Moses (II) (2018)
5/10
While based on Moses, it does take some more wordly steps....
16 May 2024
To start, I realize anything created by a non-religious company is going be tainted in some way and not accurate.

So this series is amazingly beautiful. The acting is great. It's a great series to watch as a Christian. However you will begin to see some issues.

For starters because its a complication of Islam, Christianity and Judism, some things aren't accurate or may favor one religion more then another. Or somethings just feel out of place.

For example the Islamic scholars often mention god or Allah. Well Allah is not god, and yet their switch between the two like they are on in the same. Another issue some of the supposed Christian scholars say things like "Mother God". I've never heard a Christian call God a mother. Feels like a new age view.

There is also a emphasis on social justice. You'd think Netflix is hinting that perhaps Moses would support modern day causes. Granted they never say that of course. But the words social justice today often refers to modern views from the more liberal of people.

Moses was no doing social justice, he was going what God commanded. And thus if was alive today he would not support many modern things as God does not change.

There are also some quotes from the bible that are said wrong. For example God says "I am what I am", but in this He says "I am all that I am". While not a big deal, its inaccurate.

If your going into this, just be prepared to have an open mind as its focusing on things from three religions scholars.

You'll lose brain cells watching this.
21 April 2024
I don't really get into conspiracy stuff much. But I was bored and though I'd check this out as it was "popular" on Netflix. Wow what a crappy and snoozable series.

The biggest problem is it sounds like its going to connect all these big things, but never actually has anything big in it. Tentacles of story here and there with random incidents and things. Nothing that even really convinces you of anything other then you wasted your time watching it.

It also jumps around alot with lots of info, lots of names, lots of stories to the point of it becomes a giant ball of mess as you either are confused or forgot what their original point was.

I actually waited two day before watching episode 2 and when I started watching it, I kinda forget what the first episode was about. Nothing really ever sticks or or makes you care all that much. Reminds me very much of the boston bombing event where people on Reddit were posting endless theories as to who did it. Like a picture of a guy standing on the roof with a "device" in his hand. Or some guy who looked strange....etc.

In other words if your expecting anything deep and sensical in this, don't waste your time. It just pulls on very tiny random things that you forget why they are even linked in the first place. Come on Netflix, you can do better then this.

But as always once something becomes a tiny bit popular, they promote the heck out of it so more people watch it and thus they can claim its an amazing series. If you read reviews many people turned it off after during or after the first episode. Those who stuck around felt disappointed.

Many are correct, the narrator is immature and it ruins it...
14 March 2024
While there is no doubt this program has issues, some of the people in this documentary come off as still troubled and having issues. Thus showing why they were in the program to begin with.

Perhaps the worst part is the person that made this and narrates it, she is incredibly immature. You can tell she's a trouble maker and has issues. You quickly lose sympathy for her because of this. Again, it doesn't mean the program they were forced into is ok, but you can tell she needed (and still does) some kind of help.

Her aside, the whole thing comes across from only one view of the angry teens who went there. Despite the fact not everyone working there was terrible. And of course some bad talk about religion, as if any normal religious person would think this program was ok.

In the end I gave up halfway through episode 2. I kept not caring as much as long as the narrator kept talking. They needed a more mature person to narrate so we could have more sympathy and not be drawn out of the moments.

Great series to show how braindead, uneducated and stupid young adults are in America.
6 November 2023
This documentary is hilarious as many of he young adults in it still think they are cool despite how bad vaping is. These are young adults that may have gone to college, that want to be cool, that are easily influenced because they lack self control. They are hate cigs because they are bad, but bought into vaping not realizing they are exactly the same as their parents and grandparents were. Heck, some people in the documentary admit to being underage or lying to get into Juul parties.

So if you want to watch a documentary about vaping, this is for you. But if you want to watch a documentary showing how young people, who claim to be smarter the older folk, are just as dumb and failing us. This documentary is also for you.

Also be sure to check out the 3rd video in which Gen Z act like life is horrible and the world is ending for them. It's kinda hilarious to see young people who think life is hard in the age of technology where things are way easier then they used to be. "Life is hard so its nice to just be able to go on social media and scroll to feel better". Wow, what a sad life. These are out future leaders.

It should be noted that while yes, the kids getting sick were buying third party stuff, Juul workers who were interviewed STILL made excuses and claimed Juul is still ok to use. Yes its better then cigarettes. But not by alot. Your still sucking down carcinogenic.

To claim its safe because its not as bad as a cig is like saying "I used to drink a 12 pack of beer then drive, now I only drink 8 beers then drive! It's much safer!" Or its like playing russian roulette, but instead of one of 6 chambers being blank, 2 are instead. Still very much dangerous.

