Moonfall (2022)
Why all the negativety
Okay so is this a classic of modern cinema .. nope.
However as a spectacle it's a fun few hours, with great effects and some really enjoyable performances.
Yeah it 'jumps genres but that for me was what made it enjoyable. Personally I would like a sequel.
Anyway that's my two penn'orth worth. 😊
Come from Away (2021)
One of the true Greats
This show tells the story of the 7000 passengers who were diverted to Gander Newfoundland and the 9000 locals who looked them, in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attack.
Everyone should watch this show. You will laugh, you will cry and you will come out feeling just a little better about the world.
Oh and I've seen this show in the West End (London) 5 times in 3 trips. One by doing a 340 mile round trip driving just to see it.
This filmed version is great. It really captures the heart of the piece. A must watch from me.
The Stand (2020)
Not as bad as 'everyone' seems to say
Okay so I've read the book and have the previous mini series on dvd, and watched it at least twice. I was really looking forward to this and have just finished binging it in a day.
It's not as bad as the other reviews say, I enjoyed it. It's not as good, in my opinion as the previous mini series, but definitely worth a watch.
The Prom (2020)
Okay so it appears I an a high school principal
Is this one of the great musicals? No not really, it is however a fun, entertaining movie with a great cast and some nice songs.
It has great messages of understanding and live and let live.
Oh and my tag line?
Well I'm a 50 odd year old straight male who loves musicals and theatre and works in an office. So the song sung by the principal SO summed up what theatre means to me it was spooky. Oh and at this time of lockdowns when theatres have been dark for so long I needed this musical.
Check out this fun, entertaining, heart warming movie. Its well worth it.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018)
Get over it! All the negative reviewers
I saw and loved the original, and was really looking forward to this sequel. Would I have preferred it without the sad story thread, yes. Did it spoil the whole film for me no!
This is a great movie, the young cast compliment the original perfectly, and Lily James is a star.
This is a great feel good movie which also has the power to move you in places too. Okay so the chronology was messed with, they didn't plan this as a trilogy or Marvel like series of films from the start, so they had to ... adapt things.
Just sit back relax and enjoy great music, excellently staged and performed. A great movie and well worth seeing more than once.
