Could have been better

Now that that's over and done with; I only watched this film earlier today and I personally just found it disappointing as an overall product. Some sequencers were great, but others just fell flat and I blame this mostly on the fact that the studio separated the weakest book in the series into two separate films.

While Mockingjay P1 was much more of a slow burn, P2 was simply just badly paced and stretched out to epic proportions. If I'm being quite honest, I despised the ending in the books, so I may be biased when I speak about that. Moving back a bit, the film picked up right where P1 left off and while Lawrence was much better this time around; the first half an hour or so was just unbearably slow and this is coming from someone who happily sat through the Gary Oldman version of 'Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy' which had not a word of dialogue on his part for the first 15-20 minutes (If I remember correctly).

The ending wasn't exactly anything all that great either. Did we truly need to see an extra ten minutes of Katniss and Peeta living in 12? The story was over and the only benefit to these scenes was.. wait... there wasn't anything gained from them but fanservice.

I also wasn't a fan of the final scenes with Coin. While Moore and Lawrence did a good job in them; the payoff was as awkward as seeing Jennifer Lawrence have to bend down to hug Josh Hutcherson in the final act of the film.

I have a few more complaints, but I'd rather not ramble on too much. It was a solid ending to a mixed bag of a series, that's all there really is to be said. 6.4/10.
