Captain Fall (2023)
10/10
Very well thought out satire that's very under appreciated.
5 August 2023
I get that people were expecting a more Simpsons and Family Guy type comedy adult animation, but this show isn't that kind of comedy, which is good. Though the humor is there, Captain Fall relies more on storytelling, situational humor, and character analysis than other shows.

Jonathan Fall unwittingly operating a smuggling ship masquerading as a cruise line while slowly growing confidence while realizing something isn't right. The cutthroat smugglers who are his crew becoming introspective in their actions while feeling sorry for their captain. Those dynamics and narrations make the show good.

Negative Reviews for Zero Reasons.
30 July 2022
While this show isn't for everyone, it doesn't deserve o much hate, especially with the last few episodes as its saving grace. The show isn't meant to be some "sophisticated" overly-complex adult animation like Bojack Horseman, but a played-for-laughs that's meant to turn your brain off and enjoy, riddled with raunchy and disgusting humor akin to South Park but with the same formula as Brickelberry and Paradise PD with a dark He-Man/Flash Gordon twist. However, since the show makes fun of both left and right arguments, i.e. Abortion, illegal immigration, gun control, crime, censorship, media, etc., it seems there are more people with political agendas review bombing for the sake of it, and for pedantic reasons (just like with the new seasons of South Park and the Beavis and Butthead movie). The same applies to the people who don't like rude and crude humor as well, which obviously shows these reviewers have never seen their other works. So, for all the fans of shows like this one, I hope you enjoy it.

The Hyperions (2022)
9/10
A very decent family dramedy with a superhero twist.
11 March 2022
The movie takes place in an alternate 1960s-1970s where a family of superheroes exist and a brilliant scientist/entrepreneur creates the source of their powers known as "Titan badges." However, after a massive falling out with one of their members Vesta running away, the Hyperions try to move on. One day, former Hyperions Vista and her adopted brother Ansel are now robbing their family museum to steal the Titan badges from their display case, triggering a chain that drives the plot.

The movie is well-made with a story plot reminiscent of silver age comic books and acts as a somewhat lighter take on the Umbrella Academy. Jon McDonald casts talented actors and directed the film pretty well, though with some hiccups but no movie is perfect. While it is definitely a superhero movie, the film mostly focuses on the intricate themes of family, abandonment, pride, love, loss, and personal responsibility. All the while, as you question why Vista and Ansel are robbing the museum and think it's a petty stunt to get back into the limelight, you are revealed that there is a real villain pulling the strings and it's someone you least expect. However, despite some fight scenes here and there, the movie doesn't have a lot of actions. Nonetheless, it is a pretty decent family dramedy film with a superhero twist.

Also, while I get this isn't everyone's cup of tea, let me tell you that most of these negative reviews are from people who are either use to the Marvel/DC cinemas with a lot of gritty action and dark tones, or from liberal progressives who despise the Daily Wire (a conservative media outlet) and have an agenda to demonize the film just to deter people from watching it.

A complete Reboot but better than the last one
17 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I finished watching all 10 episodes in the first season, and it's pretty good. Sure, it has some issues but no show is perfect. Don't forget that it's a complete reboot that won't follow the same route as the 80s original.

Reinventing Adam as a lost prince with amnesia add more to his character with a hero's journey direction, Ram-man reintroduced as a teenage girl named Krass who is Adam's childhood friend with inner demons, Teela and Duncan are reintroduced as street rat kids and assistants to Evil-Lyn and Trapjaw before defecting to become heroes is a fresh change to their characters. However, some elements of the original still exist such as Skeleton being Prince Keldor, Adam's uncle and King Randor's brother, who doesn't start off as evil but more as an egocentric power-hungry royal before succumbing to the dark magic that made him into the monster he is now.

The shift from epic fantasy to cyberpunk may give the audience and fans time to adjust, but it provide new opportunities in world building and lore. However, while magic still plays a prominent role in the series, they also add new facets such as Eternal having regulations, tigers having suspicions around it, and magicians having some limits towards it to which add more fluidity than the simple "magic is everywhere; magic is simple" cliche you usually see. The ending leaving in a cliffhanger after Skeletor's victory actually provides some realism, giving that "good doesn't always triumph over evil" feel but leaves more for the next season to work with. All in all, it is a descent reboot with a lot of potential, giving it reasonable direction and storyline with flaws that could change overtime.

Also, ignore most of the negative review. While I get that they are fans of the original who weren't happy the new He-Man isn't like theirs or the 2002 (understandable), the other negative reviewers are just butthurt that "Revelations" was abandoned by Netflix and that this show is actually better than that Kevin Smith dumpster fire.

Everything wrong with the Animation Industry
6 August 2019
I watched the series (or half of it) and could barely keep watching. The show had so much potential but the writers completely threw it under the bus. The way the trailer and premise were building up, I assumed that She-Ra was a show about a young soldier who believed that she was fighting for the right side before switching sides to the resistance once acknowledging the atrocities the Horde has committed. After discovering the magic sword, she would become the hero necessary in defeating the Horde as her allies formed alliances, taking down Horde strongholds on the planet, and liberating interment camps and occupied regions while building up an army against Hordak. Along the way, She-Ra's attributes and actions would spread throughout the world of Etheria and she would earn her position as a hero through hard work and determination. Unfortunately, none of that actually happened and instead went into the direction of a cliche teen drama.

