King Kong (1933)
Spectacular and Inspirational
King Kong is an amazing movie. It really is a masterpiece. What those guys where able to do back in 1933 is pretty remarkable to make such a film. King Kong shall always be remembered as an inspirational movie. I'm not sure how accurate this statement is, but I think King Kong has inspired just about every single director there is. Peter Jack was one who was inspired by Willis O'Brien's work. So was Ray Harryhousen, the world's most famous special effects god, even he was amazed and inspired by O'Brien's work.
The King Kong story itself is a wonderful, beauty-and-the-beast type situation, similar to The Huntchback of Notre Dame. King Kong is always first imagines as a frightening, enormous, beast, but he really is just a misunderstood being that has never experienced love until Anne Darrow comes to his island.
I'm amazed at hoe most film professors with shove "Citizen Kane is the best movie in the world" down our throats. Why can't King Kong be the best movie in the world?
