The Simpsons: Step Brother from the Same Planet (2022)
Abe never changes
Abe Simpson is a selfish man. Thats honestly never changed about him over the course of the show even in the few times he's shown his generosity or even his finer moments. But this time around its a double done there kind of episode the "Grampa gets a new girlfriend" and "Abe being a bad father" kind of episode, Which there has been more then you would expect, but less you would hope.
But atleast this time its a relationship that seems to be working and the new characters introduced in the episode served a good role in bringing up Homer's relationship with his dad through his new step brother Calvin. Who I honestly am not expecting to be make a lot of appearances after this episode. But he was atleast a good character and his back and forth with Homer was entertaining enough to get over the fact Homer was getting into a spat with a literal child.
There was also another pointless B plot about LIsa being seen as a narc by other kids in her school and lame, which by this point you would expect to get used to but it was big deal for the episode and she had a short stint of going to Radical with it and Bart of all people to reign her in. Which the few bits we got with it was funny enough, but this is another late season episode that you'll likely forget about. Simply been there and done that.
The Simpsons: From Beer to Paternity (2022)
Parenting is hard, Oh Yeah!
Ive always had a soft spot for Duffman as a background character so its nice to see him getting an episode. The concept of him losing relevance in the current year. Having him reconnect with his daughter and comparison to Homer and Lisa's relationship is cute, though its a plot thats been done before in the show and better. Along with Duffman's own story getting a bit rushed near the end since we barely see his own daughter until the third act.
Simpsons has had a few episode about father reconnecting or relating to their kids. Typically with Homer or Lisa being involved and compared to past episodes it doesn't really hold a candle but is atleast entertaining enough with the Duffman.
The Simpsons: The King of Nice (2022)
The Daytime Marge show
Marge centric episode have a tendency to be hit and miss. Considering how much she either enjoys being a stay at home mom or gets too invested in the thing she's doing this week. As far as Marge episodes go, this is meh at best, just a big ongoing joke about daytime shows like Ellen and Oprah but Marge gets too invested in her job and her family tries to pull her out of it.
Its an inoffensive episode. Its not unfunny, I enjoyed a good number of the bits and Krusty trying to adapt to doing a talk show. But it never goes far enough or does anything with either premise of the episode. And in this case I wish they had gone farther or did something with it then a lukewarm delivery.
The Simpsons: Habeas Tortoise (2022)
Homer just wants some friends.
A lot of homer episodes revolve around him being selfish or wanting something at the expense of others, but in this case I enjoyed the episode because it was a rare showing of Homer just wanting to find folks he can relate to. Even if it is a bunch of conspiracy nuts who have tendency to go a tad too far.
Much of the conspiracy jokes were well done and the group of characters to find a lost turtle was a decent plot for the episode even after the later half reveal. Its nice to see homer just doing something for others and not just being a jerk for the sake of some lame goal or topical bit for the episode. They didn't even include a pointless B plot for the episode and had it focused on the main story the whole, something I hope they keep doing in the future episodes.
The Simpsons: Lisa the Boy Scout (2022)
A good clip show
You would think with a whole episode being nothing but bits and clips at the expense of making fun of the ideas the simpsons could have written as episodes would be lame. But ironically its one of the funniest episodes ive seen in a while. Almost all the bits were funny and even some I kinda wish were actual episodes, espiecally the thing with Martin being an undercover cop.
I dont know if this is ironic or poetic that a compilation of the segments are actually funnier then the past couple episodes this season but its likely the self-deprication of the show making fun of itself for going on for so long. Almost a reminder of the past clip show episodes that made fun of the simpsons going on for years. But in this its a clever jab at itself.
The Simpsons: One Angry Lisa (2022)
Lisa does a thing and More marriage jokes
Dont fool by the title fo the episode, as deligated to a B plot that used for lame jokes and a plot that goes nowhere. While the main plot is another overused story of Marge and Homer having marital issues but this time Marge becomes addicted to her online exercise bike and homer becomes jealous of how close she is to her instructor.
The shows done this plot more then a few times, which is something the writers forgot about considering the show is on its 34 seasons. As a result both the A and B plot are duds. Both having barely tolerable jokes and making even the coherency of the plot seem senseless as if the people making the episode didn't know how to end either of the stories and was just going off the premise.
Its a forgettable episode, the kind that honestly really cements the fact this show has long since lost its touch.
