Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Adorable film version and both stars shine
I've seen this film three times already and adore it. It's an adorable version that stands up to other more well known versions. Keira Knightley was wonderful as Lizzy and brought sympathy, feistiness, spunk, loyalty and confusion to the role while Matthew MacFadyen was equally wonderful in his role as our new Darcy. He had a lot to live up to, but, didn't disappoint and, by playing it his own way instead portraying him like other versions, he brought something new to the role as well and I hope to see a lot more of him in future roles.
Matthew and Keira had such lovely chemistry as Darcy and Lizzt and you could almost believe them falling inlove and both stars shone in the roles that must be their best yet. All the supporting characters were equally well performed by excellent actors, the storyline remained the same, but, different and touchingly lovely and my only complaint is that for the first time I could easily have watched far more of this film and these characters I can't wait for the DVD to watch as many times as I like
Thoughtcrimes (2003)
Surprisingly excellent film(maybe spoilers)
I accidentally stumbled across this movie on television after never having heard of it and enjoyed it so much that I went and bought the DVD and have seen it four times already. It's a surprisingly excellent film (far better than most of the big blockbusters movies) and almost everything works. Navi Ravat? as the tormented heroine and Joe Flanigan as the unwitting, but, loyal and funny partner were excellent in their roles and had so much chemistry.
The story lines were intriguing and exciting and my only complaint is that I would have loved to see the story lines developed more and more of Brendan and Freya. It would have worked wonders as a series, mini series or a couple of sequels
Bride & Prejudice (2004)
Cute and colourful and lively
I recently rented this movie and enjoyed it so much that I bought the DVD the next day and have already watched it three times. While I thought the ending was abit abrupt and Lalita fell inlove with Darcy too quickly, I loved this movie. It wasn't overtaxing or edge of your seat or made your mind work, but, it was an entertaining, lovely, cute, colourful and cheerful movie that entertained me and left me smiling which is what movies are supposed to do.
While the songs took abit of getting used to the first time, it didn't really bother me the other times and actually enhanced the film.Darcy and Lalita had such great chemistry, Martin Henderson was gorgeous and suitably intense and brooding for the part - although the Darcy character was slightly too nice all the way through the film - the songs were lively and such bright colours and it was so funny. I loved the song No Life Without Wife and the scene afterwards where Darcy grabs Lalita in the rain is so intense.
All in all it won't make you jump or make your mind work, but, it will keep you smiling and entertained for a few hours