The interviewed workers who praise Juul still, they still never talk about the fact that kids still vape now. They don't seem to mention it still is hurtful to anyone, especially teens. Mind you we still haven't seen the long term effects of vapping fully.

If you manage to stick around to the end of the series, you will see those who spoke (but did not appear on camera) really rip into Juul. My review already has some people downvoting it buts thats ok, it goes to show blind people will vap no matter what because they truly think a product like 10% less bad for you is somehow a great end goal to get away from cigs.

Great series, except for the crazy followers of David in it....
3 October 2023
While there is no doubt mistake were made and what happened at Waco was a disaster, I think even if all went better, it would have still ended badly. These followers were prepared to kill themselves if anyone came insides and kill anyone who wanted to stop them. And that is what this documentary shows. In the end ATF had a warrent and a battle would have started regardless of the mistakes ATF made at first. While this documentary doesn't go deep into David and his messed up beliefs, it does give you some stories from people on both sides.

Perhaps the most troubling part was that the followers talking in the documentary STILL seem to believe David was Jesus and still seem super brainwashed. Everything David did, they still seen it as him being Jesus. From being shot in the side, like Jesus being poked in the side. To releasing hostages 2 at a time, boy and a girl.

On a personal level as a Christian, it just angers me that these people could call themselves Christian and yet have such wild beliefs. Like David having many wives, including kids. Or how he was Jesus. Or how taking their lives was somehow biblical. They are what give so many Christians a bad name because they believe wild cult leaders who target the weak in mind. Every time a follower was on screen I cringed and wanted to yell at them and their naive talk of innocence and acting according to Gods will. Just disgusting.

This all aside, its not a deep documentary if you want details in the cult itself. But it is nice for stories from both sides leading up to, during and after the battle. And it does show that there was indeed conflict from various government agencies that defiantly messed up way to much and made it kind of an embarrassing disaster. Even if it would have ended badly either way.

-edit- I should note if your looking for them to talk about all the mistakes they made, they don't bother for some reason. Especially how the smoke grenades may have accidentally started the fire that burned down the compound. Though they claimed the audio shows the followers set it.

Despite the fact they had planned to suicide using guns and grenades, not burning themselves to the ground. Showing it was the gas grenades that accidentally started caused the fire.

I should also point out the one follower they interview (her name escapes me), she is wearing a yellow sweater. She is a total nutjob. Talking about having sex with David as a young teen was what she always wanted as it was having sex with God and a "bible study" as David mover her around the bed. She also talks about sex with girls at least 12 and older is wrong in "our belief system". Like I said, it makes you sick hearing creepy things like this. I truly hope this woman does not have kids, if so CPS should look into her. She was sadly be disappointed when she meets the real God.

Ignore the obvious paid high rating votes and read a REAL review like mine.
7 August 2023
I loved the first movie. I had heard the were working a second one and happened to stumble upon the title of this one a week before it came out. I searched and found out this isn't Bird Box 2, this is just a spin-off movie. Think of a "Straight to DVD" kinda deal. In other words usually terrible. Regardless I added this to Netflix so I could watch it when it came out.

Well finally watched it and what a terrible movie. So and I stopped watching it the first time and then out of pure boredom came back a week later to finish it. Whlie the acting is not too bad, everything else felt shallow and boring. The effects were passable. But a lot of the horror didn't hit as hard and because of a certain plotline from the start, I can't spoil it in this review.

The storyline itself was essentially the same sort of story as the first movie. But with people that make endless mistakes to the point of you wonder if they had a brain. And you don't care about ANY of them. There is no real connection made. They are just people in a movie that you don't care about one way or another. And much of the movie was so predictable that it took away a lot of suspense. The end of the movie..... was just dumb. Felt like you wasted your time watching the movie.

And for whatever reason the english audio dubs felt out of place, emotionless, and very much felt like they were recorded in a booth. I did (upon finishing it) switch back to the native audio and put on english subtitles. And while it made it a tad better, it didn't really do anything to save the movie.

I think the worst part is this movie has some people giving it 8 stars and up. Do you know what other movies have an 8 star rating? At the bottom of the top 250 movies of all time are movies like Alladin, Dances with Wolves, Life of Brian, and The Iron Giant. Are you saying this was equal to those?!? And anything higher like a 9 or 10.... are you serious? Your saying this is the best movie of all time along side The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption, Schindlers List, Pul Fiction and LOTR? What?

Thankfully as you can see this movie has 150 reviews with an average of 5.3, which should tell you a lot. Though 5.3 is generous. More like 4.0. The movie is watchable, but don't expect anything more than a spin off that was obviously meant to try and do well given it was targeting Spain more. There is some good news though, if you need something to help you fall asleep, this is it!

