Outlander: Better to Marry Than Burn (2020)
Blown away
By far, this is my favorite episode this season. It was nice to see Roger take a heroic stance and save the ridge. He isn't my favorite character, but I had to love him in this.
Murtagh's confession of devotion left me in tears. To see him so vulnerable instead of his usual stoic self was heart rending.
The scene between J/C in the stables was reminiscent of season one. It had vibes of the epic argument by the river.
The last scene had hints of Stephen Bonnet evil deeds to come.
The writers managed to cram so much in such a short amount of time. Kudos to all of the cast and crew.
Outlander: Perpetual Adoration (2020)
Always exceeds expectations.
This episode offered some surprises. Never expected them to explore the Graham Menzies story; nice touch, although they changed it a bit. The bit with with Lieutenant Knox was unexpected. Once again, Sam Heughan's talent shines. I so love this show.
Outlander: The Company We Keep (2020)
No fault to be found
This season just keeps getting better. Casting is right on--the Beardsley twins and Lionel Brown are exactly as I envisioned them when reading The Firey Cross. Marsali becomes more endearing with each episode. I didn't like the actress much in past seasons, but she is really coming into her own. Jamie (Sam) is great, as always; made me tear up, once again, when he suggested they could keep the baby. This show is an emotional roller coaster.
Outlander: Free Will (2020)
Getting better and better.
Amazing episode. The set designers on this show are true artisans. You could almost smell the filth of the Beardsley cabin. Acting was, once again, superb. How they manage to continue the excellence of Outlander week after week is beyond comprehension. This episode is exceptional, even by their usual standards.
Outlander: Between Two Fires (2020)
Outstanding episode.
Yes, this episode had some fairly graphic violence. War is violent and the Revolution and its beginnings were as well. There were no weapons of mass destruction, which can kill and maim from afar; the fight was up close and personal. I did not find this offensive, but rather a depiction of the times. Once again, the acting was stellar. Sam's ability to speak volumes without saying a word shows a masterful grasp of his craft. Catrioina has this ability as well, as evidenced by the scene with Marsali butchering the deer carcass. Well done by all. Outlander is the best show on TV.
