The Last Bus (2022)
Upbeat SciFi - Give it a go
New batch of young British actors and we are bound to see a few become future stars like Robert Sheehan. The characters and the acting are the best thing and the soundtrack is pretty memorable (reminds of Vangelis). Great to see the Eden Project used as a location as that place has been an ideal SciFi set for 20 years.
Shining Vale (2022)
Took me a while but I'm hooked
It takes some time to like the characters as they are so dysfunctional, but once you get past that it's pretty funny. The actors are quite good. I mean, I believe them. Wouldn't want to know them but it's fun to observe. The theme song makes me laugh every time I hear it now. Hope there is another season and they can push the boundaries of the genre. Greg Kinnear has a cute butt.
Pam & Tommy (2022)
A true American Docu-Love Story
It's pretty damn good. It has cinematic production values for a mini-series. The acting is on point and the script has some depth. The music selection is well chosen and effectively reflects the time or energy of the moment. If you like Seth Rogan then you will like the comedy. The story a pokes fun at the "American Dream" well at the same time celebrates it. You couldn't make this stuff up, except that it actually happened in real life in and many of us watched it unfold.
Untold: Caitlyn Jenner (2021)
Told: Bruce Jenner
It's basically a documentary about Bruce Jenner wanting to win. There is nothing "untold" about Caitlyn Jenner that we haven't already seen in the media. The last 15 minutes are about the transition into Caitlyn Jenner. There are no interesting insights about her except from her first-born son who appears to accept Caitlyn more than she accepts herself.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
Glued to the Screen
What an amazing production with accurate historical references and attention to detail. Lovecraft monsters ripping up racist cops in the 50's is just what the world needs right now.
