Soulmates (II) (2020)

Great concept, but...
15 February 2021
I was fascinated by the concept; I thought it was a brilliant idea for a TV show, but it was very poorly executed. Half of the episodes were a joke (episodes 1, 2 and 4). Terrible writing and acting, uninteresting stories and characters, and I just didn't care about the characters in these episodes or what was going to happen to them. Episodes 3, 5 and 6 were better; the acting was better (but still not great), and the storylines were more interesting. They were good enough that I cared about the characters and I wanted to see what was going to happen to them and how the episode was going to unfold, but there was still a lot of room for improvement. I think it would have been better if the episodes had followed on from each other so we got to meet all of the characters in the first episode, and then there would have been time to develop the characters and their stories because it all felt very rushed where there was only one 45-minute episode for each plot and set of characters. The idea of everyone having a soulmate, and that you can take a test to find out who your soulmate is, is a very complex one and should make for many highly emotionally-charged scenes between characters, so they shouldn't be rushed or the whole story crammed into one episode.

Frozen II (2019)

Into The Unknown...
29 November 2019
Is Frozen II a great film? Yes. Is it as good as or better than Frozen I? Nope. The only thing that I would say Frozen II is on a par with, with Frozen I, is visually. It is visually stunning. It might even be more visually stunning in places than Frozen I. But Frozen I has a better storyline and better comical moments; as a whole the film is just better, and it flows better. Frozen II has some great moments and some great comedy, but at times it feels rushed and it doesn't flow as well. Maybe I just need to see it again and it needs to grow on me, and there's such high expectations because the first film was literally, like, one of the best films ever! That's hard to follow and live up to, let alone exceed! But Frozen II is still absolutely a must-see film.

Lovely little film

This is a cute, funny, honest, heart-warming, relatable film, an enjoyable 1 hour and 20 minutes. The way mental health is dealt with in this film is refreshing and realistic.

Great episode!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode had a great concept. I probably would've given it 10/10 if it had been a Mulder and Scully episode, with Scully in 'death's waiting room' and Mulder refusing to accept that she was gone. That would've been a cracking episode! But it was still very good with Reyes & Doggett, however they don't have the same magic as Mulder and Scully.

Not bad

Only watched this because Gillian Anderson is in it and she's awesome in it of course, she can do no wrong! Ben Kingsley was good too as the villain and all the young actors did a good job too, especially the boy who plays the youngest character, Connor. It's a good plot, but it's not exactly a work of genius; it's predictable, but fun. Switch your brain off, sit back & watch an easy, enjoyable, entertaining 90 minutes of robots and humans shooting at each other and blowing stuff up! Oh and i had to laugh at one of the comments on here saying the least believable thing in the whole film was Gillian Anderson's British accent, don't listen to them, they clearly have no idea what they're talking about and need to get their facts straight! She is both British and American, she doesn't put on either accent, they both come naturally to her. I'm British and i can tell you she speaks like a typical person from London!

Scully from the X-Files getting it on with Mick from EastEnders!!!
27 January 2019
I watched this because i recently watched Gillian Anderson in Sex Education on Netflix & i thought she was an amazing actress & i wanted to check out more of her work. I was surprised to find out that she was in a film with Danny Dyer, as i thought they sounded like an odd pairing & i thought I've got to see this! It was weird seeing Scully from The X-Files & Mick from EastEnders making out lol, but they actually had very good chemistry & put in great performances in this film. My only gripe is that i wish the film had been longer, it's unusually short & feels a bit rushed. I feel like there needed to have been more time to get to know the characters of Alice & Adam & to explore their relationship more. But it's an enjoyable watch & a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Sex Education (2019–2023)

Brilliant, funny & sexy
20 January 2019
This is probably the best thing I've seen on Netflix. I found it a bit confusing at first that it was set in what seems very much like an American high school, but in the middle of the English countryside! And the characters all wear very retro clothes, but have mobile phones, and some of the cars and the insides of the houses are like something out of the 70s, but some look modern, like Jean's house and Jackson's house. But it doesn't make it any less brilliant if you look past all of these teeny, tiny details! I love the British awkwardness, teenage sex is incredibly awkward, but the fact it's set in Britain makes it 10x more awkward and it's hilarious! It's a brilliant cast, great acting, Asa Butterfield really shines and so does the actress who plays Maeve, love her character, but my favourite has to be Jean. Gillian Anderson is superb in this, she oozes sex appeal and she's just 😍. I've just finished watching it and I'm going to watch it again, which i rarely do with TV shows.

