Unapologetically Real!
23 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
To start off, this film definitely deserves more than a 10. Its funny and surprisingly heartfelt. Jennifer Lawrence played her role real well. Shes a great actress. She knows exactly how to be charming, how to throw the lines and where to drop the jokes. Her face can paint a million things without even talking. It was effortless. Especially surprised with the piano scene, you could clearly see when it dawned on her that things were becoming real, that hearts could potentially be broken. It was so raw. It was magic. The same thing can be said about the male lead, Andrew Feldman. He really took on the role and made it believable. The innocent, by the book nerd. He was a joy to watch. He matched her energy and was equally charming in how he did it. The music, the vibe, the supporting cast. All of it made for a perfect 10. Yeah its raunchy but in a good way. Watched it twice, and it still makes me laugh. Will definitely watch again in the future. People need to see this.

Riley Rewind (2013)

It was a good movie. Cut them some slack.

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing the other horrendous reviews on this. I just had to speak out. When you guys did your reviews did you also consider the ff: A.It's a small budget film, B.It's their first film, C.Everyone is still pretty new in the biz. With that said I believe everyone did their best. Yeah it may not garner an Oscar but with what they were working with even I'm surprised with the results. There is a lot of heart that went in making it clearly and while it does leave room for improvement, considering the facts I mentioned above, I know it deserves the score I gave it.

OK onto the review

Comments:

Personally I love the concept of the show. Time traveling has never been portrayed in such an interesting manner as Runaway Machines did. Yes it may seem like a recycled topic but they did an awesome job at making it modern and fresh. I really do like it. Considering this as amateur work doesn't even cut it as it can be said that the people behind this have truly outdone themselves and are in dire need of a well deserved pat in the back. Kudos to you guys for your awesome imagination and turning that imagination into reality.

The storyline/plot although predictable was easy enough to follow and understand. It's the first season and its their first time in all this so its understandable but I can say that it was definitely well written as it was able to push its story thru to people.

The acting was good. The delivery of the lines especially by Anna Akana was awesome. Sure she needs a few polishing here and then in some scenes but that can be forgiven as she was able to meet the standards or outdo them most of the time. The same can be said for most of the characters. Actually, thinking about it now I think most of them did really well as I can't find any single one that I remember thinking "oh my! This one's acting sucks". That in itself shows how everyone took their parts seriously no matter how big or small their screen-time. Lots of shining moments too esp. from the character Jay in episode 5 when he told off Riley for being so reckless. It was heartfelt and you can tell there was sincerity in it. Riley on the other-hand was able to keep the energy up on that scene as she explained her side albeit emotionally. That scene really moved me. It was kind of unexpected but a welcomed surprise none the less. The facial expressions were all good.

I like how I learn something from her whenever she opens her mouth esp during her excerpts every starting scene. It just show how well thought out it was and how imaginative and talented the person is. She not only funny but you learn a thing or two from her too. Its a win win situation. The video was funny to watch too. All the punchlines were epic. It wasn't boring at all and proceeded at an appropriate pace(heck even my Aunt can watch and I'm sure she'll get it)

The music used were spot on. They were able to hit all scenes with the right song choice I believe. Everything was in perfect harmony. The opening and ending cuts were really good too. It did not look amateur at all. This seriously passes for a good movie. Some of you may argue with that but hear me out. This has a lot of heart and you can tell they poured their souls out in making it. I'm just giving it the praise it deserves. Yeah it may have flaws but the flaws make it genuine. It's perfect.

PS I just wish they'd pursue continuing the series as it left the 1st season with a cliff hanger. I'm itching to know what happens next. Please support the writers/actors/actresses.

The Tomorrow People (2013–2014)
10/10
Don't be too quick to judge. :)
29 March 2014
I have to admit that at the start of the show, I wasn't instantly hooked. The first few episodes seem to drag, the plot a little juvenile and uninteresting. Predictable at times which is a real downer for me. The characters besides being eye-candy don't really stick. Being OK at best. The story feels like something from a comic book. Missing father, son who suddenly discovers he's gifted then thrust into a world where he is unprepared for and unwillingly but then slowly rises to the part and well you know the rest. Not very original. I know it was derived from 2 franchises already but still I expected something more this being the year 2000's already. Plus since I follow this show together with other shows, I vividly remember putting this in the least priority list often being the one I watch when I've finished watching everything else.

That being said though it does have its moments then but they just did not burn to memory as other series did. I was about to drop it really. I mean it's a hassle for me a student to follow it around especially since I couldn't find a real foothold in the storyline to keep me wanting more.

I'm glad I didn't though. I just recently viewed the following episodes I missed starting from episode 10 (I think. I'm now at ep.17 as I write this) and I have to say that the show has improved a lot. Aside from the awesome effects which it never fails to deliver, The plot has grown. I really like it. I have to admit the transition was so fast it caught me off guard. I wonder if the creators, producers changed writers or something because if they did then kudos to them because the storyline has gotten a hell and I mean a HELL LOT BETTER. I literally couldn't stop watching from episodes 11-17 which I finished within the day. The characters are getting better. I like how they get new ones that I really find interesting like Charlotte. Although I still am looking for those tearjerker moments, those lovey-dovey scenes, those fart inducing punchlines that I look for in most series, I have to say that it's really getting there. Plot wise it was a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR improvement. I really enjoyed all the plot twists honestly. The action scenes are cool. I know its scifi themed but a little of those here and there wouldn't hurt right. I mean Smallville is just themed like it but it did have those elements right? That's my two cents on the matter. Just a little more push and I can say the show can get to top 10. Even number 1.

Reading this I know it wasn't as convincing since I lack facts or "specifics" but trust me. Give the show a chance. It'll definitely grow on you.
