Nope (2022)
Too long, too boring.
It's just the movie Tremors In a different modern suit, but boring, unfunny, and not scary at all.
Effects and filmography are ranging from OK to good sometimes, but worthless without some interesting characters and dialogue/story.
The first half of the movie tries to create an eerie setting that just does not deliver. The second half somehow feels as if it's presented as a comedy horror but without the comedy. So it's just watching stuff happen while I just didn't really care.
It just felt a bit childish. A B-movie script disguised as an A movie, but it doesn't wear its mask well.
Watch it on a boring Sunday afternoon.
Scream (2022)
It's so meta it should be called a documentary.
The people aren't even acting. They're rehearsing and discussing a script together.
It wasn't bad, but the ending was rather disappointing.
If we claim everybody to be a killer, we'll completely throw the viewer off the path won't we?
It's like how many fingers am I holding up, it could be one but also two, or maybe three? Jk just one. Or four? Haha you'll never guess it's five.. OOPSIE I said it... Or did I ? Maybe it's none hahah you'll never guess...
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
Like a childish highschool play
Wow, aside from the okay gore screnes, this movie is so unbelievably bad. Awful acting. Extremely shallow characters. Unnatural interaction among them. And everything is so immensely chewed out, as if they tried to make everything super easy to understand for an audience with an iq under 75. Make them feel smart.
Black Box (2020)
Black mirror meets goosebumps.
Gonna keep this one short and spoilerfree.
The movie starts of good, with decent acting and atmosphere.
Further down it gets a bit plot holey and "childish". In the sence that it could have been an eerie indiana or goosebumps kind of movie. You know, the one where kids don't ask too many questions as to why or how.
But still, I enjoyed it. It gave me the creeps here and there. I just found the story a bit shallow.
If you're not too picky and like a mellow blend of creepy(not horror), drama(family love) and mystery, this movie is worth a watch.
6.5/10
Run Hide Fight (2020)
It's ok, pc drama for teenagers.
Meh. It started off ok, but the story and emotions are really thin. mediocre acting. I guess it can be an ok movie for teenagers who have not seen many moviers yet.
Greenland (2020)
Okay start went downhill quickly.
I set my expectations low and still this movie disappointed me. Dumb decision after dumb decision. And also extremely biased casting on the "good guys and the bad guys". Subliminal wokeness. Lets make sure every person of this race is a helping hand hero good guy, and for the select evil characters we must make sure they are that race. NO exceptions on this part except for the main hero who's solely cast to lure a big audience to this disaster of a disastermovie
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Fargo with zombies, but without humor. Just plain boring.
The movie gets 2/10 for camerawork, and effort, but the story and acting is just soooo boring. They tried to do the whole casual fargo comedy thing, but they forgot to add humor. As for the zombies, the make up is very old school, but in combination with the boring acting it's worthless. it doesnt get the old school feel, but more of a school play thing.
Don't waste your time on this one. It's a pity the great cast did. Gonna wait for Zombieland 2, and hope that one will be good.
Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
surprising and awkwardly funny
It's a slow burner, but I think it adds to the story and impact of the later parts of the episode.
The casting was perfect in my opinion, certain situations and scenes would have created a really different feel with different actors, and I think they captured the right characters to get the most out of it.
It's different from other black mirror episode's and I like that, the strength of black mirror is doing something different every time.
Captive State (2019)
Meh
It felt like I dropped into an episode halfway a mediocre series.. Stuffs happening, so intense, so meh..
Patient Zero (2018)
Was the writer a twelve year old?
The characters in this movie are so incredibly simple. Within five minutes you know everything there is to know about them.
Storywise you won't be surprised either. There is no logical build up, no in depth of characters, just bam! These are the main characters, this is the mission, they have different opinions and go high school play.
I understand they tried to do something new with the infected, and the way they use them to try to find patient zero.(still first 5 minutes, no spoilers). But the disney characters with their petty little arguments ruin every chance of this movie being taken seriously.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Sure went downhill
It started a bit generic(jurassic park wise), but the action scenes were somewhat new, and nice cinematics. It felt like a mix of The lost world and Jurassic world. But half way everything became just less and less probable. The entire movie hangs together on chance and accidental luck.
I mean there are great scenes, some dinosaurs look awesome, but it looks more like an action packed showcase, than an actual good movie. There is no real tension, because at the start of every scene you already know how it will end, it's really predictable.
And the Disney plot... man.. There is nothing new, it might even be worse than jurassic park 3...
If I was twelve, and this was one of my first big motion pictures i'd probably give it a big 8 or 9. And well.. That's what they made... A roller coaster for kids..
Open Water 3: Cage Dive (2017)
Dislikable characters in a cheap story ruin the fun.
I've seen a fair share of shark movies(about a dozen), and decided to give this one a chance despite the low ratings. Making a good shark movie isn't easy, and the same goes for found footage films. So with this in mind I did not expect too much of it and just hoped for some good shark footage and maybe some nice shark attack aftermath images.
Without spoiling what happens, there will be sharks! Yes! And they look real and credible. Any use of cgi looks pretty good, no obvious rubber or pixelated sharks. This is the best part of the film.
Sadly the rest of the movie is filled with a really bad plot carried out by 3 unlikable selfish characters. The acting isn't awful, but the story and dialogue are. And it doesn't compliment their dull characters.
Maybe the director should make a "sharks only cut". Because that's all worth seeing.