Absolutely hilarious from start to finish!
1 January 2019
When i first started watching this I thought I can't sit through two hours of these incredibily annoying teenagers, but then they changed into other characters when they got sucked into the game. I loved how they were all polar opposites of themselves in real life - the nerdy girl became a hot, high-kicking warrior, the nerdy guy became The Rock, the massive football player became the weedy side-kick and, in my opinion, the funniest of them all, the self-obsessed beauty queen became Jack Black! My jaw hurt from laughing so much at Jack Black playing a selfie-obsessed teenage girl! The adult actors were believeable in their portrayals of both their teenage characters and their characters in the Jumanji game. I'm always sceptical of these remakes of classic films but this one did not disappoint, thank you for not ruining the original!

I really enjoyed this movie

It's like the girls from Mean Girls grew up and had kids and they're still going around judging each other! With lots of laugh out loud moments just like in Mean Girls.

Surprisingly good!
15 May 2018
This film was much better than I thought it would be, it's really good for a TV movie. The actors who play Meghan & Catherine look scarily like the real thing, all the actors do a good job at portraying their part. The acting is decent and it's a wonderful story. I love a good, mushy love story!

The Royals (2015–2018)

Footballer's Wives!
5 April 2015
This show reminds me of a show that was on a few years ago called Footballer's Wives because there's lots of bitchiness, the characters are very rich, there's a lot of glitz and glamour, it's very sexy and debauched and there's lots of getting drunk, taking drugs and scheming. It's funny at times and I just cannot take it seriously! It's very very British, obviously, being about a 'pretend' British monarchy. It's ridiculous and as I was watching I was thinking none of this would ever happen. It's complete and utter trash but I just couldn't stop watching! So basically pretty much exactly how I felt about Footballer's Wives at the time it was out, but it was dangerously addictive and so is The Royals! You just have to keep watching to find out what crazy stuff is going to happen next! It's ultimate guilty pleasure viewing, I don't think you're supposed to take it seriously because the show itself doesn't take itself seriously either! Well that's what Footballer's Wives was like anyway and The Royals seems to be similar too in that way. The acting is pretty dire especially Elizabeth Hurley, awful!

Really funny film, loads of my favourite actors
31 March 2015
I love this film, don't get what all the bad reviews are about or even the average ones. Loads of funny moments, but also some emotional ones. Similar to lots of my other favourite romantic comedies, Love Actually, Knocked Up and Marley & Me spring to mind. This film has a lot of heart, it's exactly my sort of movie, so maybe that's why I like it so much. It had an affect on me, maybe because I'm a soppy, emotional woman! It made me laugh out loud at times & made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up at others. It has a stellar cast and many great and funny moments from all the top billed cast. I wanted to give this film the credit it deserves amongst all the bad reviews.

Decent film, ended up being basically like an unconventional romantic comedy, but then that's right up my street! (Contains spoilers!!!)
16 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I think people are being way too harsh giving this film such a low rating & saying it's terrible! It's not a fantastic film, it didn't blow me away, but it's by no means terrible either. I thought that for the most part it was a nice little romantic comedy, albeit with an unconventional twist! (When Christian's restraining Ana and spanking her!) The acting is good, at times it made me laugh, at times it was emotional & dramatic (which I thought the actors played very well), there was good chemistry between the characters including sexual and there were of course some very sexy scenes too! So basically like your stereotypical 15 rated romantic comedy but the BDSM pushed it up to an 18.

I thought the film was similar in some ways to the first Twilight film & I know the author was inspired by Twilight to write Fifty Shades. For example, Christian not being able to stay away from Ana even though he thinks he should, but at the same time caring very much for her & wanting to protect her, very similar to Edward and Bella at the start of their relationship! I was a bit disappointed that a lot of the book was cut out & I think they changed some little bits too, I can't remember, I did read the books about 2-3 years ago now! But obviously it's necessary to cut bits out in order to make a 2 hour film and the film is still the same storyline as the book just condensed down to the important bits.

Some people will moan that there's not enough sex in it and some people will say there's too much. You can't meet everyone's tastes and if you want more sex then watch a porno because this film is not a porno! There is an actual storyline behind it, the character's backgrounds & a love story which I am more interested in & the sex is just a part of that. I will definitely buy it on DVD when it comes out. It will no doubt become a bit of a guilty pleasure for me! It's one of those films I'll end up watching time and time again when I want to and have got the time to snuggle up under the covers in my PJ's with a box of chocolates and watch a film with a great love story and a bit of man candy in it!
