5-25-77 (2008)
One of the uniquely best movies I've ever seen
There is so much raw honest and beautiful passion in this movie. Patrick Read Johnson and John Francis Daley together perfectly capture and express the exuding love of a teenage nerd. This movie made me want to make movies the same way that the matrix made me want to be able to walk on walls.
I don't know how to explain it but I feel like 5-27-22 has made me rethink what a movie can do/be on a small budget. 5-27-22 is simply brilliant and on the "must watch list" for sure. I can't wait for Patrick Read Johnson's next work and if it takes 16 years to get another movies this good it will certainly be worth the wait!
War of the Worlds (2005)
Graphically stunning, with a OK script
I was hoping they wouldn't screw it up and I was glad with the outcome. The script is weak with many plot holes, but the special effects are mindblowing so they mostly made up. Dakota Fanning and Tom Cruise did a great job acting, but the son character (Justin Chatwin) kind of lowered the overall performance. This movie although being good was very intense and contained severval somewhat graphic scenes of violence (about the same level as star wars episode 3). Also the ending seemed a little tacked on like they had to think of a ending all of a sudden. I would have liked to see them play it out a little more, but overall a pretty good movie and I give it 8.0 out of 10
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Star Wars Episode 3 need I say more???
WOW! I waited 3 hours in line to see the midnight showing of this movie but it was worth it. The special effects are the amazing and the 150 million dollar budget was definitely put to use. In every scene is at least 50% CG which creates many stunning shots. it followed the starwars 1,2 formula opening with a bit of comedy then delivering some very cool action, but at the same time it took it so much further. Instead of having just 1 really cool battle between major characters there was a astounding 5 with all the major characters and 1 new one. George Lucas did a good job in bringing episode 2 and episode 4 together leaving nothing unsettled. The only thing that I didn't like was a few love scenes where bad dialog and bad acting took over but it wasn't enough to ruin the film in anyways. I give this movie a 9.75/10.0 Also for all you parents who might be worried about the PG-13 rating if you would let your child see The Alamo or or watch CSI then you have nothing to worry about.
