Gwimul (2021)
It's been a while
SPOILER FREE
Everyone can appreciate some aspects of this drama, like the acting or the OST, but plot-wise this is not a series for everyone. Beyond Evil is a character-driven drama, that some may find slow paced. Anyone who likes multilayered and morally gray characters will appreciate it. The acting (especially from the two main leads) is probably one of the best I have seen.
SPOILERS
It's been a while since I saw such an intriguing series. Was it perfect without even a single flaw? No. However the flaws were minor, so I didn't really care about them.
Beyond Evil is a gripping drama from the beginning. The plot is very well written and the characters are so interesting and complex. The acting is outstanding. Shin Ha Kyun delivered one of the best performances I have ever seen. He is an amazing actor, and Yeo Jin Goo was such a great choice to play Han Joo Won. I don't know who thought of putting Shin Ha Kyun and Yeo Jin Goo together in a series, but whoever did, thank you very much! This series would definitely not be the same without this great cast and the phenomenal chemistry of the two main leads.
Generally, I don't pay too much attention to the directing, since most of the times it is good or at least decent. Nonetheless, it was impossible not to notice the great directing of this series. I loved how it was like seeing the POV of another character and it led the viewers to certain assumptions to distract them from the truth. The color tones were all so dark yet not too dark, which made the series even more appealing and disturbing (especially in the first episodes). The OST fits the series in an unimaginably good way.
Did this get draggy, tiring or just not as good comparing to the first half? Kind of, but it was inevitable. This isn't a series that reveals everything on the last episode, so of course every single clue added a piece to the puzzle and when things started getting clearer it was natural for the series to not be as mysterious as it was in the first episodes.
What I really loved, is the fact that everything was revealed slowly but surely and we didn't wait till the last episode to find out who the killer is.
I loved how Beyond Evil tackled many issues like the stigma that follows a falsely accused person or the pain that people who are left behind are going through.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
This is offensive (and I may be a little too)
I am sorry to say this, but this was not good. First of all, for all the people saying that we had high expectations what am I suppose to have? It is more than a year since the last season ended and the promotion for the last season was crazy. It was supposed to be the episode that the fans were waiting for, the epic battle with the dead and most of the times I personally couldn't even see what was going on. It was supposed to be the ''best and longest battle on TV history''.
The episode was too dark and yeah GOT has made multiple dark episodes, but it wasn't a good idea to do something like that in an episode that should have been one of the best. It could be another Battle of the Bastards, but it wasn't even close.
When it was revealed that the last season was going to have 6 episodes I wasn't that disappointed, because I believed that they were going to be great; they weren't -for me at least-. Fans were waiting for so long for them to film this on winter and so far this is not a good season.
The only scenes that were worth it were the ones with the dragons. The OST was great as always.
Secondly, I don't get the whole ''they filmed it like that because they wanted to cut off from the budget''. I mean come on, Game of thrones has a HUGE budget. The actors could live 100 lives with the money that they have earned. It was just a bad decision.
Finally, the writing. I don't even know what to say about this. I am not a person who wanted Jon to kill the night king, on the contrary I wanted it to be Arya, but the way that the script proceeded wasn't that great. Besides the fact that they killed the night king too easily (he was like waiting there for Arya to come), how did Arya get there? If they explain that later maybe I will be happy, but when you show a character like Arya fighting and almost dying from white walkers and then she suddenly passes thousands of them to get to the night king... that is just bad. And there is no excuse about her years of fighting, because if it was that simple then she wouldn't have a near death experience. There are other plot holes -like Jon surviving in the middle of all the white walkers until he is saved from Dany, or Tyrion and Sansa not having a scratch-.
I don't believe I am overanalysing things. A show like game of thrones, that has so many epic scenes and great characters is not allowed to deliver something like this. I would accept it if it was another series, but not this.
Don't get me wrong I really like game of thrones and I wanted to love this, but it was a big disappointment.
The next episode seems way better though, and I hope that it actually is.

Supernatural: Moriah (2019)
Supernatural, as it must be.
First of all let me say that this was a great episode with an unpredictable ending and with clever writing.
The episode overall was way different that other season finales. It started with an idea that fits a filler episode and with great meta references. We see Jack as a powerful being once again, that can control the whole world with just a thought of his. As the episode continues we are anticipating the finale with Jack dead from Dean's hand or with Jack releasing his power against the Winchesters. God is back and we all think that he will do something to help with the whole situation or leave again with doing nothing. What I personally didn't expect was for him -the great writer- to turn into an evil character that will release the Winchesters biggest fears. That was probably the worst thing he could do. With a snap of his fingers he ''deleted'' all the fights the Winchester had given all these years. The fact that the 'plot twist' happened in the final ten minutes made the episode even more shocking.
I want to comment on the whole 'God' thing, that has been going on for a few years now on the series. I can't comprehend all the critics about supernatural trying to pass an anti-Christian message now that God appears as the bad guy, while all the years previously, with all the biblical creatures being distorted, not that many people were bothered. From the beginning Chuck was represented as someone who was playing with the existence of the boys not telling them who he is and while writing their life story. I think that Chuck is the representation of God that people have on their minds when bad things happen. He is not there to help, he is constantly on a trip and he wants humans to deal with everything on their own. We pray to Him when tragedy strikes and at the same time we are wondering where has he been when it happens. Chuck is not the God that we believe in. He is the God that wasn't there when we needed him. He is the part of God that has crossed our minds once in a while, the God that didn't help when he was needed, the God that has forgotten about his creations. He is not the righteous God that we pray to. I believe that the writers chose to give him a human name because they didn't want him to be the God that people believe in. They wanted him to be a God with flaws that isn't great and is not perfect. The God in the supernatural world, a world that not everything goes as we want it to go.
The writers had the courage -or the audacity- to make him appear as a character on the show, but in the end they want everyone to remember that he is just a character. God is unknown to everyone and the only thing we can do, is to believe in Him. If people get offended by his representation on the series, then they should have stopped watching supernatural years ago. God is not flawed now, he was always like that in the series. He was selfish and didn't really care. He wanted free will but at the same time didn't. He is the God that we sometimes doubt.
Supernatural -even if it is named like that- was always a show about human perspective. The good angels aren't always that good, and the evil creatures aren't always that evil.
Anyway, that was probably even better that the season five finale and I hope that the last season of this series, that has been going on for fifteen years will be as it must be; epic.