Twisted Metal (2023– )
8/10
Surprisingly good series adaption of the video game series!
28 July 2023
When I heard Peacock was going to have an exclusive series Twisted Metal, based on the beloved video game series. I didn't have high hopes. The trailer left me feeling like it looked ok, but would probably still be a let down. Just some cheap script they made to try and cash in on something.

But I was wrong. The series is great! Alot for us Twisted Metal fans and alot for newcomers. They did a good job at turning a videogame series about car fighting into a series, with people on top of it. There were people in the video games of course but just characters, you just drove their cars.

I will say this series is NOT meant to be serious or deep. It's just a fun entertaining ride of adult mayhem. Cars, guns, gore, language, action...etc. I'm only a few episodes in and loving it!

I'll change my review later if for some reason the show becomes terrible. To note, you really don't need to know anything about Twisted Metal games to watch this.

-now finished series- Finished the last episode and can say yes, the whole season was great. No spoilers but there was alot of reveals in the last two episodes when it comes to famous TM stuff. The final episode felt much like a actual TM battle.

The series does have some pretty cheesy moments. But it seems to work in favor of it. I know they greenlit a season 2, I hope we get introduced to more characters/cars.

While the show mainly focuses on the characters, there is just enough TM content that keeps us fans invested. And if you don't know TM lore, you probably will get all the exciting things you see. You will enjoy them, but the reveal may not mean as much to you.

This all said I wouldn't mind if they toned down the cheesiness just a bit. While the show can be dark, I'd like it even darker. Twisted Metal Black had a very dark nature to it. Maybe next season they will get into the darker lore. Granted so far the series is filled with violence, gore, language so its NOT for kids in anyways.

Oh and hint... next season will be more like TM then you realize.... ;)

Cocaine Bear (2023)
2/10
So.... where is the bear in the movie?
10 March 2023
What a terrible movie. So glad my friend paid for my ticket. The trailer makes it out to be about a bear who ate cocaine and went on a rampage. But what the trailers doesn't show is you instead get introduced to endless characters and most of the movie becomes about random people.

From drug dealers, to a ranger to others. You "bearly" get to see the bear at all. Which ends up making the movie beyond boring. Unless you want to see the stories of all these people.

Admittedly I had no expectation for this movie. I knew I was lose brain cells watching it. If you want a horror movie, go watch something else. If you want to save yourself time, just read the actual story of the cocaine bear. Sure, the story is short, stupid and no interesting. But its still better then this movie. Hollywood is out of ideas.

Great, but prepare for hidden political messages.
3 December 2022
Review is after this brief message that prepare yourself for the normal Netflix trend of putting in a bunch of political messages. All parables really. Apersons whos parents don't accept them and want "conversion therapy". Many cases of stuff like this that you will notice if you looked deeper. And of course the push for race/religion/gender stuff as always. Sometimes its hard to notice, other times its very visible like when out of no where you briefly meet a teens "moms". You meet them for a few seconds, but never hear from them again.

At least if your going to make statements, add them into the story and not just quick snippets. Because it looks like you try to hard to get people to think your diverse. People like diverse when you actually don't shove it in ones face in a brief scene so you can say "See, we are diverse!"

So onto the rest of the series....

I love this darker version of Wednesday and the Addams family. The actress plays the role perfectly. I was actually surprised how bland Zeta felt playing Morticia. Gomez's actor was great in the role. So was Pugsley and Lurch. Even Thing was great. I love they gave him a more creepy look with scars and a sown up nub where the arm used to be.

Without spoiling anything I will just say the theme of the show is solving a mystery. And a good one at that as it has you questioning everyone and then revealing "Wow, I was wrong!" Along side the mystery is of course the story of a school for ....more super natural gifted students.

Now as for who may like this series? If you want cute family with light "darkness" like the old movies and show, this isn't for you. However if you want a more darker and stranger version, this is for you. The show does feature blood and guts, nothing extreme mind you. But enough that you probably don't want your young kids seeing it. And it deals with some more adult stuff.

This isn't to say it doesn't have its funny moments of course. The comedy is still there, just a bit darker then normal. And Wednesday alone often makes you laugh because she is much darker, brooding and cold then normal.

Lastly I will say for those who gave it a 1 or 10, these are the reviews to ignore. They always complain about the show got the opposite number. 10s don't exist in reviews. And 1s are very rare. 1 would mean the shoe was literally unwatchable. Poorly filmed, terrible acting, no story, bad editing....etc..

And many of the negative reviews often mention Wednesday being to dark and way to cold to her mother. Well yes, she is darker. But as for her mother, all I can say is you obviously didn't watch past the first few episodes.

Was pretty interesting until you figured out the guys theory behind everything.
27 November 2022
I'm all for interesting theories. After all theories are what science and discovery are about. Figuring out what is true or not. After two episodes though I was starting to see a pattern.

