Disenchantment (2018)
Not interesting & not funny.
Just watched Disenchantment and I can't believe how insanely boring it was for the first half. It was like I was just watching the same thing over and over for 5 episodes. It was just Bean messes up, gets drunk, Bean messes up, gets drunk repeatedly. I kept watching hoping for something different and interesting to happen... or at least something funny. The humor was so dry and there was way too many jokes that depended on awkward moments. It was like they made whole scenes just to make certain puns or jokes that were not funny. At most you'd probably smirk a little at incidents or a joke every other episode. You'd think that magical lands where anything is possible would be more entertaining. I'm glad things started to happen... only took them until the last 2 episodes in the season. I watched this with no expectations at all and I'm still disappointed. I'll give it another chance, so I sure hope the next season is better because right now I'm not impressed.
Side note of my thoughts on some of the characters: I thought that Luci would be one of the more interesting characters, but he was, in my opinion, one of the more boring ones. No interesting advantages except for not being hurt by fire. Like he said in the beginning, he is just the bad guy that sits on Bean's shoulder and encourages Bean to do bad stuff. Elfo & Oona(although she was shown very little) were two of the best characters.
And something that has nothing to do with the show itself, but rather is just a peeve of mine is Bean's teeth. Not the fact that they are buck teeth, but just something about how the rest of them look in her mouth. For some reason they just make me angry and want to fix them.
Compound Fracture (2014)
Better Than Expected
This movie was much better than I expected. When I first started watching this movie, I could not get past the bad acting in the beginning and I had to stop. I went back to it today and I actually pushed past the bad script and poor acting. Tyler Mane was decent, but he could have done better. Muse Watson was essentially the only good actor - no surprise. The color of the movie was actually really strange, but I feel that it added to the aura of the movie. It was a nice change from the movies that are so dark you cannot even see what is happening. It has a really interesting story and an ending I did not expect. For the most part, it was very predictable, but it had some things that caught me off guard. The story was choppy at parts and a bit hard to follow, but it all made sense eventually. It was also a little bloodier than I expected, but I liked it all the same. I was expecting a 4/10, but it was better than that. For a low budget film, this was pretty decent; much better than ones I've seen before.
In short, poor acting, OK script, interesting story, good plot, odd coloration (but it works), and it has a few good scares.
Check it out if you're just looking for something to watch that you've never seen before. It's not a MUST SEE, but it's alright.
