Leverage: The Scheherazade Job (2010)
Very telling
I quite like this episode. The storyline was good, but I especially liked that Nate told Hardison at the end what it really takes to run your own crew. As someone who has a hard time separating emotions from situations, I appreciate that Nate was able to do that and show Hardison that running a team means helping them get past their own fear that's blocking them from succeeding. He knew Hardison was gifted on the violin, but he was doubting himself in a way that was holding the team back. He really showed that while Hardison is ambitious, he (at the time) didn't have what it takes to run his own team.
Psych: The Break-Up (2014)
Love it!
I know some people may find the lack of excitement boring because it's the finale, but I absolutely loved it!! The number one reason why I generally dislike other shows finales is because they make it obvious that it's the end, which means you're (mainly me) probably expecting some grandiose ending. With this finale, it felt like it wasn't truly ending (granted it wasn't with the additional movies). But it felt like any other case, only this time they were moving after solving it. It was perfect. Even if the movies didn't come afterwards, I'd still be excited because of the open door for the future they left.
Plus I was already a huge fan of Monk before I got into Psych, so the shoutout at the end was probably the best thing ever for me.
Leverage: Redemption: The One Man's Trash Job (2022)
An off episode.
I don't like the decline in Sophie's character. She used to be so-so in the original series, but she's become unbearable in this show, mainly this episode.
Sophie spent the better half of season one scolding Harry and threatening to pull him from jobs because he didn't disclose when he knew someone they'd run into on a job, claiming he was keeping secrets and lying. This entire episode, she was doing just that, and when confronted, she said it was her past and they should respect it. They had to badger her constantly before she finally came clean.
Since becoming the leader of the crew, the writers have written her as trying to be more like Nate (I assume purposely) and it just doesn't fit, even as a storyline.
This episode just really missed the mark compared to the others. But Harry's portraying of the Chechen was hilarious.
How I Met Your Mother: The Autumn of Breakups (2012)
The same plot device
I was curious going into the episode. Everything was just ehh until they used the same old plot device that's used in so many shows. Girl asking guy to pick between ex/best friend and her. He eventually picks ex/best friend knowing there's no shot with her. It's just tiring to keep seeing it because it becomes so predictable.