The series is mediocre and boring, both in design and in script. The art style is okay, albeit lacking in consistency and shading, and hated that She-Ra looks completely mannish. Don't get the wrong idea. Since this is a family-friendly cartoon, it makes sense to not sexualize her, but the creators blatantly removed her basic female anatomy for the sake of political correctness, despite confirm that she is sixteen. then there is the forced diversity for the sake of it, shoehorning it into the show and most of the characters tokens with barely any growth or drive, and acting just as the story tells them.

The writers and creators seem to push aside character development for the sake of superficiality such as one scene where Frosta who was a complete snob and a one-dimensional character has an unnecessary 180 in the next season, acting more hyper and childish but it never gave an explanation on how her personality changed. Then, in the same episode, Glimmer chastises Frosta for acting reckless and obnoxious. However, in the next episode, she does the same thing in the next episode with Bow calling her out, making the previous episode completely redundant. There's even a lot of telling, not showing, where it goes on and on about how "dangerous" and "evil" the Horde and Hordak are but never truly displaying it. Everytime the horde shows up, it was the typical "villains pop out of nowhere and the hero easily defeats them" cliche such as in the first season finale where the Horde led by Catra and Scorpia chase after the heroes on a platform vehicle without any scenes showing how they knew where the heroes were or what methods they used to track them. The only time the Horde were ever shown to be potentially a threat was in episode five when an army of soldier traveled to the Brightmoon kingdom with guns and tanks...only to be easily defeating by loincloth men holding palm leaves.

Its lackadaisacal dialogue and exposition barely holds a candle to other shows better than this one like Dragon Prince and Steven Universe. Many of the people working on the show has little to no experience in working in animation and are practically fringe writers who were mostly hired by Dreamworks because it was cheaper than hiring professionals. Also, when you watch the series, it's obvious Dreamworks is forsaking quality for quantity as a means to milk money off of it. What's even worse is that the writer's don't even admit that they screwed and just blame it on the critics for not liking their work, or making excuses like "It's not for you" as a rebuttal. They even block criticisms just to narcissistically stroke their egos from the praises they receive in their fandom, along with encouragng their fandom to harass and attack fans of the original series in a small-minded and pathetic manner. As the old saying goes: "

Sorry if this is long but I needed to vehement how the animation industry has stooped so low when it comes to making animtation. Besides, this show deserves criticism than praise as there seems to be more on the latter than the former, along with the reviews praising it not giving any details on why it is considered "good".

The Loud House (2014– )
10/10
Nickelodeon is getting its' groove bock!
27 May 2016
Finally, after eight years of crappy sitcoms and brain dead cartoons, Nick is finally regaining its' old spirit. not since Avatar has there ever been a show that can truly relate to families everywhere.

the synopsis of the show is about an 11-year-old boy named Lincoln Loud who is part of a family of 10 sisters, each one having diverse, unique personalities that bring out the different sides of Lincoln. There's the first born Lori who constantly texts to her boyfriend, Bobby, and because of being the oldest, believes that she can get whatever she wants amongst her siblings, but despite her condescending attitude, she does care for her brother and sisters. There is the second born Leni who is the stereotypical dumb blonde and, unlike most of the family members, is the nicest person you'll ever meet, but can be taken advantage at times due to her naivety. There's the third born Luna who likes to listen, and play, loud music, along with being skilled in guitar and expressing the punk rock lifestyle. Luan Loud, the fourth born, is an amateur comedian who enjoys playing pranks on her family members and telling terrible jokes, which she is oblivious of the constant groans of her annoyed siblings. Lynn Loud is the fifth oldest sister who is energetic and enjoys playing extreme sports while playing and/or fighting with her brother, Lincoln, much to his chagrin. 8-year-old Lucy Loud is the oddball of the family and a preteen emo/goth girl who enjoys reciting poems of the macabre and hosting seances, despite creeping most of her family members whenever she appears out of nowhere. the twins, Lola and Lana, are polar opposites--one is a spoiled, tattle telling pageant girl while the other is a mud-loving, dumpster diving tomboy--that tends to get into fights dues to their clashing personalities. Lisa is a 4-year-old child prodigy who had skipped several grades and even graduated college early with a ph.d. last but not least is Lilly the baby who enjoys running around naked throughout the house and defecating in her own diaper while exclaiming "poo poo." like any normal baby.

At times, they can get on Lincoln's nerves due to the chaos they bring and sometimes wishes for them to go away (like any kid with siblings), but, most of the time, he loves them and is thankful that he has sisters who love him and has his back.

This show has a well-built storyline, excellent character development, a decent setting with episodes made by brilliant writers, and a protagonist we can all relate to. Along with Harvey Beaks, this is the show that can help bring Nick out of the darkness and into the light and i'm enjoying it every time i watch it.

Cartoon nerdiness with a twist of anime Geekyness
29 December 2015
I have the first four episodes that have been posted; because I live in America, I have difficulty finding cartoons from foreign countries.

Anyway, this series is amazing; it has a unique blend of Western Animation and Japanese anime, almost like a reverse Kappa Mikey. While the storyline focuses on the everyday lives of John Stitt and Max Cameron and their struggle to survive high school, it does turn away and focus on the battles and adaptations of Hiro, Prince of Karuta, as he tries his best to understand and learn about life on Earth while, also, interacting, and having fun, with his host family and friends, especially with John and Max.

Like the movie, you can see the people of South Port deal with the bizarre and chaotic, yet dramatic and serious, situations when other entities from the Metaverse, like Hiro, show up and either cause trouble or prevent trouble, or both!

Despite a lot of differences from the movie, this series gives the creators and writers a chance to explore and show more of the "Exchange Student Zero" universe that the movie could ever do, featuring more characters, more situations, and more voice actors given the chance to star in such a marvelous project.
