Rebirth (2016)
A unique, confusing and gripping experience
This is one of the strangest and most exhilarating movies I've ever seen. I am so confused at what I just watched and why I enjoyed it so much. You literally can not have one expectation of what you're about to see. What kept me so keyed in and interested was just the constant confusion on what was happening here. I was really able to put myself in the main character's shoes because we know as little about what's going on here as he does. The audience is able to be just as confused and anxious as he is throughout the length of the film. That added so much to the suspense and entertainment value, as well as giving a unique movie experience that most people will not receive often.
It's satirical, strange, in your face, confusing, uncomfortable, riveting and downright shocking to say the least. I recommend watching this because it is an experience most people have probably never received from a film and it's something that I'm glad I jumped into. It's a cult movie, but unlike any of the other ones you've seen and I can almost guarantee it.
Also, the acting was superb and felt real to the situation, the score was unique and inventive, the camera-work is high-quality and honestly, you just gotta give this movie a go.
Mine Games (2012)
Needed so much more work
There are just so many things wrong with Mine Games from the beginning to the very last second. I must admit that the camera-work was excellent, location was fitting and the premise itself is intriguing but everything else in this production is extremely inadvertent and I found myself rolling my eyes continuously. The script is weak and bland, every cliché you could possibly think of was present, the decisions the characters made were not just "typical horror movie bad decisions that people make when they're scared and not thinking straight" kind of decisions, they were just decisions that would specifically keep the movie from stopping in its own tracks. In the end, there was literally not one specification on why anything had happened. Not a trace of resolution or meaning for any of it. I haven't seen a movie with this amount of carelessness and large quantity of plot holes in a while. If you look at my other reviews, you'll see that I'm extremely generous when it comes to rating films, probably TOO generous. But this.... this truly needed a substantial amount of work in so many areas. I would not go as far to say this is a terrible movie because you can tell that director Richard Gray tried to get creative and have some fun with this so I do respect that he tried to create something unique in such a repetitive world of film. It just really needed so much work to be considered good. It upsets me that someone didn't tell this guy about all these silly and avoidable mistakes that he was making throughout the course of the pre-production and production of this film. This could have been something special but it ended up being a messy, negligent, and heedless attempt. Would recommend to those who enjoy movies based PURELY on the entertainment factor and nothing more. I do not recommend you watch this if you cringe at plot holes, clichés, and absent resolutions.
Time Traveling Bong (2016)
These two have great chemistry and make for big laughs
Ilana Glazer and Paul W. Downs of their hit show 'Broad City' have created a 4/20 comedy special called "Time Traveling Bong," and it's hilarious.
These two leads have great chemistry together and are so fun to watch as they travel through time together, ending up in ridiculous situations. If you're a history buff, a marijuana advocate or a fan of comedy, you'll find Time Traveling Bong enjoyable.
It may not be as funny as Broad City, but it's hilarious none-the-less. Ilana Glazer has grown a large fan base very quickly and Time Traveling bong will only bring in more. This 3 episode special is worth watching and you could definitely expect some good laughs throughout. Kick back, pack a bong and enjoy the crazy adventures and witty situational-comedy.
