The Ice Road (2021)
Maybe one day they will learn...
28 minutes in and i was done. Maybe one day these morons will live up to their "woke" moniker, and actually wake tf up and realize you don't make money by alienating your target audience. But i highly doubt it. I'm not on Twitter for a reason. I don't need to have twitter posts virtually read aloud in the movies i watch too...
Altered Carbon: Resleeved (2020)
Pretty Good When You Don't Decide to Hate it Before Watching
The reviews for this are obviously pretty biased. Basically every negative one comes from people that don't understand/like anime and just label everything as cliche.
Yes you geniuses, everyone guessed the ending when Taneseda asked Kovacs about the laugh.. It was obviously implied. Sorry that you need a surprise ending for something to be deemed good or not "cliche" as you so love to say. Which is a bit cliche....
The movie was entertaining and tbh was a lot better than season 2 of Altered Carbon. If you don't go into it hating Japanese, anime, and aren't looking for a sherlock holmes story (which apparently most were for some reason) then it's an easy entertaining watch. Just don't expect to know all that is going on if you haven't watched the series
Our Planet (2009)
Very Good But...
Well for one I never knew i could actually enjoy being called a piece of crap for 7-8 hours. Because that's pretty much what is going on here. But hey i guess humans suck right? Aside from that it was full of nice little obscure tales of different creatures habits and way of living that are hard to not tell others about. It looked amazing. Sounded amazing. My only real problem was there were too many escapes. Only the fishies were really showed getting caught and eaten by predators. And it seemed to be anchovies or sardines the whole time. Can't remember which. It was one of the pizza fish. I get it though. Wanted the kids to watch so they wouldn't grow up to be trash cans like us.
Van Helsing (2016)
kdowney's Review is Spot On
There is a review on here that is absolutely the exact way i feel about this show. Can't figure out why i keep watching it. I guess it's the decent story. Only thing i have to add is that i don't know if it's the acting or the writing or probably both but, I find Vanessa to be the most unlikable, cringey, and annoying protagonist i've ever seen in any series lol. I hate her.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Very Surprised
I passed on starting this series many times. Even though it's right up my alley. But wow, it's very very good. Alexander Dreymon is fantastic in the lead role.
Granted i haven't finished the entire series, but i cannot find a reason to give this show anything under a 10 rating. Very pleasantly surprised. And happy to have a great show to watch again. It's been awhile
IO (2019)
Why?
Why make this movie? There is nothing worth telling here. One of the most boring movies I've ever seen. Unlikable main character. Stupid story. Stupid title. I just really don't understand the movie making process. I mean someone read this and said yeah this will make a great movie... I just truly can't believe that. Or I can't believe that person would have the power or resources to make said movie. So Netflix "originals" are quantity over quality i guess? My god this was flaming trash.
Dark (2017)
Not Confusing...
It's a really great show. Well written, well cast. So well cast that even with the multiple timelines, it's EASY to tell who is who most of the time in the different phases of their lives. Don't listen to the reviews that say it's confusing. I'm willing to guess those people just weren't paying attention all of the time. I know a lot of people that can't take their cellphones out of their face for more than 5 minutes. So if you were confused, you either aren't that bright or you need to put your phone down. Then you'll be capable of giving a competent review.
Annihilation (2018)
Better Than Most of the Movies I've Seen This Year
I realize that's not saying much. I'm not a purple haired girl with 4 face piercings and the newest i-phone. That i use to post pics of Marvel Pop Vinyls on Instagram, to claim how big of a comic book fan i am. So to me, a non super hero or star wars movie, I will always give a chance. I enjoyed the creepy vibe in this one. I'm not a scientist. And I'm willing to bet most of the "illogical" review people aren't either. So just stop acting like you know what is and what's not possible and critique something else. Pretty sure talking raccoons and 80 year old dudes with vibranium shields aren't logical either. But we don't all cry about them now do we :'(
Tomb Raider (2018)
Just Not Very Good
Saw so many reviews that said "finally the video game adaption curse is over" You need to raise your standards. I won't watch this movie again even if it's on late night cable and it's either this or infomercials.
I just didn't care about the characters whatsoever. I found "Lara" to be dimwitted in all honesty with extremely annoying screams and "action sounds". It was boring. I need to stop falling for the it's a remake so it will better ploy. And PLEASE stop comparing this to Indiana Jones. It's not even close to National Treasure. Really idiotic comparison. Indiana was actually a likable character...