For starters much of everything he was saying was theories. No real evidence. At least nothing that would cause a big deal. The biggest issue was all the episodes seem to revolve around the belief that there was a ancient civilization BEFORE our early records of civilization that existed. These people were "giants" who went around teaching various peoples about how to engineer things that would normally have not been known to early man as we were gatherera/hunters at the time.

I kind of lost interest at that point. Again, I love fun theories. But the idea of ancient giants who existed early on and taught people, just felt absurd. I mean we don't even have evidence of giants. Only records of "giants" we have are not giants as we think in fantasy stuff, but people who were just very tall for their time.

Now some argue (like the guy does) that the community doesn't want to accept they may be wrong about even earlier civilizations. And I do agree that sometimes its hard for a group of people to admit they may be wrong about things. However, most of this guys rants are just based on old stories and "theories".

I seen one later episode was about Atlantis. Which really puts the nail in the coffin for me because as interesting as something like Atlantis is, its been taken far out of context and was never actually a place that existed. It was just used as a made up scenario to talk about something.

Now. I can't deny the fact that many ancient stories talk about related things like big floods, sudden ice age...etc. I mean we all know various disasters and massive events happened of course. But beyond that is just conspiracy.

Lastly I should note many people think this guy isn't wrong because we existed way before what's talked about in this series. Yes, we existed but we are talking about when civilization started. Not when humans "existed". Civilization is a concept that is something we progressed to. And most evidence shows it started not long ago (in terms of the history of earth).

This series is good for a fun romp through a conspiracy. But thats about it. Take things he says with a grain of salt. Remember he a is book writer and journalist (of sorts). Not an actually historian or scientist. It would be like Michael Crichton (author of Jurassic Park) telling us about dinosaurs as if he knows what he is talking about.

An movie that is almost was epic as a Avengers movie, but in a different way. Though I do have a few complaints.
16 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the first movie of course and like many was shocked by Chadwicks passing. And like many we were on pins and needles wondering how it would be handled with the second movie. The trailer looked great but still me a bit nervous. Could the movie hold up with Chadwick? Would their choices work? How will the story change the MCU given Chadwicks death?

I can safely say they nailed it with only a few complaints from myself.

For starters this movie is nearly three hours long. And I can see why. I feel they could have almost made it even longer given how much goes on in this movie. I don't want to say the movie is rushed, but its scale is massive and they really had to cram what they could into under three hours. This is perhaps my only complaint, because of its scale you are really bombarded with endless information and still have some questions. Granted I realize it may also feel this way due to having to rewrite and add more to the story involving the original Black Panther. Again, this is a minor complaint.

The movie itself is way more than just an average Marvel movie. It felt more like an Avengers movie in terms of scale and epicness. I was blown away by everything. There is a lot of dialogue at times, probably to the point that some may not like it. However at no point did I feel like "This is boring, move on!". Every word of dialogue has meaning and emotion behind it. While this movie is for sure about good vs bad, its very much about mourning, death, acceptance and trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do. Death can lead to people either still being good... or turning bad. It's complicated. And you feel that back and forth in this movie with many characters. I strongly encourage you go into this with tissue. This movie is the one that has made me tear up the most.

When it comes to the new enemies, they did a wonderful job with taking from the comics. And everything just felt right with the Mayan culture and stories. The music of Wakanda's people vs Namors people is beautiful. Both give you chills. Especially went the two themes sometimes cross over into each other. This is where perhaps there is another issue though. Namor is amazing, the actor is perfect, the costume is perfect....everything is perfect. But some people while walking out were saying how "silly" or "absurd" Namors ability to fly with little wings attached to his feet.

I know Marvel is slowly bringing mutants into the MCU, and even thought Namor is mentioned as being a mutant (more or less), seeing how feet wings may turn people off because we aren't really used to somewhat silly looking things. Though if you watch Thos, none of this should be that shocking. If people can get past and just accept Namors mutant feet wings, you will enjoy him overall.

Another issue the movie minorly affects it is the CGI. Let's face it, underwater stuff is still hard to get people to believe. It's just not something we are used to. It may look beautiful, but your mind still may find it hard to grasp how the underwater cities work. People swimming around, merchants just in the water with floating merchant stands...etc. It just feels weird. It could just be me of course. That said the scenes are very beautiful underwater. Another issue is the end battle, while well done, sometimes felt a bit off. Without going into to much detail, I'll just say a battle takes place on the water and it just looked and felt weird. Not awful mind you, just out of place.

Shuri was just amazing. Alot of the focus was on her. You could feel the emotions in everything she said and did. Same with her mother. Perhaps the only minor complaint I could come up with for characters is Ri Ri Williams (aka Iron Heart). While I did enjoy seeing the character on the big screen, something about her felt off. It may just be the tone of the movie is taking away from her character. I also can hear some people whining about she's a black woman whos the next Iron Man. Get over it people. I'm a white guy, I loved it! I am glad she is getting her own series on Disney so we can explore her more and get more attached.

