Sonsuz Ask (2017)
5/10
Good acting and reality tone in the scenario brings it closer to the audience
24 September 2017
First of all, Murat Yıldırım is a good choice for the male protagonist in the movie, because he performs very strongly in the roles such as being a lawyer as in the series, Suskunlar and being a doctor in this movie. He displays a determined, self-confident attitude in these roles and makes the audience believe that he is the number one in his profession. In Sonsuz Aşk (Eternal Love), Yıldırım is a doctor called Can and is at the top level of his career.

Secondly, Fahriye Evcen is in the role of housekeeper called Zeynep who has a serious illness. Zeynep displays a good characteristic for both her family and is a trustworthy employee. So, Evcen's fragile and polite characteristics are very well fit in this film for the role, Zeynep.

Can and Zeynep meets unexpectedly and their story begins helping each other to overcome a difficult situation.

The movie has a nice story line and the acting is so good that you find yourself feeling almost any emotion transferred throughout the film which also gives some life lessons. In this sense, this is not only a love film but a possible life experience which we should see from the audience perspective and shape our lifestyle accordingly if it is needed.

As a result, congratulations to the producers, actors and the people worked in this piece of art for telling us such a story in a soft tone without much drama and focus on the relationship between two young people

Best movie about King Arthur so far
10 June 2017
The legend couldn't be told in a more creative and action-packed way. The story-line carries the legend to a vivid, marvelous motion picture presenting the audience many scenes that cannot be imagined only by reading its book.

The visualizations and the extra events are very different from the earlier versions of King Arthur movies.

Jude Law fits perfectly for the bad role and the movie starts with a very shocking event making the spectators think of the possible next scenes but maybe guessing nothing related to this first scene.

Charlie Hunnam is a good choice for the Arthur role. His appearance displays a strength both in the face and the movements, which makes Arthur more likely to be evaluated as a possible hero, king by the audience.

In summary, this movie is my advice for the ones who like to see how people sacrifice what they value for the sake of absolute power or how people force themselves to manage a great power. This is also recommended for the ones who prefer to see war in a known historical context with startling fight scenes

Bringing back the lost love is told in a lively and real way which we can also experience
29 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I watched "Dönerse Senindir" in the gala held on Wednesday 21 December 2016. In my opinion this is one of the best love films among recent Turkish movies and has many lessons to be learned about relationships. Although this is a romantic comedy, the subject is processed in the film as a real event that we can all experience in our lives by including very little romance and a little comedy which makes the story better than the other movies' stories in this genre.

The scenario is very well organized adding fun to a plan of regaining someone special. The actors and actresses play very naturally while there is a little child like a love doctor who surprisingly gives a different perspective to the plan.

In some detail: Mehmet is an idealist advertising photographer who has just separated from his girlfriend Selin. He deeply suffers from love pain but doesn't lose his hope of regaining her. Then he meets the mysterious Defne, who encourages him to take action before everything is too late. With the other close friends of Mehmet, they make a secret plan to bring back the lost love, Selin who is a very popular singer now, and the hopeful adventure which no one is sure of its ending whether it will be happy or not, begins.

This is the third movie of the popular singer Murat Boz and his role, Mehmet, fits him very well. Murat Boz again proves he is also a good actor besides being a very successful pop star.

Yasemin Allen in the role of Selin, is very beautiful in this film as always and displays her acting ability this time with a new stage performance of her: Singing. Singing makes her more elegant as a star. Her role Selin is not an ambitious girl but she knows what she wants from life and tries to achieve her dream job.

İrem Sak, who is a very talented actress, is in the role of Defne, a new friend for Mehmet. She surprisingly appears and gets included in Mehmet's life.

Uraz Kaygılaroğlu appears here as the best friend of Mehmet and brings fun, vividness to Mehmet's life and also to the scenario.

Congratulations also to the production group, TAFF Pictures which has many other successful movie and TV projects.

There are some other details that I would like to mention about "Dönerse Senindir" in this review but it would be better if you watch it yourself first.

Lastly, I would like to add that the song of the film is meaningful and the rhythm is very well and here I translated the lyrics to English:

Dönerse Senindir:

You've hugged emptiness

Your gravity has gone

Crumbs of your heart

Have become birds' appetizer

You've felt offended in vain

Your memory's been all broken

You've made yourself exhausted

Your dreams've become ashes

Wishing him/her to be beside you

Don't get sad anymore, stop

If he/she really loved you

At the end he/she will be yours

If he/she returns, he/she is yours

If he/she hadn't loved you, nothing could have been done

If it happens that he/she doesn't return,

Even so, as he/she wishes,

Should one say "Stay" to someone leaving?

