Outer Banks (2020)
Great surfing story -- it parallels My Twisted Summer
Fun surfing story -- it parallels the novella My Twisted Summer. Let the good times roll!
The Master (2012)
Terrible storyline
Despite the drama, there is no clear linear story. It was as bad as watching a cloud that looks like it's going to rain, but then nothing relevant happens.
All Eyez on Me (2017)
Great movie! I'll see it twice.
My girl and I enjoyed every minute -- maybe commented too much during it -- it was gripping and cathartic. RIP Pac. Your mom rocked! The acting was convincing, and the storyline was worth my existence. Tupac was a man with conviction like no other -- except Jesus. Great editing and great gripping storytelling. Tupac is in our consciousness and this movie reminds us why.
Passengers (2016)
Don't watch -- low concept boredom
The trailer is misleading -- there's no action here. Just a rom-com in space where the guy is selfish. Don't watch. Nothing happens but waking some up to play. The trailer fooled several millions of people. The idea is not worth going out to watch it.
Any actors could have portrayed the story. Why such expensive actors? Don't watch. Rent, maybe. But here's the 10 lines of text.
No aliens, no drama, but two people liking and hating each other. Save your money and just NEtflix it. Thumbs down. Way down on the story. And the actors don't bring anything to the screen, just, just having the audience wait for something to wake-up to.
Entourage (2015)
Ten stars for Entourage
I've been a fan for over a decade and the movie met my expectations. All characters remain authentic, Ari is great and a man with conviction. The writing and acting is flawless. The movie is just like the shows only longer -- very entertaining. The film industry is a wild business. The art of film making is revered throughout the movie. Entourage has always been about making art with film and this movie is just that.
The twist throughout the movie keeps us long-time fans satisfied. I didn't need the cameos, but whatever. This group of friends reminds me of my public school boys who always had each other's back. Ten stars and it's worth watching three times. First time I go to the movies in months!
Foreverland (2011)
My friend died at 23 from cystic fibrosis
My buddy Brent Peterson died from cystic fibrosis at 23. This movie was right on the money regarding all elements. I saw Brent in William. I saw Brent during the drinking scenes, the tapping of the body to have the mucus move around in order to breathe, the first pill scenes, his one love before he passed, his thirst for adventure, having awesome parents.
The final scene was moving and full of appreciation that I have lived into my 30s and the road ahead looks interesting.
Brent never asked for sympathy or your help -- he was a surfer, an individual, a funny guy who would always be down to go out and have a beer. The writer for this movie did a flawless job.
