Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011)
Best Live Action Family Film in Years
Mr. Popper's penguins brings back the charm of animal-centered family features like "Beethoven," "Dunston Checks In, and "Monkey Trouble." This movie definitely allows the viewer to see what CGI is capable of because the penguins look completely real especially to a child and only because of the way the penguins behave or move in parts is it obvious they cannot be real.
This movie also has much of the charm of "Liar Liar" with a similar family situation and highlights the importance of certain family values. Jim Carrey's performance is of course the highlight of the film and does well to allow the viewer to become emotionally attached to his character. Also, as a comedy, this movie will make you laugh throughout the film.
Waiting for 'Superman' (2010)
After watching this great movie I just had to post something
I pretty much never write reviews and I rarely ever watch documentaries but this was well worth it. The ending could not have been better and will leave any viewer who has a heart in a state of strong mixed emotions.
This movie was presented very unbiased and I should know because I consider myself a conservative independent and there was no liberal or democrat bashing in the movie. The movie does well at presenting both schools with high achievements and scores and those on the opposite end.
Anyone who has a child struggling in school yet desires the best education they can find for them will be touched by this movie and realize that they are not alone.
The Number 23 (2007)
A Great Surprise!
After reading many of the reviews on here I had doubts about this movie. As I watched and the end was clearly in sight I was worried because many reviews on here said the ending was the worst part. However, in my surprised amazement it worked quite well. I liked how the movie doesn't seem to have a single plot as the movie rolls on, but I thought this is what made it great, keeping you guessing all the time.
Another great thing was the characters had very well defined personae. Each approaching the story with different views and not always doing the predictable thing.
What makes this movie even greater is the fact that it had such poor reviews because when you go to see a movie with high expectations and it doesn't live up to them it will always render a poor personal rating of the movie, but when the movie is given bad reviews or is overlooked and turns out well it seems much better.
Though the movie was quite good, it will probably have little affect on Jim Carrey's career simply because it is not his typical role and it is unlikely he will land another role like this one in a movie that is just as good.
Norbit (2007)
Do not be deceived, this movie is GREAT!!!
Except for Cuba Gooding, Jr. this movie was a perfect take on the story concept. This is classic Eddie Murphy comedy. A bunch of hilarious personalities all playing off each other, and best of all a movie that just makes you laugh without having to think too much just great entertainment.
While I thought "Daddy Day Care" and some of Eddie Murphy's recent family films were very good it's great to know he can still make a movie like "Coming to America" or "Trading Places". I really hope this movie gets the laughs it deserves when it hits DVD.
People who are offended by this movie are the same people who ran Disney's "Song of the South" out of America. Some people just have no sense of humor.

The Truth Must Be Told - This Movie SUCKS!!!
I don't know where these people who liked this movie are coming from. It was a disaster compared to the Gene Wilder film. I figured they'd at least try to put a modern spin on it seeing as how it's a remake. But no, they basically attempted to remake the old one (better in their minds) but worse to real people. Unless you're a kid who has never seen the original I don't know how you could like this. Sitting thru the movie is a pain, by the end you realized "I just wasted two hours of my life." The movie didn't even have a new spin, nothing original, just taking stuff from the book and the first movie and making a much worse movie.
Worst of all, the Oompa-Loompas were crap, no little people (midgets for us who live in the real world). I mean the little green guys have been a trademark since the first film, one was in an episode of "the Simpsons." I could keep going but to finish I'll just say, "DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE!"
