The Walking Dead (2010)
The Walking Dead S6 Weakest Season?!
Just finished watching 'The Walking Dead Season 6'. Have loved them ALL. But this season lacked something. I don't know if it has run its course and needs to start wrapping up or what.
The following 10 areas 'bothered me' and led to my disappointment!!
1. There is more person on person violence. This is more difficult to watch. More threat! 2. The first episode hops back and forth in time and colour. Hard to watch. 3. The Glenn fake death didn't bother me as much as others but still I wonder was it necessary. Why are Maggie and Glenn always in peril! 4. The fact that Glenn and Maggie decide to have a kid I think it totally implausible. If Alexandria was years settled and they had livestock, better defence and more food and a GP you might think okay. But the place is still in turmoil and it really is a selfish decision as ultimately moving Maggie to Hilltop gets the group trapped. 5. Morgan is a bit annoying. Its nice having an 'all life is precious' attitude but if someone is nice, yeah be compassionate. But if someone is dangerous etc you kill or be killed. In this series everything you do can have an effect on the rest of the group. So you cant be selfish! 6. I found Carol the most disppointing. I always loved her and her kick ass spirit. And its like totally different writers got their hands on her and she just changed. To the point where I was sick of her and wished they would just let her leave and die. Most series look like they are written with consistency, like the same writer, except this one. 7. Enid the young girl going out by herself, implausible. You'd be so terrified. Again could have gotten Glenn killed. No one should be allowed go out on their own! 8. There seemed like there was a lot of 'filler' episodes and digression, like they didn't know where to go with the story. People sitting around flicking lighters like they have an endless supply of matches and lighers!! A lot of focus on 'new' walkers at the expense of the storyline?! 9. Rick was sleeping with Jessie, she gets killed and next he's with Michonne. Don't see it. They were friends and never more and now we're expected to think they're a couple?! 10. There is obvious threat from other people. And 'Jesus' warns Rick about them. Yet Rick becomes cocky, we can take on anyone...etc. He was turning into a bit of an ass. And didn't consider that other groups might be stronger. He went to kill the lad with the horse when he didn't need to. (I did agree with Morgan there!). Just seems like a lot of characters were different this season.
There were some brilliant scenes; Daryl blowing up the bikers, Denise getting an arrow in the head, Daryl blowing up the walkers into the lake....They need to start wrapping up. Find a sanctuary, find a cure and let the main cast survive!!!
London Spy (2015)
A Good Watch
This started very slow and I wasn't sure if Id stick with it. Danny meets Alex and they seems so awkward together. I don't agree that they have chemistry. I saw none. They seem like chalk and cheese and you don't root for them to get together.
It picks up a bit in the second episode on wards. The acting is supreme and believable. Its a scary concept that 'someone' could set you up so much. Always a step ahead.
I was disappointed with the end. It was the usual what happens next, driving off into the distance. Hate endings like that. What would they do? Would they survive!!
If you like the spy genre, go for it. Its a short series and will have you hooked.
Sausage Party (2016)
Disappointing; Just Never Got Going
We'd planned on seeing David Brent but it wasn't on at a good time so we went to see Sausage Party. Had looked at the trailer and my initial feeling was that Id seen enough! Anyway went along with an open mind and had been told its 'better then you think'.
Ten minutes in and you feel like the story should be leaving the supermarket but no it stays in the aisles. You're starting to get bored. I hate to say it but it seems to have no aim. Where could this be going? The food was ugly and unlikable. The story line wasn't strong enough to carry to predictable lines and jokes. And yeah if you don't like bad language this isn't one for you.
I thought they might do a South Park meets Toy Story. But no. It was no where near. Half way through I was thinking of the Box Sets I could be watching at home. My husband leaned in, 'This is a bit weird!'.
It isn't for children yet it started to have that feeling when the adult gets bored half way through as the film is aimed at kids, unlike Toy Story. But this is unusual as it is aimed solely at adults.
Couldn't wait for it to end. There was a finale type sex scene when all the food starts having sex. Type of thing computer animators might draw/make as a joke for each other. But not for the public. It was just disturbing.
The Stephen Hawking character made me uncomfortable and the 'Muslim' wrap having sex with the 'Jewish' bagel - just silly and weird.
Feel embarrassed for the actors! It just doesn't work. Sounds like a lot of egocentric actors thinking they can write a script.
Thinking maybe I'm too old for the film (in my early 30s) I looked around the cinema, lots of teenagers and lads in their 20s. No out loud laughing. All looked bewildered when they left.
When we arrived at the cinema there was a massive queue. The cinema is small and only has three screens. We were actually afraid we wouldn't get to see it. Turned out the massive queue was for The Young Offenders. Our cinema was quiet enough. Cant help but think they next door, knew more than us!! Disappointing. Could have been a funny short.
The Missing (2014)
Suspense
I had heard nothing of this series. So gave it a go. I like Frances O'Connor so she drew me to it. It is a great series. Loved the character of Baptiste played so well by Tchéky Karyo. The attractive old man cop who is calm and intelligent. Just loved when he was on screen. Felt like when things went wrong, you'd shout 'tell Baptiste'.
It will leave you guessing and guessing. There is a horrible backdrop of child kidnap rings and paedophiles. Which of course they lead you down that road. When you learn that Ollie was simply hit by a car chasing what he loves, a fox. It seems all so simple. Yet you think yeah, it probably is always the more simple explanation not always where our imagination leads us.
At times it felt too long and over egged. But James Nesbitt and Frances O'Connor do well with a very emotional script. At times uncomfortably similar to the McCanns.
Two very brave roles were the brilliant Ken Stott as a creepy property developer with secrets and Titus De Voogdt who plays the red herring character of Vincent Bourg. Brave roles for any actor but brilliantly done and believable.
I don't really get the journalist from England, Malik Suri. It doesn't overly explain why he would interfere with a police case to such a degree. Would you delay finding a child just to write a book/article. Why hold on to the evidence.
The ending has been much debated. I like myself a simple closure. But they went with the child is dead, no body found but the father Tony continues on his obsessive journey to find Oliver. Its sad and I think it was to leave the viewer feeling a lack of closure and frustration the same way Tony felt. I would have liked if they had tracked down the Romanian baddies and then found the body. End! It was worth watching. Very good.
Jurassic World (2015)
Good but not Great
Wanted to see this in the cinema but only saw it on DVD recently. I loved Jurassic Park and the second two weren't as good. So was excited to hear there was a new one.
It was good. But it just didn't have the same suspense that first one did. After the first we all consider how we would escape if we came face to face with a raptor! I thought they could have done more with Claire. She didn't know her nephews because obviously successful women cant have a personal life. When things were going south, she should have disappeared for a few minutes and re appeared in combats with a ready for action attitude. We all like the fantasy of being rescued by a strong man like Owen, but thought for 2015 Claire was a bit cliché, helpless woman.
They could have done more. But overall I enjoyed it. Love the TRex appearing near the end.
Love the soundtrack, they modernised this one and it wasn't the same.
