An absolute masterpiece
Everything about this movie is beautifully crafted. I'll start with the editing; top notch. Looks just like it was made in Windows Movie Maker. The cinematography? Extremely courageous and breathtaking. They definitely took a note from Battlefield Earth, and filmed almost entirely in Dutch angles, which is so innovative and purposeful. The actors were clearly hand-selected from such fine conservatories as AMDA and Barbizon. The best actor is definitely Sebastian, the baby. He's such a convincing rag doll, I almost forgot he was supposed to be a real baby! And the script. Oh, the script! Filled with so many iconic lines such as, "It looks like a cross between a hemorrhoid and a herpe," and, "Why does everybody keep telling me to breathe??" "Because you gotta breathe," and, of course, "sEbAsTiAaAn!" Definitely snubbed at the Academy in 2012 for a Best Original Screenplay nomination. I highly recommend this movie.....when you're blackout drunk or high as balls
P.S. I Love You (2007)
Not my cup o' tea
I'll just throw this out there: I'm not a big rom-com fan. And that's probably why I'm not a big fan of this movie. While the filmmaking is genuinely competent and well thought-out, the script is predictable and essentially every rom-com cliché is thrown in. The performances are as good as they can be, what with lazy and contrived writing; particularly Lisa Kudrow and several one-scened background characters. And I can say I wasn't bored throughout the movie. Personally, I think this kind of story would work much better in a one-act play. If you don't like romantic comedies, I don't think this movie will particularly sway you.
Skyscraper (2018)
Eh
The song Skyscraper by Demi Lovato did not play a single time. I am pissed.
Third Star (2010)
I cry every time
Third Star is a brilliantly written film with talented actors, beautiful scenery, and a moving soundtrack. There is a lot of symbolism throughout the film (there is even symbolism within the title itself).
There is a certain subtlety that adds to the overall tone to the film. While there are many heartbreaking moments throughout, the majority of the film has an incredibly positive theme.
While each actor had an incredible performance, one that always stuck out to me was Cumberbatch as the lead, James. He has no troubles letting the audience feel exactly what James is feeling. You understand his anger. You feel his sadness. You crave to feel the happiness that he wants to feel in his last days. Each actor has heartbreaking moments throughout.
Although the language is a tad heavy in this film, I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants good laughs, a heart-warming story about friendship, or even anyone who wants to cry. I promise, you will experience all three while watching this film.
