Finally, something authentic and worth watching
28 February 2024
With only 2 episodes out so far, I find this show to be really well done whether or not you have read the book or saw the 1980 mini-series with Richard Chamberlain. Hiroyuki Sanada is one of my favourite actors and his performance, as well as the other cast members is superb. The show is very authentic looking and most of the dialogue is in Japanese, which really adds to the atmosphere and gives you a sense of being in 1600s Japan. Except for one scene (IMHO), the cinematography is really good. Unlike the 1980 series, there is a darker "feel" which better portrays what was going on at that time. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.

Matrix meets Walking Dead
15 May 2022
I'd say if you liked movies 2 and 3, then you'll probably like this too. Those that only liked the original will find this movie meh.... But it does a decent job of finishing the Neo/Trinity story arc. The battle scenes are very reminiscent of every other zombie movie out there.

Keep your expectations low
27 February 2022
This is nowhere near the quality of Vikings. Poor writing, poor acting, poor directing, poor lighting....just a horrible production all around. It's hard to bond to any of the characters. The story is contrived and predictable. YAWN.

Okay show...

Overall, the show isn't that bad. Obviously it's the predecessor to Manifest but with slightly better acting. The constant musical montages are exhausting though.

One long commercial with a little tears thrown in
17 February 2020
You could tell how this was going to go when the makeover team marches to meet the family carrying banners with a name on them.....NOT the name of the family, but of the contractor hired to build the house. After that it was just a highlight reel show for different products. The host and designers are not very engaging.

Hannah Wells can do everything...
3 May 2018
The Hannah "MacGyver" Wells character is starting to get tiring fast. She can be an FBI agent, defuse bombs, lead a Seal team, hack computers....Really!!?? Next you'll have her flying jets in a combat mission and commanding submarine missions....sheesh

C'mon writers, this is getting to be really dumb and starting to push the show in a negative direction.

Total Tripe!
17 September 2016
The Captain doesn't join boarding parties, mess around with engineering equipment or even leave the CIC for that matter. He is there to run the ship and make decisions. Its like watching Star Trek with a different Captain Kirk. Bring out the red shirts!

After watching 2 episodes, I can say that this show really lacks authenticity. It had a good premise, but if the writers were more concerned with getting it right instead of making the Captain look like Superman, it may have been something I could stomach. I have 28 plus years in the Navy, just so you know where I'm coming from.

If you want a mindless, flag-waving, feel good about your country show....then this is it. If you want realism....avoid at all costs....
