Lost Highway (1997)
Disturbing and Great!
One of David Lynch's finest and disturbing films.
Fred Madison (Bill Pullman) is a wealthy saxophonist based in Los Angeles and he is trapped in a loveless marriage with Renee (Patricia Arquette, They get a weird message on the intercom saying "Dick Laurent is dead". All of a sudden they get bizarre and disturbing videos of their house whilst they're sleeping. So they call the cops to tell them about the strange activity going on.
At a party hosted by Andy (Michael Massee), Fred meets the Mystery Man (Robert Blake) who claims to be inside Fred's house as well as at the party. Fred takes Renee home angry with Andy's sleazy shenanigans.
Another video arrives at his house, only this is worse. It contains footage of Fred killing Renee! He's been found guilty, his sentence, the death penalty! During his imprisonment, Fred has really bad headaches and nightmares about the Mystery Man, a burning cabin and another man driving down that lost highway like Fred.
One morning, during a routine check, Fred isn't there anymore. Instead it's a young man by the name of Pete Dayton (Balthazar Getty) an auto mechanic who was charged with auto theft 5 years ago, so he's released and is reunited with his parents Bill and Candace (Gary Busey and Lucy Butler). Back at work at the garage for Arnie (Richard Pryor) and Phil (Jack Nance), he comes into contact with a charming but hot-headed gangster by the name of Mr. Eddy (Robert Loggia), Pete goes out for a drive with him and his goons. They attack a tailgater for getting in his way so the gangster's car is back in the garage for repairs. During the repairs, he sees a pretty blonde by the name of Alice (Patricia Arquette in a dual role), Mr. Eddy's mistress. She comes to pick up the car and invites Pete for dinner. She gets her claws into him by meeting at run-down motels. Alice fears being caught by Mr. Eddy about seeing Pete. Pete gets dumped by a jealous Sheila and his parents are worried for his wellbeing then he gets a threatening phone call from both Mr. Eddy and the Mystery Man. So Pete agrees to help Alice steal some money so they can bail town. Pete kills Andy by stepping aside and letting him ram his head into the glass table! After their escape, she reveals that Mr Eddy is in fact Dick Laurent and she was forced into his porn productions! She seduces Pete but later on he morphs back into Fred Madison.
Once more meeting the Mystery Man, he says that Alice is a liar, she's been Renee all along. Fred breaks into Mr. Eddy's room, bundles him into his Mercedes and takes him into the desert. Then Fred beats Mr. Eddy/Dick Laurent up then the Mystery Man turns up and reveals that he knew that Renee and Dick were having an affair, so the Mystery Man shoots him dead. Fred returns to his old home to speak that quote from the beginning of the film "Dick Laurent is dead" but the detectives in pursuit of Pete Dayton find him so they begin chase to an unknown conclusion.
Some off-topic trivia, this was very influential on the 2001 horror game hit Silent Hill 2 with plot points like repressed memories, murder, a monster trying to reveal the truth and dual personalities.
Overall this is rated between 10 and 9 and a half out of 10 Must see if you're a Silent Hill or a David Lynch fan
The Incredible Hulk (1996)
Criminally underrated cartoon!
I loved this cartoon when it was on in its prominence! Neal McDonough really brought Bruce Banner to life and what a brilliant coup to get the services of Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. Also what a good voice cast they had for this cartoon including the likes of Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210) as Rick Jones, Matt Frewer (Max Headroom) as the menacing Leader, Mark Hamill (Star Wars as Luke Skywalker/The Joker in the DC Animated Universe) as the incompetent Gargoyle, Lisa Zane(Billy Zane's sister)/Cree Summer(Susie in Rugrats)as the She-Hulk, Simon Templeman (best known as Kain in the Legacy of Kain video game series) as the evil Doctor Doom.
So all I can say is love this cartoon then get reading the Hulk comics.
Transformers (1984)
Truly AWESOME!!!!
I love Transformers! As a matter of fact, i've grown up with it since I was 5 years old.
The Autobots are the good guys and the Decepticons are the bad guys like the leaders are complete opposites. Optimus Prime is a father figure to his fellow Autobots like his Security Chief Ironhide, the mad scientist Wheeljack, the medic Ratchet, and his right hand men Jazz and Prowl and cares for every one of them as well as making friends with Spike Witwicky and his father Sparkplug. Later in the series, Spike gets romantically involved with Carly and eventually in the movie they are married with a boy called Daniel. The Decepticon leader Megatron is a tyrant hellbent on conquering the universe but also a rational leader too, because he has a treacherous second in command called Starscream trying usurp him as the leader of the Decepticons.
Then in Season 2, it's the same Autobot/Decepticon struggle with some new sub-groups like the Protectobots, Combaticons, Aerialbots and Stunticons.
Then in post-movie Season 3 there's a new threat in the shape of the Quintessons who were the creators of all the Transformers. There's new leaders on both sides like Rodimus Prime who is unsure if he will measure up to Optimus Prime who was killed in the movie. Also the new Decepticon leader Galvatron is nothing like Megatron, power-crazed and insane due to exposure to lava plasma on the planet Thrull and both commanders have a loyal second in command. With the Autobots there's Ultra Magnus who has a straight forward attitude to Rodimus Prime's cavalier and carefree attitude and with the Decepticons there's Cyclonus who has a strict but honourable attitude towards his enemies.
Absolute Science-fiction classic!!
