The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
Dracula gem
When I went to the movie it played to an almost empty theatre. What a pity as it deserves a much larger audience. Production values are well above average for your typical dark horror pic. Solid acting, storyline even though somewhat predictable kept my interest to the final scene. Worth a sequel to continue the Dracula story. Definitely not for those of a nervous disposition but if you enjoy any film involving dark scenes, mystery and mayhem don't miss this. Forget any possible inconsistencies between the original Bram Stoker novel and just enjoy the storytelling aspect of the movie. With a better promotional package and different release date the box office take would have been so much better.
La legge di Lidia Poët (2023)
Fiction beats facts
Don't worry about historical accuracy of the adventures of Lidia. This beautiful period drama has great production values and superb English dubbing. I am already hungry for Season 2.
While Lidia faces challenges with the courts the greater picture emerges in the dealings with her family.
The costume designer for Lidia has created a real feast for the eyes.
As each episode is self-contained there's a sense of satisfaction when looking at each case Lidia tackles in isolation. At the same time some of the continuing story lines act as a golden thread running through the series.
The acting is first class.
You will.