Nice film with great magical performances
13 June 2016
Among the other movies in the theaters this week, this is a good choice to spend your two hours..

I think the age warning of above 13 for this movie is actually right. My advice is that if you're above 40, it may not entertain you because this film doesn't include much logic among some events that follow one another.

Another thing is that this is also a movie about a struggle of saving the world from the bad guys. There many movies like that but this movie saves itself from being boring with the humor & sarcasm of the characters. Magics which we cannot come across in real life help a lot to take the movie to a higher position in the audience's point of view.

Best parts of the film:

1. The voyage of the horsemen after they jump through the tunnel.

2. When four of the horsemen are together in a room where they are being searched for a possible theft.

3. The magical performances of the horsemen in a city center at a special day of the year.

4. The audience may not guess how the film will end, will the horsemen succeed or not?

5. There may be a 3rd film of this series.

My Brother (2016)

Good work, the film is more beautiful than its fragmans
16 January 2016
I watched the film in the premiere in Istanbul, where Burak Özçivit & Aslı Enver visited the audience in every cinema room & talked with us. They were so polite & respectful that I was pleased to know them more closely.

Regarding the film, first of all I can say that Burak Özçivit, Aslı Enver & Murat Boz have caught a good harmony with each other while performing their roles in the film. Their sincerity can be felt by the audience easily & this makes the movie more watchable.

The story is well organized with some surprise events & outcomes. Although it reminds us some of the Disney movies like the ones acted by Jonas Brothers, etc, this movie is of higher quality than those Hollywood versions in terms of the acting, lines of characters, the logic of the story & the audience(not only teenage) it addresses.

Since Murat Boz sings songs with his clear & strong voice in some scenes, we, the audience can also have a taste of nice music while watching a movie.

In my opinion, Aslı Enver was successful in her role in the series, "Suskunlar" & Burak Özçivit was successful in his roles in the series "Çalıkuşu" & "Muhteşem Yüzyıl". They have also other works but I liked their performances much more in those series maybe because of their characters in those series were more likable for me. In this film they also perform well.

This movie's story is much more lively than the dramatic movie, "Aşk Sana Benzer" so Burak Özçivit has made a good decision to act in a different type of story this time.

A scene is taken in a street (in the corner of which there is a beautiful tree with colorful leaves) in Burgazada where in last summer I also had a picture there without knowing that would be one of the film's locations. So, this was surprise for me.

As a result, I've found the movie successful, you may watch it with your friends or family to spend good time & see it with your own eyes to comment rightly

Delibal, a movie of live fast, die young style
23 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie in the gala held on Sunday 20 December 2015. The gala was very crowded with actors and actresses from the other TV series that Çağatay Ulusoy or Leyla Lydia Tuğutlu took part in.

Regarding the film I can first of all introduce you the main character Barış, a lively, smart, talented university student acted by Çağatay Ulusoy(ÇU). ÇU gives life to Barış very naturally, he has a good voice & plays instruments like a professional.

The other main character Füsun (Leyla Lydia Tuğutlu) who is a hard- working, responsible university student, has given a promise to his father to go on her education in the USA. Both Barış & Füsun are in their last year at the same university.

Barış Aytaç who acts as a friend of Füsun, displays also a natural acting performance with his role. Before this movie, he acted very well in a TV series recently.

Mustafa Avkıran, in the role of father of Füsun is well fit as a firm, disciplined, idealistic parent character. His acting is undebatably strong as we all may know many of his works so far.

The scene when Füsun is taken to the stage to sing reminds a scene of Katie Holmes & Chad Michael Murray in Dawson's Creek. But it is a good way to emphasize that for the friends of Barış & where he plays, Füsun is now a part of their friend group.

The scene when Barış proposes Füsun is well organized & impressive. The last part of the film is good in that it doesn't have a similar ending of most of the other films in the same type but I don't want to give much detail here for those who want to watch the movie.

The song composed by Sezen Aksu & sang by ÇU in the film,"Mutlu Sonsuz" fits the scenario very well & therefore increases the dramatic effect of the story. ÇU sings so sincerely that the audience feels the emotion deeply.

In conclusion, this film begins telling the story of two young people & how they shape their future according to love or career. Then one of them finds himself to decide whether to live happily with his beloved wife with a risk of giving harm to her or to sacrifice himself for her safe..

