First of all, let me start with this:
Why anyone would give this movie (or as a matter of fact almost any movie) a 1 out of 10, I just cannot fathom.
There are so many aspects of a movie (storyline, acting, directing, soundtrack, camera etc. you get the point) and there is hardly a movie out there that really sucks at all those aspects, that a 1 is almost never justified, but ESPECIALLY THIS movie could never be worth just a mere 1 out of ten, so why be such a hater to give it a 1?
The soundtrack, the camerawork, the acting, OMG, for these alone you should give this movie at least a 6 out of then, since they are spot on...The acting of Joaquin and all of the supporting actors, well you couldn't really find any fault in those as well , so that would also be at least a 6/10...the only thing that remains is the script/story. You might not like the heavy subjects (Things like mental diseases/ physical afflictions/ bullying/ (glorification of) violence etc. or the dark setting (remember, this is Gotham, and although it looks like New York it isn't)
If those subjects or the overall atmosphere of the movie is not your cup of tea, you might give it a lower rating because of that, but never a 1 out of 10...that is just spite and hate rating, nothing else... Something similar applies to a rating of 10 out of then, usually this is used by fanboys blinded by their love for the movie, not being able to be critical or to see any fault, because enough movies, no matter how good they are, have faults to some degree, so even the best movies hardly deserve a 10 out of 10...(or the 10 is given by paid accounts just to pump the rating :D )...
HOWEVER, JOKER REALLY deserves 10/10...Aside from being a very depressing/heavy subject movie, it is done to such perfection, I just could not find a fault in my first viewing (I will watch it again, come Blu-ray time) Yes, Joaquin should get the Oscar for lead actor, the score is spot on, should also be nominated, the camera work as well! The director and the whole movies should also fall in the nominee categories come Oscar time 2020....... I say, go see it while it still plays, go with an open mind and please don't blindly give it a 1/10 ( or 10/10), give it an honest rating based on the sum of its parts... From Holland, I bid you adieu.