Lastly we have Chadwick/Black Panther. Disney really nailed it. The opening wastes no time getting into why T'challa is not in this. It hits deep and the emotions are very strong. They may have been having a celebration for T'challas life in the start, but you could feel it was really also a celebration of Chadwick (without mention of course). I'm glad they didn't go down a terrible road of having him appear in some weird CGI version. We don't see him. We don't see what happens. We just see a start with a emotional "here's what happened" moment.

You may be asking why did I give this a 8 out of 10 with so many complaints. Well they were all really minor. And mainly going by what I heard others talking about as we left the theater. In the end this movie is a epic movie of its own kind. It's a memorial to Chadwick/T'Challa while also opening up the future of the series more. I will likely see it again just because the scale of it had so much to look a that a second watch is needed. Oh and if your wanting for a after credits scene, there is none. There is one scene after about 30 second of credits, then after that scene its regular credits and the movie just ends. They made a good choice to end it like that.

Andor (2022– )
8/10
Slow, alot of talking.... and yet you keep wanting more!
4 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Unlike alot of SW series, this show is not some galactic wide scale where there are endless battles, tons of ships, tons of action. They go the route of telling the story of Andor (from Rouge One) from the ground level. From the peoples point of view. From an average citizen, to a wealthy person, to Imperial security....etc. The show doesn't rely on cameos or endless name drops like "Vader" or "Luke" or anything.

While you do know some people such as Andor, Mon Mothma...etc, most of this series is of people you may not really know. It's a slow show with a lot of dialogue, but not in a boring way. It keeps pulling you to want to see the next episode. It's like watching a long chess game play out but with people interactions and what next moves.

I'd almost say its more of a spy thriller with drama. Even if your framiliar with the lore of SW, you really learn alot more of the workings of all sides behind the scenes that we never really get to see. There are currently three episodes left and I am so happy I have watched it so far. The show is slowly building towards its climax finale. It's got me hooked.

Again, if you are looking for nothing but action, adventure, space battles, soldiers fighting....etc. This isn't for you. There is not much "action" at least in terms of epic scale of most other SWs stuff.

Even if you haven't see Rouge One, you should see this as it takes place much earlier. Though I do recommend you indeed watch Rouge One first to establish some what happens in the future.

I do hope we get some more SW series like this. Seeing how everything works behind the scenes of a galaxy at war, is fascinating to me.

Amazing, fascinating, terrifying. You may think you know alot about the Nepal event, but this showed so much more that happened from a human level.
7 October 2022
Like most people, I remember the footage of the earthquake from Nepal in 2015. I remember seeing buildings collapse, fall apart and one or two avalanche videos. It was horrible. When I see this series was released on Netflix I figure I would watch it. Turns out its more then just some normal documentary where a narrator talks and they show you various things you have already seen before.

Instead it's a multi-episode series in which survivors share their stories, along with new footage from what it was like at ground level. Especially up on the various bases of Everest. At times you see footage and your heart races. In other cases you just see a person talking about something and you can see yourself in that situation and afraid.

This is an excellent documentary. You will get viewpoints from tourists to guides to the average citizens. It puts everything into even more perspective about how tragic the event was. And the pace of each episode is very nice. There are no rushed stories, no loud music trying to drum up emotion, just raw footage of people talking about the events and of course raw recorded footage from that day. I will say, while I don't think I could ever afford to travel to another country, nor handle mountain climbing, this documentary made me have zero interest in ever doing it. Seeing how dangerous it is. What happened literally happened in an instant on the mountain itself. People had zero warning or time to do anything but think their lives were about to end.

The ONLY thing annoying was in the last episode when the Israelis guys made excuses that they felt attacked and they were actually "good people". After a place was wiped out, they broke open a locked box and took all the money out. Then when caught people of course got mad. Then later then found a GPS device and didn't tell anyone because they were afraid for their lives. Give me a break guys, you are terrible people.

Great series to watch for laughs as teens in prison pretend they are tough thugs.
2 October 2022
While prison shows are always interesting, shows with kids under 18 always make me laugh. Something about teens and their lack of maturity pretending they are super bad*ss. Series can be sad of course because of how young they are. But its also great if you need something to laugh at. Every adult knows these teens would not make it in a adult prison. And facts are most teens who move onto to adult prisons, end up crying for their parents right away.

Fact is they don't realize a teen prison is easy because, you know, its full of teens. About as scary as a sloth coming to attack you. They are mixed in with other teens who all compete to be "thug" like and it shows how sad they are that they think it actually impresses anyone.

