Peep Show (2003)
My favourite show of all time
When people ask me what my 'go to show is', I always say Peep Show. It's so comforting and realistic, that it just makes me feel better and more positive about life. It shows that you can go through ups and downs, but life goes on. This is demonstrated by the fact that each season ends with despair, but everything is relatively 'normal' at the beginning of the next one. I also have this show to thank for really shaping my humour, as I probably started watching when I was in my early teens, and I still quote it on a daily basis (even lines from characters that had a small cameo). The writing and humour still holds up so well today, and I think genius is probably the best word to describe it. 10/10.
Morbius (2022)
Love Morbus
Morbius is the best movie I have ever seen. I have watched Morbius at least 66 times so far, three times every day. In the film you get to see how Dr Michael Morbius manages his illness of a rare blood disorder, and it is evident that no CGI is actually used in the film, all of it is real. Spoiler alert: one of my favourite scene is when one of the characters does a funny dance. Definitely the most underrated movie of all time.
Ok but seriously, everything about this film is bad. None of the characters have any development, and I really hope we don't see Morbius again. The mid and post credit scenes were also the worst I've seen in a Marvel movie. I really opted to watch this instead of The Batman *sigh*
Trailer Park Boys: We Can't Call People Without Wings Angels So We Call Them Friends (2007)
Bad audio
As much as I love this show, I feel like this episode suffered from very bad audio issues, particularly with the scenes in the woods. No matter how much I turned it up, it was still ridiculously quiet. I guess that's realistic because it's low budget, but it genuinely made me feel like I was going deaf. Was delighted when the next episode started and the sound was back to normal. Aside from that, the episode has some good moments, but it could've been done a bit better in my opinion.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Simply the best
I have seen The Sopranos, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, etc but nothing stuck with me like BB. Watching for the first time in 2014 was special and unique, but for me it has the most re-watchability of any show I've seen and after watching BCS it holds even more weight as characters like Gus, Mike, and Saul have more development. 10/10 utterly flawless. Vince Gilligan is a genius.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Loved it
Surpassed my expectations which were lowered considerably after reading the reviews on here. Although I'm a big LeBron fan and I've looked forward to the movie for years, it was better acted and written than I expected. However, the creative minds and CGI that went into it was the most impressive aspect. Ignore the reviews and make up your own mind, it was great fun for the whole family.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.5 (2021)
Amazing
This show never ceases to amaze me. To remain so complex and enthralling this far into the series is incredible. After a disappointing first episode where I thought the story was going to be spread quite thin, this season has been incredible. That's how to do a cliffhanger!
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Better than expected
I only watched this to get excited for Godzilla vs. Kong and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a few good fight scenes and some action, but the majority of the film had Kong in it and therefore a lot of exciting moments. I think the cast did a great job (unsurprising because they're mostly A-listers) and an inferior cast might have exposed its flaws a bit more. I enjoyed John C Reilly's character the most as he had a lot of depth to him and he was written quite well. Although his character didn't fit with the tone of the film, I saw him as a bit of comic relief with a great backstory. Kong looked amazing and the CGI was some of the best I've seen. Although Godzilla (2014) was lukewarm, I'm now officially a fan of the MonsterVerse.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
Thoroughly enjoyable episode
There's so much depth to Negan and I've been excited to see his origin story since The Saviors were introduced. Even though I had high expectations, there were very few flaws to this episode. I hope JDM is utilised properly in the final season, because he's carried the show for years.
The Walking Dead: Diverged (2021)
Avoid this episode at all costs
I love TWD and unlike most I still think it's an above average show for the most part. There were some great moments not so long ago in season 10 (although I think the whisperers arc was a disappointment). But please avoid this episode at all costs. If I can make sure just one person in the future reads this and doesn't waste their time I'll be happy. I promise, all you'll miss out on is Daryl scavenging and Carol making soup.
Game of Thrones: Oathbreaker (2016)
Amazing
Gets a 10 just for the appearance of Ser Arthur Dayne, a character that TV-only fans needed to see. The fighting scene with him against Ned's men is one of my favourite in the whole series. Luke Roberts did the 'best swordsman in Westeros' justice.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
The day GOT died
Just finished the show for the first time last week because I've lived under a rock for the last decade. First 4 seasons were top tier TV as everyone points out, with some good moments sprinkled in seasons 5,6, and 7, but this episode was where it really fell apart. I was really excited for this episode too after all the build up in episode 2. The dragons and Bran were under-utilised, the tactics were laughable, everyone had too much plot armour, there was too much fan service, the lighting made it uncomfortable to watch, and the ending was a massive anti climax. Melisandre was also a plot device throughout the whole series.
Save Me (2018)
Worth the hype
I loved this show, it has stuck with me and has got better the more I've thought about it. Save Me has an Uncut Gems feel to it, as you feel like you're in the story that's unfolding. It makes you anxious, and you feel like you're on the journey to search for Nelly's daughter with him.
The story is quite slow, but it fits perfectly in this show as it is very realistic within the environment the characters live. For example, side characters such as Melon (portrayed by Stephen Graham) are used sporadically, drifting in and out of the story but still receiving sufficient development. This works within the story as Nelly is constantly on the move and the viewers attention to the central point of the story never shifts, only using his friends, acquaintances and neighbours when he needs them, demonstrating behaviour that any parent would in the same situation.
I loved the small details in the show, such as Nelly's ever-present yellow coat and his "You What?" ringtone that played out on his cracked phone.
I highly recommended this show if you like addictive TV.
