Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun (2020)
What the heck was that
This was the first time I have seen anything from Aunty Donna. Not gonna lie, on the first watch I was high and it was too much sometimes but also realy funny.
But on the second watchthrough I understood the concepts better and guess what, I think I'm a fan now.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
It could have been great.
This episode left me with more questions than answers.
- Isn't Bran, like, evil now? He let all this tragedy happen and manipulated timelines so he can become the king?
- Why is there a 3 eyed raven in the first place?
- Why did Dany become this crazy (and I really liked the concept and Emilia going at it) this fast? It just doesn't make sense.
- Why did Jon go to the Wall? Where did he go then? Is he settling in the North? Why didn't he just stay, when the unsullied left? Wtf?
- Who are all these people at Tyrion's "trial"?
- Why does Tyrion decide the fate of the 7 kingdoms?
- Why doesn't everybody demand independence, just like the North?
- Why Bronn??
- Why is the prophecy useless?
- Why were Jon's real parents such a mystery, when it didn't actually matter in the end?
- and on and on and on...
The end of season 8 made me painfully switch my Game of Thrones show-rating from 10 to 8. This was a hell of a ride. But the ending was freaking rough, man. Gooldbye, Game of Thrones.
It could have been great.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
I'm not mad, I'm disappointed
I really don't have a problem with eading. But the road to that ending just disappoints, one episode at a time. I don't buy that Dany changed from breaker of chains to queen of ashes in a heartbeat. I'm just not sold and the show never made an attempt to make that sell.
Nowadays, the plot drives the character's actions, not the other way around. It's weird to say that about a TV show, but it feels scripted. And people recognize it. And that's why there is so much hate for this season. People are invested in this big time and it just feels like the story dots are connected sooo lazy.
And there's 15 minutes of useless footage of Arya running (and riding!) around the city, I will never get back.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
What a letdown
Compared to Game of Thrones standards, this is probably a 1/10. Compared to other shows, I'll give it a 5. So I'll aim in the middle and give it a 3.
After the first two episodes felt so slow, 3 and 4 are super rushed and therefore seem incoherent. Character actions and dialogues don't make sense or seem to fall out of the blue sky these days.
Season 8 has horrifying issues with pacing and this episode is the new peak of exactly that- for now...