In adulthood and in adulty prison, no one really is scared of your teenage thug wanna be attitude. To them, your just easy pickings as fresh meat to control. Sadly you can tell most of these girls think they are that 1% of teens that can make it in a adult prison.

That's the only part I feel bad about. Not realizing teen prison is very different from adult prison. Most of them running their mouths get away with it in teen prison. In adult prison you just get thrown to the ground, get masked and thrown in solitary. And if you run that mouth again adults, you will likely end up shanked or at the least, beat up.

I'd love to see a future series to see if them make it to adult prison so we can get some extra laughs as they endlessly cry and get put into place by not only the officers, but by other inmates who are actually hardcore thugs you never want to mess with.

---edit--- After starting season 2, I have to say I have some mixed views now. Some of the girls do try to change as a person for the better. Which is great to see. However some still just fall back into their ways once back in the streets. In one case with Cassie, her mom easily gets enraged. Cassie makes excuses for her mom, but she fails to see her mom doesn't care that much if she hasn't gotten help to control her rage. Because that will still end up bringing back Cassies anger issues also. She needs to move out when she's 18 to a calmer environment

Admiteddly many of these kids come from tough streets or run down cities. Which tends to lead to troublesome kids.

Horrible fictional garbage. And the rating seems to be for no real reason.

So first off, the movie made the news when it was said to have a NC-17 rating. We were never really told why. It seems like it was given that rating just to drawn attention to the movie because the movie was had about much language, nudity...etc as a R rated movie.

As for the movie itself.... overhyped trash. This is based on a fictional book and not her true story. It's sad that she can't even get a legit story but instead gets a fake version. All that aside the movie is almost 3 hours long. And its very slow moving. There are some disturbing scenes of course, but nothing really shocking compared to other movies.

You still get the feeling she was abused by everyone of course. But that's about it. Again, since its not her actual story, it feels like your watching some tabloid version of her life. What a waste of time and such overblown hype. But I know it will win Oscars because "critics" will probably love it for some reason.

Only reason I even gave it a three was the actress nailed her voice and how she acted.

Great Thor movie, but really suffered from same major issue.
15 September 2022
Thor Dark World is still the worst Thor movie. But this one is next. The problem with this movie is:

1. It's the same subplot with Thor "finding himself", which is overdone at this point.

2. The dark/sad tone and moments of this movie is often overshadowed by the humor. Which just doesn't work well as even in the darkest moments, they follow it up with some cheesy joke that just feels out of place.

3. The humor is great as always. But sadly many of the jokes end up feeling less funny and more cringy. The tried to hard.

4. The goats..... people either loved them or hated them...strongly. And they really went over board with the goats to the point of the joke lost its charm afterawhile.

5. While Bale did an amazing job as Gorr. Again, the serious/dark nature of him was still lost or less effective due tot he constant humor. The contrast really threw things off.

6. The story overall sort of felt all over the place and almost rushed. I hate to say it but the best parts were in the trailer.

7. Lastly they really pushed the bounds of "out there" ideas from the comics. It had its moments of corniness where many said it was overboard. For example one of the gods we meet is literally a cartoony looking. Boa is the dumpling god. He has a anime look and smile. I laughed, but many thought it was just stupid. Moments like this were to much for most audiences it seemed.

In the end, I personally enjoyed the movie. But I can see why so many felt the movie had some issues. I love Thor, I just hope in the future they resolve these issues. I think part of it may also be Taika Waititi's role in the making of the movie. As great as he is, sometimes he needs to have some more restraint.

Boring, unfunny, shallow...
26 August 2022
So I am not filipino, but my wife is from the Philippines. So when she seen the trailer for this movie we decided we would rent it when it came out to stream/rent. What a mistake. The only partially funny stuff is in the trailer. The rest of the movie is beyond boring and all over the place.

Most of the jokes feel forced and make you cringe. The humor is pretty shallow and really seems to make fun of filipino culture and paint it in a bad light rather then show how great filipino culture can be.

Everyone in the movie (even non-filipinos) seem to act like nasty idiots to everyone. It felt like the lead actor (who I read is a comedian) basically took his jokes and tried to make them into a movie. It just doesn't work. This feels more like something you may see on TV instead. I can see why ticket sales were low.

While they movie had one amazing cameo, even this persons cameo felt forced and boring. I regret renting the movie for free. Couldn't pay me to watch it again. To note it was so slow we stopped watching after 45 minutes. Again, if my filipino wife finds it boring... you know its bad.

I did check out the actors comedy online and I'd say his comedy is at least funny, where as this movie is not. Not to mention the movie has endless swearing in it. This whole movie is just an insult to filipino culture and makes everyone look shallow and nuts.

