Hautingly beautiful
27 February 2023
This is probably one of the best foreign crime thrillers I've seen in a while if not one of the best in the world. Beautifully shot with a very engaging lead actor, the film makes the viewer think.

What makes this movie so amazing is not just the acting or the direction or the lights and camera effects but the feelings that each character shows. The emotions are so raw and real that you become a part of this narration. Humans are full of flaws and we help other's detect their flaws and eventually we ourselves succumb to our flaw's. The world in which we live is sometimes so shocking, disturbing and beyond comprehension that we have to eventually give in and not relentlessly chase our pursuits how much ever flawless and meticulous we are in our tasks.

It's a beautiful film and worthy of any cinephile to check out!

ENGAGING ROLLER-COASTER RIDE
19 October 2022
I just finished watching SKIN DEEP on Amazon and for the rental price it was well worth my money especially compared to everything else on TV.

The movie is very well paced and Vince's roller coaster antics from losing 100lbs, his house burning down, to launching his first beauty product were engaging enough that I didn't even know 80 minutes went by. I literally gasped a few times while watching the movie.

At times it feels like a Docu-reality show but with a cinema flare. It's different than other documentaries in the tone and I really liked that. I also appreciated learning about formulating a beauty product. I always enjoy when documentaries are educational. In the last five or so years it feels like many docs have strayed from the educational element. This one taught me how beauty products go from conception to store shelves and Vince shows us in an effortless way since he's been doing it for decades. I've never seen a documentary before set in this world and that was refreshing for me. Vince is also very charismatic which makes it easy to understand what everything means.

Looking forward to hearing more about Vince's antics and his beauty products which look like they're top notch.

Very Atmospheric and a Great Ride
3 July 2018
I saw this movie at a sold-out screening at the Vista in Hollywood. Perfect location! The trailer gave me a little insight for the ride I'd be on but I was not prepared for the amazing adventure I actually went on.

John Kline put together a movie like none you'll see in theaters. Basically take everything you know about Darren Aronofsky or Andrei Tarkovsky and give it another ten pumps of awesome juice. A pure trippy ride at times and very well executed. The animated sequences were where I was really sold and settled into my seat to enjoy the flick.

The lead actor Adam Marcinowski did a great job of becoming Solar Flare a drifter of the streets that we more often than not never get a chance to connect with because we think they're crazy or mentally disabled. It's a sad fact of human existence and Mr. Marcinowski made me empathize and think twice before I walk past another life that I may think is lost. His performance gives an honest grim reality of the flip side for what most of us take for granted.

The score in the film was amazing and really tied everything together.

The movie in the end had a great message and I enjoyed the dark, atmospheric ride that I went on to get there. I could see A24 distributing this film. Must see! Hopefully it'll be streaming soon. I'd probably suggest having a glass of wine or a cordial before or during this film! It's a ride of epic proportions!
