Too much Anne Hathaway cleavage for a 'family' movie.
30 October 2020
This is how you take a story and just destroy any heart it has.

Whilst the cast isn't awful, they aren't given much to work with.

A lot of people see the 1990 movie as a classic, and this 2020 version is definitely not a classic. It's full of over the top CGI, bad dialogue and too much Anne Hathaway cleavage for a 'family' movie.

Some of the spooks are still there but then the tension is ruined by everything else that is bad.

Let's not talk about that unnecessary voiceover.

This is 2020s CATS. But with mice instead.

One For The Eurovision Fans
26 June 2020
This is a weird one if you don't enjoy the Eurovision Song contest, however, if you do enjoy it, you'll like this movie. It's silly and funny, just like the actual contest.

It's not necessarily laugh out loud funny but it does have some funny moments which will make you smile.

The cinematography is beautiful, especially in the Iceland scenes.

Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams give great performances. Even if their accents do seem to vanish every now and then.

If you want to watch a silly fun movie with Will Ferrell, that isn't awful, check this out.

It takes a dying genre and shocks it back to life.

It takes a dying genre and shocks it back to life.

With a small cast, they had a tough job carrying the film but they pulled it off.

With tense, funny and shocking moments, it has everything that a Horror Thriller film should. Whilst you can tell what films inspired it, it does stand on it's own two feet.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Escape Room business starts booming now that film is released.

It's not a bad film, it's just nothing special.
2 February 2019
Whilst it gets across the nostalgic feeling, that Hollywood has been trying super hard to push the last few years, it doesn't have much else to offer, other than some amazing visuals.

It does have some very poignant moments but it also has some very bland ones too.

It does open the door to the world of Mary Poppins to younger viewers, however, it closes doors to bringing anything new to that world.

It's not a bad film, it's just nothing special.

Giving The Fans What They Wanted
2 February 2019
Putting you into some true transformers action as soon as the film starts, it begins on the right foot.

It gives some truly enjoyable and funny moments, whilst also having a heartfealt story behind it.

After all the previous insulments, this gives the transformers fans what they truly wanted.

The sheer nerve and stupidity, that Billy McFarland possess.
2 February 2019
This is a documentary that gives you an insight into the sheer nerve and stupidity, that Billy McFarland possess.

It manifests a hatred for this one guy that created fake promises to help his own gain.

It presents it's evidence and stories, in a way that keeps the audience engaged.

Whilst it does feel bias at times, making the people at fault, look like vicitms, it gets the point across that Billy is where he deserves to be and that is prision.

A Messy Painting That You Can Enjoy
2 February 2019
This is different. Art is subjective, so you will either love it or hate it. The direction and cinematography fits it's theme of art.

Whilst it isn't a masterpiece and feels like a messy painting, it is something you can watch, enjoy and appreciate.

Jake Gyllenhaal is a gem and plays his character perfectly. Acting from the whole cast is top notch and something that definitely is worth watching the film for alone.

It does take a weird slasher horror route but it takes this genre convention and paints it with the right brush.

It Really Isn't That Bad
13 October 2017
I've seen how much of a bad reception this film has received and I generally don't agree that it was as bad as its been made out to be.

I'll start with the acting, this was top notch and the cast did an amazing job. Michael Fassbender put in a really good performance.

The visuals and cinematography were great. It was wonderfully shot and the locations looked beautiful.

The soundtrack wasn't too bad, it built up the tension when it needed too.

The one issue I've noticed people point out is that it feels like a mess and the pacing isn't great. I agree with this to some extent. At points in the movie it does feel a bit jumbled, but I feel like this was done on purpose, because some of this confusion is covered and made sense of in the third act.

The third act is probably the best part of the film, the build up to the conclusion was done well, and it leaves you on the edge of your seat. However, the actual conclusion of the film, did leave a sour taste in my mouth.

If you like slow burner thrillers, then this is the film for you.

It really isn't that bad.
