Eragon?
16 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Let's pretend for a moment I didn't read the book:

Actors were great. Effects were great. Story line thrilling. It was an exciting movie that kept you going! All in all, A+.

But WAIT! I did read the book!

What the heck happened?! They absolutely butchered the storyline! I think the only thing they got right were the names! I'm dreadfully sorry Christopher Paolini... They got it wrong from character description to plot line! At first I was giving them a little credit cause they needed to edit it to make a movie, but by the time the sent Roran off to avoid the war instead of to work in a mill, I was fed up! I do give credit to the actors, they did very well for what they were given. The editing was off, there were scenes that it randomly began/stopped raining, voice overs that didn't match up, and other random mistakes. All in all, D-

Moral: It would have been great had I not read the book. Over all, C+

EDIT: My friend and I saw the movie for a second time. This time however, we knew what to expect. We both found that the second time around was much better. (One, because we didn't spend the entire movie complaining...) I think I was a little too harsh the first time around. It is a good movie, not as "to the book" as I'd like it to be, but I still think that it is better than nothing. I am definitely hoping for some deleted scenes on the DVD though... All in all, raise it to a B

W.T.C. (True Story): An Excellent Tear Jerker
9 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
It was a great movie centered on the real life events of two Port Authority officers trapped underneath the collapsed World Trade Centers in an elevator shaft. The families of the two officers are shown as they were upon hearing about the event and the painful wait they had to suffer through to hear any news of their loved ones.

The movie contains a lot of graphic scenes including people jumping, dying, and blood. Not recommended for children, but a must see for adults.

To imagine what it was like for the people there, the noise and the pain... it's all very overwhelming. The two men that were trapped had no idea what was going on around them, or the fact that they were actually trapped under the building and not some random debris. It was interesting to see it from their perspective, they were on the inside without any idea of what was going on.

I had my doubts about the movie before it was out because i felt it was too soon for a theatrical re-telling. I went to see it anyway because my mom's cousin was one of the Port Authority officers that died that day. I'm glad i did.

What I ask people to do as they see this movie is not to look at it as another action packed flick or a film made purely for entertainment's sake, but as the true event that it was. This DID happen to these two men, and maybe more. To say "the dialog was dull" or "the story could have been better" or "why couldn't they put more action in it" would be a criticism. You can't tweak real life so it sells better. The point is that this happened. I'm happy with the way they made it because there was no extra tweaking just to make it a good movie. They told it like it was - how they experienced it.

Must see, but don't expect too much
31 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Overall, this movie is very action packed and great with graphics. However, it is lacking. It's lacking in character development and overall story plot-line.

Rogue, she's been there through it all, but you only see her in the beginning and briefly at the end. Her story had a lot they could have done more with, such as her boyfriend acting very close to Kitty Pryde, the cure, and the battles. Warren Worthington III/Angel, i understand why he was there, but why wasn't he used more? You see him as a kid, then nearly getting the cure, going to the "school", and saving his father. that's really it. no character development to really get attached to him. Other plot-line problems include the vagueness of Jean/Pheonix and the sudden deaths of main characters right off in the beginning. The storyline had a lot of potential, and they just didn't use all of it.

I do still think this movie is a must see, though I must forewarn you not to have high expectations. And also, stick around for after the credits, there is a must see scene that HOPEFULLY means more x men!

Definitely a kids movie
17 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This movie definitely ranks as a kids movie, but even I had some enjoyment with it. I'm a 16 year old, me and my friends (16 & 18) went to go see it just because we thought Taylor L. (Shark boy) was worth seeing. (Too bad he is only 13).

The movie was acted through the point that a kid would understand, and definitely had its ups and downs. I think that most kids would enjoy it, one example of this is as i was walking into the theater, a kid walking out from the last showing was very excited and said he loved it.

To parents, or teens, the movie may not be your type unless you are in to the "cute", funny, "out of this world", childish storyline type of movies. (FYI, it is rated for its Humor.)

The 3 main kids of the movie take you through twists and turns and adventures both on earth and planet Drool. Though all adventures inturn lead you back to earth. Even the stories of the existence of Shark Boy and Lavagirl brings you closer to the movie.

The movie is therefore anyone's opinion.
