I happened to catch this movie after watching another movie on Showtime. I did not have any intention of watching it, and the opening scene nearly made me change the channel. Laziness won out, and I continued watching. There was enough intrigue to keep me watching, so that is a point in their favor.
The movie presents a lot of questions that seem random or downright illogical. Why didn't the lady hit the brakes in the opening scene (which initially turned me off)? What was the deal with dumpster guy? What is wrong with Michael Ironside's character? Fortunately, the movie does an excellent job wrapping everything up in the end. Unfortunately, being clever doesn't help if the audience is not interested in staying with the movie. The buildup took way too long. The characters weren't really that interesting.
The movie made me think afterward, which is generally a good thing. For that reason, I vote it up. Thinking about it, it's really a clever little package, but I cannot blame people for checking out early and missing out on it. It was shot as a standard horror film and did nothing to stand out. It had great potential, and I would have liked to have seen as much detail applied to the middle as there was applied to the ending.