Good work, this film has an international aspect
13 November 2015
The beauty of the film cannot be understood from the trailers, you should watch it.

(Some people say that Cem Yılmaz(CY) asks vote from his fans, I don't believe in that, every film has its own audience. Besides, no one knows who votes from here so CY cannot know if any of his fans vote or not. Actually, I am not a fan of any famous person. If others like a movie but you don't, you can't blame that the ratings here are not real. You don't have to like every movie and cannot judge others' choices.)

I saw the movie last night at the premiere, it was funny even from the start. This film has a more international aspect compared to past films of CY because it is located in Sofia, Bulgaria & has foreign actor/actresses, foreign people (producers, assistant directors, etc) who have worked in the making of the film.

"Ali Baba & the 7 Dwarfs", has references to many Hollywood movies, including Hunger Games, Predator, James Bond. In some scenes, you can hear good Turkish local music (especially Barış Manço's songs) sang by the actors, themselves. İzzet Altınmeşe's son is also in the film starring as his father's youth. There is also reference to a previous film of CY, "Av Mevsimi" with a song, "Hayde Gidelum".

In all his movies, CY is successful reflecting his local values on the screen & interacting them with the foreign ones in a critical way.

It was very well thought to use a character, Boris Mancov who knows many languages including English, German, French, Italien, Arabian, etc.

There are many parts in the film that makes you really amused & these amusements keep your attention, your mood high till the end of the film while making you really laugh a lot at many times. (Ex: "How Şenay help you?")

Just before the scene when Şenay(Cem Yılmaz), İlber (Çetin Altay) & Veronika (Irina Ivkina) come across Kenan Memedov(Zafer Algöz), Kenan Memedov looks around the forest from underground with a periscope. In this scene, Kenan Memedov character reminds the wizard in the forest, Radagast the Brown in the Lord of the Rings Series. Zafer Algöz's Azerbaijan accent is perfect & his manners, the way he tells who he really is, is funny.

With this film, CY has answered again that he doesn't use same actors or actresses in all his films. Çetin Altay, Josi Mizrahi, Irina Ivkina, Can Yılmaz(brother of Cem Yılmaz), and many other new faces are in "Ali Baba & the 7 Dwarfs". In one scene we see Ozan Güven (the actor recently from the film, "Pek Yakında") in a picture that Kenan Memedov shows us. Although this is Irina Ivkina's first acting experience, she is natural & successful. She adds a good image among other characters with her different Turkish accent (but fluent) & with her native Russian. Fahradin Fahradinov & Mariya Anastasyeva who played the roles of Interpol agents were also very well fit in the film.

In summary, I advise you to watch this movie which is in theaters today, if you want to have fun, forget about the stresses of life & if you want to watch characters who have nice wit (=are skilled at using words in a clever and humorous way).

I wish CY, the director, actor & scenarist of "Ali Baba & the 7 Dwarfs" will make another film again soon. Turkish movie needs such brave & intelligent people who can make local values spread internationally & who can introduce Turkish actors, actresses to the world.

Impressive submarine struggle & gold dream
4 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Some characters were so tough-looking that while watching you feel some of the people in the submarine will die. Jude Law acted his role so perfectly that he was a very authoritarian leader & guided the team with his belief in them that they would finally succeed their aim of taking the gold to the surface of the sea.

What Daniels confessed after they brought all the gold inside was shocking for Jude Law as well as the audience. Fraser was right for the first time when he suggested killing Daniels but they thought they needed him to take the submarine to the surface. Robinson (Jude Law)'s only mistake was not letting them kill Daniels.

The last part was very touching when Daniels sacrificed himself to save the two people and to send all the gold to the surface some part of which to be sent to his family he will never see again.

"Pek Yakında" is incredibly perfect-great work of Cem Yilmaz
4 October 2014
Pek Yakında is the best of Cem Yilmaz movies in my opinion. It is funny, gives messages, includes many topics, has some references to a few popular Hollywood movies such as Avatar, Fight Club, Oceans 11. I don't like every movie but I recommend this to everyone. The music in the film belongs to the group, MFO and perfectly fits the subject, the rhythm is great. You don't get bored during the film, instead final of it is not easily predictable. Caglar Corumlu is very funny as always and Ozan Guven acts so naturally. The scene in the hospital where main characters argue about finding a new actor for their film is nice and surprising in that they make fun of themselves and Yilmaz Erdogan appears suddenly in the scene..
