Violet (2021)
I loved this movie!
Clearly an indie film and well-acted, directed, produced. The pacing is solid and the the emotional content is where the film shines. It does a wonderful job of capturing a splitting mind that has lost connection with a true sense of self. So pleased by this film and grateful it wasn't covered in Hollywood glitz.
Twelve (2020)
Beautiful, well-written, and well-acted
This film bring the audience into the life/mind of a sensitive, neighborhood kid on the cusp of adulthood. The dialogue and interactions feel authentic and creatively captures many aspects of "Black" culture. The emotion is constant and though it didn't leave me speechless- it certainly stayed with me and I shed some tears. See this film!!!- if you let yourself just be a fly on the wall, you will be rewarded.
The Twilight Zone (2019)

Titans: Hank and Dawn (2018)
11 Stars!
This episode covered some of the most powerful themes we encounter as humans. Abuse (physical/sexual), social service dysfunction, unexpected/violent loss, vengeance, and grief. In less than an hour these topics are dealt with in great detail and the actors are able to hold the emotion of these experience expertly. Such a healing episode to watch- and despite the intense violence- every part of me rooted for these characters to succeed in every way.
And There Were 4 (2018)
Better than you think!
Yes, the editing has tons of flaws and some of the acting is choppy BUT The action scenes have some moments, the dialogue is great, and the chemistry between actors is fantastic. Maybe they could reshoot some scenes and add some CGI to get this in theaters?
Before I Fall (2017)
Well-acted, positive message, worth the watch.
I expected a lot from this film and it did not disappoint. The acting was particularly excellent from nearly all of the cast (especially the lead actress), the cinematography shined in various moments, the writing was clear and beautiful and did not endeavor to draw attention from the scenes. The plot is "Groundhog's Day" but for high schoolers/young adults. This film successfully illuminates some of the challenges of that period for suburban, middle to upper class, mostly White teens but is generalizable to the majority of teens and young adults. Definitely worth a watch and you may find yourself wishing it had another half hour or so.
