Ghosts of War (2020)
Acting and production values for good interesting idea but slightly jumped the shark at the end
Possible tiny spoiler Good acting well above the average on all for the movie.
Appreciate what I was trying to do.
But tired of that ending, wish it would show an ending were the really bad guys experience horror.
The Chef Show (2019)
Loved Chef & Roy & John
As a super serious amateur cook, I was so excited about this show.
Overall great concept but my thoughts (as a not kidding around foodie who loves you guys and loves to cook) are:
Please stop the voiceovers! Very annoying/distracting
Better recipe list/list of ingredients to take a screenshot of for the many viewers who'd like to give making each dish a try
Don't pack so many recipes in one episode. 2 is plenty and delve in
Celebs guests are fine but not needed. John & Roy are enough.
Too bad as I'd love to watch another episode but the above especially the voiceover:( was too off putting.
Us (2019)
I got taken by the Critics
Love Key & Peele's show, Keanu & Get Out But What was this? It's like he took a bad acid trip that wasn't fun for the audience. I laughed because parts were so silly.
Felt way too long for almost no payoff other than one very underwhelming M Night Shalya like surprise.
For shame as most of these 7 star reviews ever say how disappointing it is and confusing. Be honest that's not a 7 star experience.
Daylight's End (2016)
Super Solid If you like this genre and don't mind a non big budget movie it's solid
Nicely done. Well acted and solidly written. If you enjoy zombie post apocalyptic type movies, it's a good one if you've seen most of the rest. Not big budget but still very good. Glad I tried it!
Overlord (2018)
Way better than you'd ever expect & not what you'd think from the trailer
Wow color me impressed:) I went in with low expectations but from the adrenaline filled, edge of your seat opening I was hooked.
I thought it would be schlock horror. What I got was a well acted, well scripted action/drama/horror film that actually had me caring about the characters.
Very unique and I agree with other reviewers that it should be a cult classic. I hope more people go to see it in theaters as it deserves a much wider audience.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Good balance of action and story
If you don't go on expecting the best of the books you should be very pleased. Great acting and good plot. I'd definitely watch if they did another round of Jack Ryan
The Beyond (2017)
Well done but cerebral
Super intriguing movie. Well done. Don't let the haters dissuade you but don't watch when you're having a few drinks. Slow but we'll written & acted found footage type movie. Reminded me of Contact on a low budget.
Man of Steel (2013)
One of the best SuperHero movies ever Perfect Balance of Dar & Light
Now this is what super hero movies should be. Great villain, non cheesy love interest, characters you care about and no silly Gillmore Girls-esque banter.
This movie made me care what happened, as did Batman vs Superman & Justice League. Yes it's dark but I don't want to see movies that are all corny jokes, rainbows and unicorns.
If I wanted to see a Care Bear movie I'd watch 3/4's of the Marvel Movies (this doesn't include Dr Stange, both Deadpools or Guardians of the Galaxy/cheesy but still hilarious).
Zach Snyder is an unfairly maligned genius of directing/story telling. This along with Watchmen put him in Best Director category for any comic book/superhero movies ever made.
Black Panther (2018)
How does this have such a high IMDB rating?
Fine acting and pretty technicolor but this makes me doubt IMBD's rating system. The plot was so trite and had zero sense of jeapordy. Made it impossible to really care what happened. Such a shame as it obviously had a big budget.
If you're looking for a good super hero movie go watch Man of Steel, Justice League, Dr Strange or both Deadpool's. This one could have been great but definitely fell short for me.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Love Guardians, Dr Strange & Thor the rest are seriously lame
Some fun elements but the cheesy banter is so over the top. Ruins almost any pathos/empathy. The only genuine notes come from Guardians which is ironic since they are hilarious. Ok maybe Thanos is kind of interesting too.
And let's talk about Vision. Biggest wuss with super powers ever.
Worth seeing once but makes me miss DC which may be dark but I actually care what happens to a lot of those characters (ie Man of Steel and Justice League) or Deadpool in the Marvel universe.
Night Fare (2015)
Solid B Flick
Don't know what's up with the haters. Nice twist and well done. My only gripe is some of it was in french and I didn't have subtitles on but that was my bad.
Worth your time for an intriguing story & well acted for not being a high budget movie
