Fabulous series which reminds us all of the deep connections we have to family and how genetic factors shape aspects of our character. The heartbreaking stories of people who have searched unsuccessfully for family members become triumphs as they are often reunited. Many of the stories are filled with surprises that just enrich the viewing experience. Ultimately, it is a very uplifting program which displays the strength of the human spirit. Nicky and Davina are particularly empathetic to the stories because they have both been adopted and have also searched for their birth parents. Their support is heartwarming.

Thankfully not your usual procedural!
The acting is good. Refreshing approach that doesn't follow the tired procedural storyline franchises. Character driven story lines are engaging and allow for many possibilities in the future. I've only watched three episodes so far and each one has started developing characters. The idea of a policeman living in the crime ridden area to connect with the people is interesting. The premise of the story at this stage is to restore some peace to the area. However the new police chief and the characters of the various beat cops and detectives is also a focus.

Ringing and jogging movie

The subject matter in this film was serious. However the continual phone calls made by a jogging Naomi Watts failed to deliver the suspense and trauma associated with a school hostage situation. It was difficult to engage in the story line and I found myself pressing fast forward to get to the end as quickly as possible.

A welcome relief from predictable procedural dramas. The first two episodes establish interesting characters who begin to draw the audience in. The theme of corruption versus the desire to do the right thing is set against the backdrop of mystery involving some of the characters. Early days but this series has potential.
