The Walking Dead: Last Day on Earth (2016)
The biggest disappointment in 6 seasons
This episode was supposed to be the climax to tension that had been building since the premiere of the second half of the sixth season. We had heard Negan's name bounced around, and every episode had some sort of foreshadowing that we would eventually meet him, and he would make a huge intro. Well...that didn't fail...Negan showed up, delivered a monologue for the ages, and then boom...cliffhanger.
Cause Robert Kirkman likes them, and so does Scott Gimple. They compare the episode to LOST...which I quit watching because nothing ever happened and then they'd have a cliffhanger, looks like The Walking Dead is headed down the same path.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was brilliant, the writing was not.
AMC shoved as many ad's into the 90 minute drawn out episode that they possibly could...then they didn't deliver, they copped out. The ego of the showrunners prevailed over actually giving the fans a quality show. Click baiting you into coming back in 7 months to see what happened, because I guess they weren't sure the loyal fans of this show would come watch if they didn't.
Pathetic. JDM was the only saving grace...otherwise it was a disaster. A waste of an entire season.
Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series (2014)
Tales from the Borderlands...a triumphant success keeping in tradition with other Telltale installations.
Tales from the Borderlands...let me just start by saying, I wasn't the biggest Borderlands fan...I liked the premise of the original games enough to come back and play the sequel and the pre-sequel...however, I believed the gameplay was kind of sloppy, and a lot of the virtual wasteland of Pandora lacked heart...then Tales came into the equation...and not only does this game have heart...it has it IN SPADES. Telltale rekindles the success of storytelling that they have achieved in previous titles such as The Walking Dead Seasons 1 & 2, and The Wolf Among us...to bring us another beautifully woven tale with characters at its hearth that are likable and relatable....Tales will take you on a ride back and forth from Helios to the beautiful yet tragic world of Pandora, it will tug at your heartstrings...it will make you look at the characters with Artificial Intelligence as if they have the biggest hearts of all, and you will truly feel for their plight. Telltale Games' Tales from the Borderlands is an absolute masterpiece, and if you haven't given it a look yet...well...what are you waiting for?
Moone Boy (2012)
Absolutely Feckin Brilliant!
This is one of those shows that comes along once in a while and it literally makes you laugh out loud at every single moment. The show revolves around a young boy named Martin Moone...who is a bit of a buffoon, which leads to numerous shenanigans...all the while Martin is guided by his trusty imaginary friend named Shaun Murphy, who is a bit plain as imaginary friends go, which kind of describes the type of person Martin is...if you're looking for a good time, a laugh a minute period piece...yes...this is set in the late 80s in Ireland, then look no further. Moone Boy delivers blow after comedic blow and the supporting cast is just as good, from the Moone parents and siblings, to Padraig, Martin's best friend, whose imaginary friend Crunchy Danger Haystacks is just as entertaining as anyone else. This is an ensemble gem that deserves your attention. I only give it a 9 out of 10, because I reserve that 10th star for something that is absolutely the best show or movie ever made, IN MY OPINION of course, but this show has entertained me just as much as anything ever made, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
The Walking Dead: The Game - Season 1 (2012)
The story is key, but game play is lacking options
I've played through the first episode and was enthralled by the storyline from beginning to end. This definitely has the feel of a Robert Kirkman story and does not disappoint. Just like the comics and TV series of the same name the emphasis is on character interaction and human emotion with a backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. While the storyline was great, and I can't wait for the next episode to become available for that very reason, the game play was nothing short of timed button mashing, and really lends very little to the overall gaming experience. This is a bit annoying, but doesn't give enough of a reason to avoid playing this well written title. The one element of game play that is rewarding is the RPG experience of making decisions and having all of those decisions create some sort of reaction. Nearly everything you say to other characters can be remembered by the person, and may present itself later in another situation, there are even times when you may have to make a choice on whose life you intend to save, it adds to the complexity of the game and in my opinion, puts the game over the edge from being a slightly above average game, to a solid "good" game. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves putting an emphasis on interactive storytelling. If you're looking for Resident Evil, I would move on.
Flight of the Conchords (2007)
Not Serious, Not Controversial, but Really Funny!
This show stars two characters Bret, and Jermaine who have traveled from New Zealand to New York City in order to make their band "Flight of the Conchords" the next big thing. They are managed by a fellow New Zealander Murray, who really works for the NZ consulate in the US, but runs the band on the side, constantly failing to get them "gigs". Through interactions with Americans who almost always confuse them with Brits, an obsessed fan who is constantly stalking them, a buddy with a paintball gun, and a girlfriend who likes guys who are in a band, this show has some seriously funny moments. This show is full of humor that might make you think a little bit, but at the same time, you're hit with an occasional comment that makes you laugh, not laugh out loud, but you're just like haha, that was pretty funny. If you're a fan of Laugh out loud comedy where the jokes don't make you think a little bit, then stay away. This show isn't complex by any means, but it attempts to give you a subtle humor that some run away from. This show isn't the greatest thing to ever hit television, but if you're looking for a solid 30 minutes of entertainment, then tune in. I give it a very above average 8 out of 10, because it never fails to make you laugh, but at the same time, it's not the greatest show ever made.
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (2006)
A splendid array of artwork and story telling woven into a masterpiece
First of all, This game is very complex and isn't fully appreciated unless it is played from start to finish. The graphics were amazing but took a backseat to what proved to be a very intricately woven masterpiece of a story.
I absolutely loved nearly everything about this game. If I have to have one complaint, it's probably that there wasn't enough action. The fight scenes were very abrupt and really left you wanting more.
All in all I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the Action/RPG genre.
The story is open-ended and definitely left room for a third installment, of which I am very excited.
Cabin Fever (2002)
Horror? How do you figure?
This was by far one of my most anticipated movies of 2002. I saw the trailer and eagerly awaited it's release. Then I saw it. I saw a movie that introduced a flesh eating virus as it's main villain. OH NO!! To compensate for the lack of any real "villain" It spewed forth gallons upon gallons of blood. I'm a huge fan of 70's and 80's B movie Horror. However, this movie has no shock value and no suspense. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a movie. The kid from Boy Meets World was so unconvincing as a hero. Even the gratuitous nudity was unsatisfying. I'm doing this movie credit by giving it a 1 out of 10, and the fact that anybody ever liked this movie is baffling to me. Just a horrible horrible film. My eyes are still burning.
OH NO, THE FLESH EATING VIRUS IS IN OUR BOTTLED WATER!!!! AHHHHHHH, Weak.
Cinderella Man (2005)
Unbelievable!!!
This was without a doubt one of the best sports movies ever made. Although it was more about the hardships that Jim Braddock had to endure. When you see what he went through you truly feel for him, and you want him to win. You find yourself cheering for him. He really epitomizes the word underdog in every sense of the word. Crowe was outstanding and this in my opinion will be the role he is most remembered for. Zellweger and Giamati also gave career performances.
I was truly stunned at how good this movie was and I would recommend it to anyone. The supporting cast was amazing and the cinematography and effects were stunning. You felt every punch, and you felt for whoever it was being delivered to as well. I give this movie a 10 of 10. Honestly, this is a great movie.
