Sex and the City: An American Girl in Paris: Part Deux (2004)
A perfect ending to a perfect series
It's was a bittersweet experience to see the end of a series that played a pivotal part in our culture. I wouldn't be surprised if this show wouldn't be in the history books of children a few decades from now. Women and men, whether they were single, married, divorced, gay, straight, bi, young, middle-aged, old.... all could identify with these four women and the situations they face. True, they are dramatized and it isn't real life, but we all can see intimate links of our lives with the show. A work of brilliance that would never ever be replaced. On this night women allover tuned into HBO...sipping their cosmopolitans.. gathering their friends... toasting Sex and the City, for the best six years of their lives.
Crash (2004)
Crash? More like trash
What can i say about this overrated stereotype of a movie? Well, the opining line says it all doesn't it? Sure, it was a touchy subject, and yes there was a good intention behind it all, but what makes it so different than all the other movies about the same theme? Nothing.
Paul Haggis is a brilliant man in his own way. I quite admire his prior work, including that series he produced, i think it was called Family Law. But here, he's just gone.. well stale! The dialogues are superbly cliché, with more howling than speaking. We have the standard white bigot (Dillon) who frankly is more uninspiring than Jennifer Lopez is Maid in Manhattan. It's supposed to be a compliment for that performance.
Personally i feel that even though this is a good movie in some ways, it just isn't special. My vote is so low because, well the movie robbed me of the opportunity of finding any worth.
Oh well, the Oscars love playing it safe and giving it to the cliché's. And since the bush administration... well freedom of speech and artistic integrity does seem like a fantasy.
Overrated and dull... Screechy and bland... with tonnes of clichés...that's Crash!
The Notebook (2004)
The most beautiful story ever told!
I must be one of the millions of people who weeped and weeped throughout the entire movie. Tears of Joy, Tears of Sorrow, Tears of Hope, Tears of Despair, Tears of Love. This is one of the few movies to capture my heart. A love story that's so beautifully woven into such a precious tale, signifying the ever lasting emotions that true love can express, in such a sublimely beautiful manner. I so deeply regret not seeing this beautiful movie in the Movie Theater... instead I saw it on DVD. It was brilliant... Simply Brilliant. No other movie could ever touch my heart and soul the way this did. Being the biggest cynic of sappy chic flicks, I was thoroughly moved by this wonderful tale of romance. I can only hope that we all find a love even half as great as the love between Noah and Allison.