Lost in Space (2018)
Unlikable Characters
Only 5 episodes. It keeps my attention. But most characters are extremely unlikable in my opinion. Especially Judy. I spend most of the time thinking about how much i hate Judy while i watch this series.
Equilibrium (2002)
I Really Love This Movie. Should I Feel Bad?
First off if you need someone to die in your movie, cast Sean Bean. Seriously can he ever stay alive?
Okay Sean's woes aside... I liken this movie to The 13th Warrior with Antonio Banderas (sp?) We all know both are not really "great" movies. Plot holes, acting isn't great at times, somewhat silly stories. But there is just something about them. They are entertaining as can be. I've watched both many many times. I'll even add Sucker Punch into this category. With all of these movies, there's no awards to be won. You almost feel guilty for loving them. But yet somehow they end up to be much more entertaining than some of the critically acclaimed movies out there.
Sometimes you just need something fun to watch. Something that will make you think, but not too hard. That's what this movie is. It's just enjoyable. At least for me.
I remember when i first learned about this movie. We were having poker night and a friend of mine was pretty intoxicated and for some reason he was trying to remember the name of this movie. Anyway he kept saying "you know, the movie with the feeling police! you know, the one where you aren't allowed to feel!" I remember thinking.. That sounds f%$&ing stupid. Then i read the synopsis and i thought.. This sounds pretty damn stupid. Then i watched the movie and i realized.. Huh this is kinda stupid but i still really like it.
Into the Forest (2015)
Like Everyone Else Says... Boring
Good rating on Rotten Tomatoes, premise sounded promising, trailer nearly scared me away (wish it had). This was just literally one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. I don't understand why it's even a movie. Who read this story and was like "oh yeah I need to see that on the big screen." ???
I saw sci-fi in the description... why because their cell phones and computer monitors were transparent?? Because the grid went down? How far into the future was it? I couldn't tell by their 93' Jeep Cherokee.
A pointless story, very unlikable characters, and just plain boring as can be. I like trees so I gave it a 2 instead of a 1...
Deadpool (2016)
Worthy Of It's Rating
If you are easily offended than you are probably one of the people that have said this is the worst Marvel movie ever. If you don't actually know anything about Deadpool or even Marvel in general, then you are probably one of the people that gave this movie a one star rating. If your sense of humor is lacking then you won't enjoy this movie.
I see so many people talking about how Deadpool acted like a 13 year old throughout the entire movie. But what is funny to me is the fact that in today's society, 13 year olds are the quickest to be offended by everything. And every negative review brought up the use of the "f word" in this movie. Seriously people, do you not know what an R rating is? Have you not ever seen a Tarantino movie?
In my opinion, if you didn't like this movie, then you know nothing about Deadpool or you decided to hate it before watching it because it was too popular. It's a great movie. Can't think of one flaw.
Bottom line is it's just a hilarious and action packed movie and Ryan Reynolds is great. There are so many "Marvel" fans out there now. Most of which have never picked up a comic book. Not everything out there Marvel related is Captain America and Iron Man. And in case you missed it Deadpool is not a hero. Do more research on what you're about to be watching because if you're a cringer, you should just stick to the cookie-cutter comic book characters. Go get offended by something that's actually offensive...
Fury (2014)
Calm Down...
Reading these reviews were hilarious. Apparently hardcore WWII re- enactment enthusiasts were excited to see a modern depiction of Sherman suckines, and they got upset that it wasn't a documentary i guess.
The first review i read was great. The guy thought it was ridiculous that the Nazi's stopped shooting while they were having "moments in the tank". Well they probably were trying to not give away their position as they were attempting to get into a better position.
Then people mentioning WWII movie clichés... Maybe that's because it's what happened during WWII??? I don't know just guessing there.
If you want to watch an entertaining movie with a well put together cast then give it a try. Because that's exactly what it is. I wouldn't say it was a "Movie made just so Brad Pitt could make some money" as one reviewer put it. I'm sure Brad Pitt was not hurting for money. I really don't think all these actors and crew got together for a charity film for Brad Pitt.
Really not sure why everyone is so upset that the Nazi's weren't depicted as being smarter. You guys know they lost right? Even with superior tanks.... Which was definitely portrayed rightfully in this movie. So many tank experts on here hahaha. Step away from your keyboards and go back to painting your 1:16 scale Tiger tank models...
