12 O'Clock High (1964)
A great show about the Greatest Generation!
I grew up as a kid surrounded by other kids whose dads fought in WW2 and Korea. One of my buddies' dad served on the USS Bon Homme Richard with Scheky Green; Battle of Chosin Reservoir - two of my neighbors were with the Marines; the neighbor behind my house today was a sailor at the Surrender of the Japanese on the USS Missouri, my uncle on the USS Strong (DD-758) in the Korean War. In the FD, two of my higher ranking officers served in tanks in Africa, another person I worked with when a teenager in a supermarket was the grocery manager who landed at Anzio.
Growing up, we did not hear them speak of their time in the service. As kids rummaging around we would find their uniforms and other mementos tucked in various closest, attics and such. Other times an occasional comment to one of their generation would say something we would hear but not get the full idea but we understood the inferences.
It was not until much, much later we leaned more of what they did.
They were all strict but loved their family and country.
The TV show did capture the spirt of the real vets of the Air war.
What killed a great show was timing. As Viet Nam went on the hippies and liberals took the media over and the show did not continue.
It is great to rewatch all the episodes on YouTube.
If I find a service where I can buy and download the entire series, I would!
Jack Ryan (2018)
Sequel hell
While initially interesting, the plot line drags on forever. Just one crises after another will no clear resolution in sight. No one wiling to wrap it up and come with new ideas. Rather dull.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Just OK
A bit drawn out. Excessive reliance on stunts and such. Not a blockbuster in any sense.
How It Ends (2018)
Horrible
Watch paint dry instead.
The has to be the worst movie ever.
~ it should not have ever begun
Oorlogsgeheimen (2014)
Stunning, compelling , sad and a must watch
I am blown away. I won't give away the plot or outcome.
For folks familiar with that time, they will understand.
While fiction i can just imagine this is a reflection of the truth that happened to millions caught up in the maelstrom of those days inflicted on the world by Hitler and his willing evil henchmen.
I am glad i found this film.
So very well done.
Innocence meets reality of children coming of age.
Not your typical war film, this takes the story of the impact of the war to a very personal level.
Highly recommended video!
