Rurouni Kenshin (1996–1998)
a masterpiece!
26 August 2005
Without any doubt this is one of the best animated series ever done and my favored of all times.

The way they combine fiction and real facts of Japanese history occurred during the Mei Ji era make it more interesting.

What make it different from other Japanese series is that in this case the main character, Kenshin Himura, has a real purpose to fight for in order to mend all those terrible things he did in the past.

Another point about it is the way they combine drama, action, romance and comedy. The backgrounds and the music are just brilliant and exquisite. There's no doubt these series has one of the best soundtracks.

superb, one of the best romantic films ever made!
26 August 2005
One of the best romantic films I've ever seen. This movie portrays in a simple but well done way how the life of two strangers changes after spending one complete day in Vienna.

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are just great, their characters are so well matched that the dialogues and performances look just natural in such a way that you can even feel identified with both of them. Even though when the story seems to be simple, the extraordinary dialogues and the beautiful European sceneries and the marvellous music make of it an enjoyable film, a magical an original love story different form what I've seen before.

entertaining but not good enough for the novel
26 August 2005
A good film a nice one to keep you entertained. I must admit that after reading Ian Mc Ewan's book I was really keen on watching the film. However after doing it I was somehow disappointed. Although the story is not badly adapted and the performances and cinematography are good as well I couldn't perceive in any moment the sadomasochistic relationships skilfully described in Mc Ewan's novel that made of it a thrilling story full of suspense and unexpected situations. On the contrary the story seems lighter than it is actually. Anyway the performances and the beautiful landscapes of Venice are some of the elements that make of it an enjoyable film.
