The Flash (I) (2023)
9/10
Nostalgic masterpiece
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Flash as far as Flash goes was okay. But the nostalgia was where it really hit for me.

From the epic Michael Keaton to Easter eggs like Eric Stolz and Nick Cage, the memory of Reeve and Clooney, this movie was a wonderland for geeks and nerds who just needed a warm winter hug and this movie delivered.

The graphics on the other hand were a bit lacking especially during the time travel scenes, it was reminiscent of a terrible attempt of all the Neos fighting Smith in Matrix Reloaded-but that movie came out 20 years ago...

The graphics during the rest of the film were pretty good and the story itself was very DC-esque, changing the past to right the wrongs which always centre around someone's mother-has every hero in the DCverse lost their mother?

Overall, very enjoyable, very nostalgic and very fun!

Unreasonably obsessed.
15 May 2023
As Roger Ebert once stated: "I have such an unreasonable affection for this movie, indeed, that it is only by slapping myself alongside the head and drinking black coffee that I can restrain myself from recommending it."

My unreasonable love and obsession for this movie is unparalleled. I can't tell you what it is about it that completely draws me in aside from the sheer enjoyment it brings.

I love the characters and the actors who portray them, I love the ridiculous storyline and visuals, (hey I watched it when it first came out so it was good!) I love the soundtrack and the horror of the the core and molten lava.

Honestly, it's not an Oscar movie, so don't expect that, but enjoy it for the wild scenes, fun lines, disaster movie feel and Aaron and Hilary.

7 stars for the first half
17 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of the movie was seriously fantastic. Such a great start, creepy, mysterious, so much unknown and the tension was built perfectly.

Then it took a weird turn. I was confused about the weird jellyfish like alien, I was confused about what it's mission in life was. I was also confused about the other ranchers weird obsession with it. Like did he think he was just able to break it like a horse? Who knows. It was all a big strange.

The acting was great, the cast was stellar, the horses were beautiful and the highlight for me. Loved all the random bits and pieces from the past. But, what those the Gordo part about? That's what I didn't really understand.

Anyway, first half was great. I'd give the rest of the movie 5.

Did I watch something different to everyone else?
30 April 2022
I see reviews about this being a decent movie.... Have i been watching something different to everyone else?

The entire thing feels like seven movies all randomly edited together with totally nonsensical plot lines and timings. It's jarring, weird and quite frankly, crap.

The dubbed version obviously made the acting look and sound worse than it probably really was but wow, what an interesting hour and a half this has been.

Also, definitely NOT a Jackie Chan film. He's like a random, almost unnecessary secondary character.

Overall: Loads of unfinished threads, messy ending, messy editing, unanswered questions. 3.5/10.

And they say dance moms are crazy
5 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Science Moms needs to be a reality show.

This movie wow, where do I even start? From the interesting choice of actors and a Time Machine connected to an iPhone-there's everything a D-Rated movie fan wants.

Troubleshooting-if the Time Machine doesn't work with iOS, try old cables and software. That's the issue.

And weird meat suit mom's character was a total nut job in life and death, super confusing.

Some decent parts though, the vibe and filming style, not so bad, actors meh. And like who gets over their dead girlfriend so fast. Like meh, she's dead. Meat suit Mom killed her.

Not much else to say, wasn't really scary, plot wasn't well thought out but it's okay to watch if you're bored during the day.

Cracker movie!
18 February 2022
I'm ashamed to admit that being such a huge keanu reeves fan, I missed this movie until now - 2022!! Soo glad my husband educated me in this masterpiece.

From the get go your thrust into a corrupt, dark and violent underbelly of LAPD. While this genre isn't new, this movie delivers some fresh ideas in the way the mysteries of who is leading you in which direction becomes more complex as the film goes on.

Until the very end you're guessing.

Action packed. Excellent cast. Surprise storyline's. And Reeves delivered a ripper performance.

I don't know.
8 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This trilogy was so close to my heart for my own reasons and having literally dreamed of one day hearing that matrix 4 would come to us, I was stoked to finally watch it.

