There have been films that have made me emotional
4 April 2021
But none have made me actually cry. I've gotten misty-eyed, but I've never had tears come out of my eyes. This film--and Justin Timberlake's performance, in particular--was remarkable in so many ways. I enjoyed every second I spent watching it.

I enjoyed this, but...
19 January 2021
Fredro's acting is good... whenever he's on screen. However, when he's doing narration, he comes off as wooden, and you can really tell he's reading off a piece of paper. All-in-all, it's not a great film, but it's not terrible either. I went into this expecting it to be really gritty, and low budget, but the production value was better than expected.

Absolutely brilliant
7 January 2021
I want to say that this show is not without it's flaws, but I still rated it as perfect. As a man, this show shined a light on an epidemic that I typically could ignore. Although I am not ignorant or insensitive to the plight that women all around the world face everyday, I can live my life without the fears that women go through. This show really hit me in my heart from the moment I knew what the premise was, and I sat uneasily watching the show develop and unfold. I was not disappointed.

Aside from the premise, I would like to just praise Michaela Cork, not only for her writing, her acting, her vision and her direction, but also for her bravery. Again, the stories shown on this program mirror the everyday realities of so many folks, whether they be women, gay, trans, etc. The realism was jarring, but it still allowed for moments of laughter, and never came off as pretentious or preachy.

There is no reason for this series to receive a second part, but I definitely look forward to more work from Michaela.

Jason X (2001)

Not a good film, but I'll always love it
9 November 2020
I gr w up with this film on DVD (as well as Freddy vs Jason), and it has not aged well. That's not to say that it was particularly good when it first released, because it wasn't, but it's not nearly as entertaining as it was nearly twentybyears ago. That being said, I've probably seen this Friday film more than any other in the series, and I still feel an attachment to it. The producers, writers, etc actually had the unmitigated gall to put Jason in space, and whilst it doesn't add to the terror that the series is known for, it does provide some interesting and entertaining scenarios. There are some brutal kills that take advantage of the futuristic scenario, and some interesting callbacks to Jason films of all. This film isn't fooling anyone. Nobody would walk away from it feeling that it is a "classic" or good, but as I've said already, it's very entertaining.

Meh
23 September 2020
I watched this film immediate after watching the original for the first time, so both films are fresh in my mind. I thought this film was boring until about the halfway point. After that point, things really turned themselves around and became enjoyable.

Although I found it boring initially, I would like to point out that I was utterly impressed with Sean Comb's acting. I've seen him in other things, most noticeably Monster's Ball, but I don't remember that performance. In this film, he came off as a believable hardcase of a drug kingpin. He was almost sociopathic in his delivery, but he also provided me with the few laughs in the film, such as whenever he would interact with his driver.

Jay Hernandez also did a good job at sounding like Al Pacino's version of the same character.

Other than that, this film just rehashes tired tropes of the gangster genre. It was enjoyable, but it was largely unoriginal. I also didn't like how there wasn't any real consistency amongst the characters.

Bastille Day (2016)

I come you know French
20 September 2020
The subtitles for this film absolutely suck. Whenever the characters speak french, the translations only come up when they say basic, easily understood phrases. A large portion of this film is characters speaking in French, with the viewer having absolutely no clue what they are talking about... unless they speak French themselves.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this film. I saw it shortly after it came out when I rented it through redbox, but my most recent viewing of it was just a few days ago, via netflix. I think both Idris Elba and Richard Madden are both believable in their roles. Idris plays a strong lawman who often goes with his intuition, which is often against his superiors' wishes. It's nothing new, but he excels in the role. Richard plays a good-hearted pickpocket who unwittingly plays a part in a terror attack. Despite being a criminal, he is out of his element throughout most of the film, and he comes off as a guy that's trying to clear his name and stay alive in the process.

Again, both leads are very believable.

My favourite parts to this film are whenever Richard's character is committing his acts of thievery, and there are several of these scenes. They always are different and very entertaining.

Gemini Man (2019)

Enjoyable
18 August 2020
The story, acting and action were all enjoyable, but the CGI was very noticeable, and bad. Whenever you saw the clone of Will Smith's character, there was a horrible blur, and it was made worse whenever the clone was running. The face is off, but it does look like Will Smith. If you've seen I Am Legend, the CGI kind of looks like that, which isn't great as that film came out at least 11 years ago. All-in-all, I'd recommend this film. Like I said before, it's definitely enjoyable, even if got predictable at the very end.

The Pain in a Nutshell
25 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This is for all of those Brock Lesnar fans who didn't get enough of the man during his impressive two-year stint in the WWE. Everything about this single disc DVD inspires nostalgia for what was possibly the greatest big man to ever step foot in a WWE ring.

It's starts off with a documentary approach that you should be familiar with if you've ever watched a Supersatr-specific DVD release from Vince's company. It highlights his time as an amateur wrestler, complete with interviews of the man himself and folks from his hometown of Webster, Sout Dakota, and goes on to cover a little over the first year he spent in WWE. There are interviews with fellow WWE Superstars Booker T, Kurt Angle, Bubba Ray Dudley, Paul Heyman, The Hurricane, Tommy Dreamer and others, all who describe their in-ring and locker room experience with the man of the hour. It highlights his meteoric rise to Undisputed Champion by defeating The Rock at Summerslam 2002 after conquering three other men at King of the Ring 2003, as well as covering other title defenses against Undertaker, Big Show and Kurt Angle.

The biography part of the DVD is incredibly extensive, especially considering that he only had a two-year career with WWE, and about only half of that is covered, but the true meat of the DVD is the bonus features which includes six matches.

Matches included are his decisive victory over "Hulkamania" Hulk Hogan at a taping of Smackdown!, his first title match against The Rock at the above mentioned Summerslam, his very bloody encounter with "Big Evil" The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell at No Mercy 2002, his Wrestlemania debut against your Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle, and two brutal bouts against Big Show, one in a Stretcher Match at Judgment Day 2003 and another at a taping of Smackdown!

Since I was HUGE Lesnar fan, there's not really much I have to complain about when it comes to what he's done in the ring, and in fact, my only gripes are trivial and subjective only to myself probably, and those are his matches against The Rock and Undertaker. While both matches are e-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t, I already have access to those matches on other WWE DVD sets. That being said, if you have not already seen those matches or if you would like to be able to watch them in an exclusive Brock Lesnar environment, this DVD is for you.

Ratings: Presentation 10 Extras 10 Entertainment Value 10

It is clear upon viewing this DVD that Brock Lesnar had everything there is to offer in the ring: ability, charisma and a great look, and if he would've stayed with the company, he would be a man just as feared and respected now as he was then.
