The Batman (2022)
9/10
Absorbing noir thriller with a brooding Batman at its heart
25 March 2023
If you want your Batman dark, brooding and bent on vengeance then this is the Batman for you. This is how we want to see the dark knight portrayed on the big screen. A superb R-Patz was born for this role. Disregard any doubters with concerns about being too dark (whether thematically or visually) - the mood of The Batman fits perfectly with the concept of a noir detective thriller complete with the femme fatale ( a stunning Zoe Kravitz) and unrecognisable Colin Farrell as Penguin. This is a grown up, thoughtful version which lays foundation for further exploration of character and I hope we get to see much more from this darker incarnation of the bat.

I laughed like an absolute hoss
29 October 2021
This film is unbelievably stupid, crass, vulgar and contains surpringly misjudged recurring jokes which feel like they're from 20 years ago... But...I haven't laughed so hard in ages. The laugh out loud gags and set pieces come thick and fast. Utter side splitting rubbish.

Ignore the daft trailer and enjoy the quality
19 June 2021
I was expecting a throwaway wacky zany comedy, but was sideswiped by across the board solid performances from a terrific ensemble cast. I mean, take a look at the pedigree of the actors involved and that shouldn't be a surprise really. Despite it not being the laugh a minute movie the trailer leads you to think it is there are still 5,6,7,8 lol moments. Highly recommended.

A slice of top quality filmmaking
7 March 2021
Having no prior knowledge of this story I was not initially drawn to watching it when it first appeared on Netflix, but am so glad I decided to get stuck in. Of course it was great, just look at the pedigree of the cast. Top drawer writing and performances with a compelling and timely story. Terrific.

Worst film ever. I loved it.

A perfect meeting of Die Hard and extreme (and I mean extreme) stoner comedy. Wears its stupidity proudly on its sleeve. Not having even heard of Workaholics didn't seem to have affeced my enjoyment of this dumb as nuts, laugh out loud, gross out comedy. I hope there's more to come.

Seriously underwhelming
23 March 2019
I was so excited to get stuck in to this after hearing such great reviews and having been bowled over by McQueen's previous work, but oh man was I bored. I can only liken the experience of watching this film to listening to a boring drunk with a grain of an interesting story endlessly drone on interminably before running out of puff. I'm sad to say the negative reviews here are the ones to listen to.