I don't know how to feel about it.

As much as it hurts my heart to say, it probably wasn't needed and I probably would have preferred to never have seen it. But since I have, what can I say?

Purists won't enjoy it mainly for the seemingly forced 'wokeness' of it. That's why the first movie was so good, it created this intense subculture of people who did question more. Now it's like the flavour of the week and this movie sums that up perfectly.

New viewers probably would specifically for that reason I mentioned above.

Either way, Keanu looked like he let go of Neo a long, long time ago. The character felt lifeless and painfully alien to me.

Trinity was brilliant with what she was given to work with. Together they brought back my first ship which in itself made this movie endearing to me.

Other than that, not much else too add.

They relied too heavily on flashbacks that it formed basically 30% of the movie which I find a cop out.

I feel dirty writing negative things about it but my heart just didn't flutter with the wide eyed awe I hoped I would once again relive.

Hope it brings you more happiness, ye whoever reads this.

Obsessed
6 November 2021
I can't even begin to describe how obsessed I am with this show. I'm eagerly anticipating season 2.

Some of the bullying scenes were OTT but hey, it's a KDrama. They live for melodrama and I'm here for it.

The humour, the action, the romance and drama are all perfect.

Highly recommend if you're looking for something fun and dramatic but also deep and emotional at times.

Not sure if it was meant to be bad...?
27 October 2021
If this was meant to be some weird and dark humour type film then I guess it did ok?

Otherwise, it was probably one of the worst movies I've seen in a while. Quite craptastic if I'm completely honest.

Definitely interesting! I'm hooked and awaiting the next season.

There were parts that were slow and strange and a little repetitive but overall entertaining and cool.

Have never FELT so much in any movie
22 August 2021
This movie absolutely shredded my heart. It was written so well and performed even better.

Highly recommend but be warned, it's definitely going to make you feel rubbish for days after you finish this.

Black Widow (2021)
6/10
Would have been good if we got to see it years ago
9 July 2021
Like someone else said on here, this felt like somewhat of an afterthought.

DC came out with Wonder Woman then years later Marvel decides crap, we need a solo female movie. Yay. So much potential, so much to work with. Make a Black Widow movie. But no, we get Captain Marvel which is another review altogether.

Then, thanks to Covid this movie gets delayed, then once more and finally another time which has unfortunately made this too little too late.

An afterthought for such a powerful, groundbreaking character in the comics and even the MCU eventually and it's such a shame.

The acting was good, the characters were awesome, CGI could have been better but it seemed so much like the MCU just had to do their due diligence and release this film.

I'm so disappointed having been a Romanov fan since I was a little girl, then as a teenager and a woman growing up with the films. Scarlet has been brilliant throughout and and Romanov deserved better.

Im a changed woman
7 July 2021
I went into this show without actually liking Loki at all. I've always found his character annoying, unlikeable and plain whiny (not just in the MCU but also throughout the comics). Hiddleston also wasn't high on my list as an actor but I have to say, after the first episode I was totally converted.

This show, from the characters, the cinematography, the costume department to the music is on another level! I think Marvel have outdone themselves.

I thought Falcon and The Winter Soldier was unreal, this is even better.

Highly recommend, even if you're not that into the MCU. Give it a go and enjoy the whacky, wonderful journey that this show takes you on.

Not bad entry-level entertainment
7 July 2021
Megan is a good enough host for this show but I don't think it's her lack of enthusiasm like some have said that make this a bit monotone.

It seems more like the show has tried to follow in the footsteps of shows like Expedition Unknown and Destination Truth, which is a difficult act to follow. This show, which is similar in the sense that they have a mix of science, history and fantasy to boot just seems a little flat in some aspects.

The guests and experts are fine, Megan is fine, but something feels lacking. Maybe it's character? Maybe charisma or passion? Not sure.

That's why it's hard to turn off but I also wouldn't go searching for it.

Rarely do I feel satisfied at every turn in a movie like this.

I have to say I was really pleased with all the little twists and turns, the acting was great as well and kudos to the little Eric! He did a fantastic job!

