Dune (2021)

Great visuals and beautiful storytelling, but slow pace

Everything was just about perfect in this movie, but it did drag on in bits. The only bad part is that it left off mid story with no second movie secured. It's like binging a season of a show and wondering if there will be a next season. PLEASE let there be a second and third movie!

I spent the whole time still waiting for it to be funny

It should be law that sequels can only be made by the writers and directors of the original. A sure sign that a sequel is going to be bad is that none of the original main actors want to be in it. (see also Caddy Shack 2) The bit at the end with Justin Long was painful. He obviously didn't want to be there and he left his name off the credits because he was ashamed of the movie. Don't get me wrong, there are a few moments worth watching, like the bit with the busboy rapper. But for the most part it looks like it was written by someone who just didn't get what the first movie was all about.

Not a better love story than Twilight

She is a spoiled daughter of a plantation owner complete with slaves to cater to her every need, and a crush on her sister's husband. He is a rich good looking Playboy complete with drinking problem. Looks like the makings of a romantic comedy except for the humor, witty dialog, and happy ending. It ends with Rhett Butler getting tired of her BS and uttering the iconic phrase "Franky my dear, I don't give a damn" right before walking out the door and never looking back. There, I just saved you 4 hours of your life you'll never get back.

I gave it extra stars for the extraordinary photography and use of color
