The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Creative Horror Story
I liked this because it was a very creative take on the classic horror movie and adds a sci fi element to the typical fantasy horror backdrop. That being said, half of the main characters died in very similar ways. Had more of them made it into the "downstairs" of the cabin and died there it might be more compelling. But I understand that plotwise it needed to be done like that. I know the ending is controversial, but I didn't mind it. A lot of horror movies are too afraid of diving in and creating an apocalypse, but this one was not. Also a lot of monsters and unique ones at that.
The Amityville Horror (1979)
Good for the Times
A very old movie with very old special effects. Despite this it still manages to creep you out. A very slow burn so maybe that's not for everyone, but I found it ok.
Tales of Halloween (2015)
Meh
I mean it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't good. No twists or turns or wondering who lives and who dies. Everything ends exactly how you'd think it would. The second story kinda has a twist, but barely. That one was the best story of them all and it was still kinda meh. I liked the concept of the individual horror stories and would watch something with a similar setup again, but it just lacked creativity.