Ghost shows can usually be entertaining even if you don't believe in the stuff they're talking about. But this one is just boring and totally unbelievable.

Don't mind the good reviews. This isn't worth watching.
30 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It took two sittings to get through this.

The plot was messy, loop holes were abundant and the ending made no sense whatsoever. Now the book, I'm sure has much more going for it.

There was no point to anything. Rules like including tiny details when there's an actual point to them are totally tossed out the window.

What is the point of bringing up her bulimia the entire time? Just to show that he posions her with the protein shake?

What is the point of the Willis person? What is the point of her affair with Eddie ?

It's all nonsensical.

Stowaway (I) (2021)

Not awful. Not great either.
22 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I mean it's a relatively okay sci-fi movie. There's some plot holes and stupid mistakes that I feel like no one in that position would ever make.

These are meant to be some of the brightest minds. And how on Earth did a stowaway even happen. I can't even take my trail mix on the damn plane these days. And who even was that guy? Nothing makes sense. His story was totally unexplained and was only presented to the audience as the driving force of the plot.

And another thing, why wasn't the canister that would literally save your lives not be attached to you on your return to the ship! Why would the ONLY medical professional sacrifice herself. SMH!! And why didn't the movie have a conclusion. It just ended.

Could have been much better but seemed like writing story that made sense was an afterthought.

Fun, outrageous movie!
11 April 2021
Look there's no need to write a detailed review about storyline's and character development.

You know what you're in for as with all video game movies. Especially those with Milla. She's the queen of B grade action with excellent graphics.

Sit back, enjoy and set your expectations for a plot and storyline aside and you'll have a great time.

Clever and artfully presented
8 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very reminiscent of Ex Machina.

This movie was cleverly executed and very artfully presented. The visual appeal of it is as intriguing as is the story.

Theo James is a great, brooding actor perfect for the damaged George whom yearns for his deceased wife.

The premise is sometimes choppy but the twist at the end was welcomed.

Great afternoon movie to enjoy some stunning visuals.

Better but still not great
28 March 2021
So there we're definitely improvements in this version and improvements that were needed. This version answered a lot of questions and gave us a lot more backstory. So I'm glad I watched it, however, the first 3 chapters were completely unnecessary and just seemed like a creative flex to get some fancy closeup shots in.

Literally nothing in the first 3 chapters was necessary to understand the movie.

Chapter 4 onwards was amazing and I would have loved to see that movie instead of this 4 hour epic!

Cute and not too serious
20 January 2021
If you're looking for a professional cooking show, this isn't it. This is a fun, kind of juvenile exposé of food. The host is cute, passionate about food and you can tell she bakes and cooks form the soul. There's a sparkle in her eyes when she talks about her favourite recipes. I think that's definitely a bonus for this show. It's very organic.

One of the better Australian films
5 January 2021
As an Aussie, I find most Australian films pretty average. This one however, pleasantly surprised me. I first watched it years back when I was visiting family in Serbia. My cousin threw it on because she thought I'd enjoy watching someone from my home town. She wasn't wrong. I recently watched it again (2021) and I still enjoyed it immensely! I don't know much about diving but it seemed pretty decent to me! Good cast as well.

I wish I had better things to say
28 December 2020
I'm a sucker for anything visually pleasing set in space. This was underwhelming. It wasn't awful but it wasn't really that good either. I agree with others when they've said it was a missed opportunity. The cast was great, the budget was excellent and the visuals were nice. But the story literally went no where. I get the 'point' was about life and what we do next. But wow, it did not convey the message well enough at all. I had to complete this in two sittings. For one, it felt too long and it was also a little hard to watch. So in conclusion, I wouldn't say it was a waste of time but it could have been better.

Needlessly long
26 December 2020
From several uninteresting and quite unnecessarily long story lines to Ed Skrein's terrible American accent, this movie really wasn't that great. As far as war films go, it's tolerable but far from good. If you've got nothing better to watch on a lazy afternoon, this isn't the worst thing you'll find but don't expect too much. Such a shame considering how many good actors are in it and how decent the budget was.