Believe it or not, some progressive liberals do not like the show! I can see why.
19 August 2022
We expected there to be some men who were triggered by a strong woman like She-Hulk. But what was not expected is how many progressive, liberal women were actually annoyed by She-Hulk. Some women are saying She-Hulk was supposed to be a strong, smart and funny woman. Not a stereotyped "heavy-handed feminist" as one woman said. They feel She-Hulk pushed it to much with the message and it backfired on the whole message of being a strong woman.

Me? I did notice they really pushed hard some dialogue about the subject but I didn't care really because I am just here for the show, not agendas or views....etc. That said they could have toned it down a bit.

But outside of that subject, the show is neither amazing nor bad. It's a bit fast-paced and oddly enough the first episode was very short. While I did enjoy the humor and interaction with Professor Hulk (Smart Hulk as he calls himself), outside of that things felt kind of flat. The CGI as everyone knows for She-Hulk isn't mind-blowing. Sometimes when she talks the lips even seem a bit off. But I give the show some slack because its a TV show budget, not a movie budget.

Overall I can't say there was anything that made me scream "Wow" or "Oh can't wait to see what's next!". I'll continue watching it is most of this series are only a few episodes of course. But hopefully the next episode is longer and has more going for it. I think it may be a bit harder with Hulk in it. Though the woman playing She-Hulk does do a great job.

While the CGI is amazing, the facts are.....not so factual.
19 August 2022
There is no doubt the CGI is beautiful in this. I loved every second of it. But much of the stuff talked about is simply speculation. Such as one dinos dung and how much it poops a year. Or certain interactions or even how certain dinos act. Technically we can't even know what they 100% looked like. Only in recent years did we decide some had feathers. Who knows how much it will change yet again another few decades from now.

So I say watch for the CGI, but don't try to hard to remember anything said as fact. Side note, while they got the velociraptors to look how we assume according to todays views, they still messed up some things with them. Granted again, its all just ideas.

Perhaps the best Predator movie? Color me impressed!
8 August 2022
As always the Alien and Predator franchises has had its last few movies been pretty bad. Especially with toned down ratings to make it more "appealing" to everyone. Likewise when I seen the trailer for this movie I had no expectations that it would be any good. Then I seen it was R rated, which gave me just a little hope. Regardless, I watched it anyways because I had heard it was way better then expected.

Wow. I dare say this is almost as good as the first movie. The original had its charm of course and is nostaglic because it was the 80s type of action movie. But this one has that same sort of feeling but obviously without some stereotypical 80s stuff. And given this takes place in the 1700s, they really nailed it. Movie had a ton of action including a ton of Predator. And as for gore? Bucket loads of gore! How a Predator movie should be!

I also enjoy that they made the Predator a bit (slightly) more less advanced to match the era. Don't take that the wrong way though, it's not like he is boring. He still has his tech. But it's a earlier Predator type for sure. And perhaps the most scary when you see him uncloaked! This was also the first time I actually rooted for the human(s). Sure I liked previous humans but none of them I ever really cared if they won or not. Predator was always the one you sort of wanted to win. In this though, as much as you love Predator, you very much want the human(s) to win.

I have no real complaints. Though I did notice a few people called it unrealistic that a Native American woman would be a fighter. Really? But there being a Preadtor with future tech is realistic? Lol. Side note, some of the movie later one has a lot of foreign langauge and no subtitles. Which is great because you really don't need to understand what they are saying since its obvious in how they talk, what their intentions are.

Excellent ending, not sure what others watched.
22 June 2022
I love this movie, its a great ending to the series (or at least this storyline). Lost of cameos and lore that tie even more things together. Got to see alot of new things to enjoy. I especially enjoyed how the very end was because I wasn't sure how they would go about it.

I feel the biggest reason the movie(s) are disliked is young people today think they are all movie critics and follow the Oscars. Thus they think the only good movie is something that is Oscar worthy. Movies exist to entertain us, not just win awards.

JP/JW were never super deep movies with deep stories, deep lines and deep everything. They were your normal summer fun films. The kind you just shut off your brain for and enjoy. If you liked all the movies so far, you will also enjoy this one. That simple.

Again, ignore the very bad reviews since they obviously are not able to just enjoy a movie and have fun. And to note, actually read the popular negative reviews, they all mention the hated the movies are predictable, ignore issues with plotholes...etc. Then they say the only good things about the movies are "they are fun". See? The movies are about fun and they don't like they are fun, to them fun is not enough. Hence the reviews are so bad, people lost the ability to have fun.

Good to see what Obi was up to, but the rest is hit or miss.
15 June 2022
I love that Obi is back and we get to see what he is up to. I also enjoy some twists so far of "other" people who are back or that we knew little about during this period.

That said the series just doesn't seem to do much for me like I hoped it would compared to the other SW series. Knowing who was coming back for it, I thought I would care more, but I don't as much.

