Zero (2018)
Worth watching
I almost didn't watch the movie because of the bad reviews and I am so glad I did't listen.
Truth is that this is the most real surreal story I have ever watched on screen. The story if left by itself would seem more than absurd, but emotionally it felt so relatable. I was so caught up in the feelings that I didn't mind the insanity of the script.
On the other hand the cast did amazing. Katrina was the big surprise for me. I loved her performace. She did absolute justice to her character.
And of course , for me as a fan one tiny, but very important moment - Sridevi's last.
So in conclusion this movie was emotional on more than one level to me. Give it a chance , it might surprise you.
Thugs of Hindostan (2018)
Not every movie has to be a masterpiece.
The movie was highly entertaining to me despite all the bad reviews I had read before watching it.
Sure enough it is not Vishal Bardwaj's Maqbool or Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black and I didn't watch it with that expectation. It is an entertaining family movie with a nice plot and a lot of action. Aamir was on point as always and I loved his character. Mr. Bachchan is a legend and he's in that stage of his career by my opinion , in which it is enough for him just to be in the movie. Fatima was a delight to watch.
Someone I really liked is the girl playing young Zafira (Deshna Dugad). She's done pretty well for the small role she had and for her young age.
So , in conclusion, if you are in a mood for an entertaining action , the movie will leave you with a good feeling. Give it a try.
Maqbool (2003)
A masterpiece in every aspect!
A masterpiece in every aspect. This is the first thought which came to me after watching Maqbool.
First I have to give credit to the director for doing such an amazing job. To recreate a story as famous as Macbeth and as brilliantly as he did , is a very brave and hard enterprise. I didn't skip a second of the movie , simply because every frame was meaningful and nothing was out of place.
Having said this ,I have to give credit to the cast of the movie. Not a single misplaced character. In fact all of the actors gave by my opinion one of the best performances in their careers. Irrfan Khan and Tabu were out of this world , so simple and believable yet so strong emotionally. The chemistry between them is great. Pankaj Kapoor shines as Jahangir Khan.
A job well done.I wish there were more Indian movies like this one to give the Indian cinema the good name it deserves.
