Crazy Eights (2006)
5/10
A lot of potential, not a lot of pay out.

6 adults who were childhood friends are reunited at the funeral of another friend of theirs. The dead friend wanted them all to go dig up a time capsul that none of them remembered burying. What they find leads to previously repressed memories resurfacing for all of them, and the realization that they were friends BECAUSE they were all subject to the same experimental treatments as children. Their memories of their own pasts are either false or unreliable, and they're all forced to face horrors that they had long ago escaped. The camera work is really good, and they do a great job of presenting creepy and scary imagery and a few pretty jump scares.

However, the plot is really hard to follow and to understand at times(closed captions recommended), and the characters are not particularly interesting or likeable. The movie is disjointed and confusing, and it really hurts what I think was a potentially excellent plot.

It's worth watching, but it's nothing to rave about.