One character (Reva) gets ALOT of hate in this series for her acting, among some racist stuff people think of her. But I enjoy her character. Not sure what people expected from a bunch of. As agents of the Sith, of course they are going to be angry. Though admittedly I was a bit taken back by someone who was killed early on. Didn't make much sense given said person is suppose to be more powerful.

Overall while its nice to see Obi, the series is neither bad or good. Just some "filler" for SW overall.

Also, its important you have seen the animated series or at least played Fallen Order to know some of the people in this series. While not essential, it may make things more clear for you.

Ms. Marvel (2022)
5/10
For teen girls, skip if your not.
15 June 2022
First off I am sad to see people being nasty about this series over the fact its a girl and she's muslim. Get a life people.

That said I am giving this series an honest review based on the SHOW itself. The actress does a great job for sure. And the effects that go on are really well done! But in the end this series is targeted for teen girls. Sort of how Hawkeye was. So if your not a teen girl, you probably will find the series boring, cringe and forgettable. Her powers are sort of also unforgettable. They are your typical powers you have seen with other superhero stuff.

Again, not saying this is a bad series. It's just nor your normal Marvel series that is made for everyone. I will say though, if you are deep into the MCU lore, you SHOULD watch the series because the importance of Ms Marvel is going to play a BIG role later in the MCU. I won't spoil how of course. You may need to know her story for the future.

Myself? I gave up on it near the end of the first episode.

Morbius (2022)
6/10
Movie was not good or bad. Just felt like it existed and no real other feelings.
18 May 2022
First off I love my comics. But I never got into Morbius stuff. Felt to cliché for a character. I skipped the movie at the theaters because people said it was bad. As always it was comic lovers of him saying it was bad because it wasn't like the comics. Which shouldn't matter in a movie.

So I finally seen the movie and I have to say, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Leto did a great job in his role. However the movie didn't really give me any emotions while watching. Even after the end I was like "Hmm" and that was it.

It felt out of for a Marvel movie. The story wasn't all that appealing. As with the same reason I didn't care about the comic, vampire stuff is just always the same. The pacing also felt really off too. The only things that I even cared about were the credit scenes. If Morbius never appeared again I probably wouldn't even remember he existed in a movie.

While vampires are kind of repetitive, I still am looking forward to Blade. Who is WAY more interesting then Morbious seems to be. I am curious how the two may fit together in the MCU given they both have the same vampire theme going.

Again, Leto's acting was great. But the movie just felt lifeless to me. Instead of paying to rent it, maybe just borrow it from your local library instead. I have no interest in watching it again nor do I want to see any bonus features usually on a disc.

Madness and chaos in a very short period..... confusing?
11 May 2022
This is a odd movie to review. From a effects and action stand point, its mind blowing. You feel the madness, the chaos, the multiverse come to life.

There is ALOT of things you didn't see in the trailer. So much stuff that you are sort of bombarded with it non-stop. Alot of people like Strange have crazy amounts of powers now which may or may not confuse you or wonder "Why didn't they do this before?".

Then you have new girl whos power is kind of really boring frankly. I mean I enjoy the idea of what she can do and indeed does in the movie, but if her story was a lone movie, I'd probably skipped it. And as much as they try to make her somewhat of the main focus, you don't care all that much about her or her powers.

The funnest aspect of this movie is seeing Scarlet Witch and Dr Strange showing off some new stuff. I can't go into detail as this is a non-spoiler review. But I will say I was super impressed with all the new stuff we see. Especially a call back to the "What If" series but not animated.

Now, why is the movie only a 7? For as wonderful as this movie is, it feels rushed given it barley runs under two hours. This should have also been extended in length so it felt less rushed, chaotic and confusing. This is not to say you don't know whats going on per say, but everything moves so fast you don't really get time to rest and think about what just happened.

I know some were disappointed with a big scene that we seen in a trailer and where it lead. But I wasn't. It was nice seeing this scene and knowing how much more it opens up the future of the MCU. The ending was also something I was ok with. With the MCU you never know what to expect in the future.

I will say this movie is much darker then any other MCU movie. It really felt like a MCU meets horror mix. Which was amazing in many ways. But I don't think little kids could handle this as it would likely be very scary for them. And, again without spoiler, this is the second time you get a gruesome scene in the MCU (all be it not fully shown), it might be to much for kids.

Obviously given movie wise the last movie before this was SpiderMan, I am comparing them to each other in terms of which I liked more. Spider Man blew my mind. But then again so did this. I'd say they are tied in terms of how great they are. Again though, this movie should have been closer to Spider Mans runtime.

If you still are undecided, I highly recommend seeing this in the theaters. The effects and sound design just won't be as good on a tv.
