Doc Martin: The Admirer (2007)
I like this Season
Although Doc Martin is still pretty rude and caustic,I like his character this
season and earlier. At least he does show feelings for Louisa and manages a half-smile.
As the series went on he got more distant and cranky-how could he with such a cute
wife and baby? Still a fine series-Nobody does this type of comedy better than
the Brits.
Doc Martin: Going Bodmin (2004)
I Prefer the Early Doc
I enjoy the entire Doc Martin series but like his earlier character much more than
the later distant, nasty Doc although he always saves the day with his brilliant
medical savvy.
In the first two seasons he's still grumpy and distant but seems to interact better and even has a rather caustic sense of humor.
The later shows are still fun but Doc can be too nasty and distant to be believable-
I don't know how a Doll like Louisa can tolerate him-although they've had their ups and downs.
I understand that he played an earlier version of Doc Martin and was a lot more amiable. I still love the show but wish he'd loosen up a little.
Leave It to Beaver: The Shave (1958)
Floyd the Barber
It's fun seeing Howard McNear play a Barber two years before the Andy
Griffith show debut.
Perhaps this performance won him the part.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Dodging Domino (1962)
Larry Mondello
One of the kids in the Costume scene at the trial's end is none other than
Robert "Rusty" Stevens-alias Larry Mondello of "Leave it to Beaver".
Choo-Choo! (1932)
Oliver Hardy Corection
Otto Fries plays the Novelty Salesman. Oliver Hardy's voice is spliced in
when Otto encounters the Bear in the Baggage Car.
Pop Goes the Easel (1935)
Location Info
A friend of mine thinks that the opening shot of Larry is filmed in front of what
became Dino's Lounge on 77 Sunset Strip.
The sign says Richfield. Any Hollywood buffs have some input?
Thanks.
Tarzan's Magic Fountain (1949)
Brenda Joyce and Henry Kulky
Anyone notice that Brenda Joyce looked a little heavy in this film?
Mostly her legs. She was still gorgeous and had a great figure, but there's
quite a differance from the year before.
One reviewer thought Elmo Lincoln was the villain with the eyepatch-that was
former wrestler Henry Kulky. Elmo can be seen briefly as a fisherman near the
pond where Lex and Kulky fight.
Bomba on Panther Island (1949)
Lita Baron
The highlight of this Bomba film is certainly Lita Baron.
She was the sexiest of Bomba's female admirers and had a lot of the
sensuality of Acquanetta from "Tarzan and the Leopard Woman".
As a matter of fact she took Acquanetta's place in Weissmuller's "Jungle JIm"(1948)
as member of his safari with an eye for JIm. She also performs a sexy but hilarious dance-compared to Elaine's dance in Seinfeld.
She had talent-sang with Xavier Cugart and was married to Rory Calhoun.

Pillow to Post (1945)
Watch for Louis and Dorothy
For Jazz Fans, this film has an all-too brief nightclub scene of Louis Armastrong
and his Big Band with the gorgeous Dorothy Dandridge singing.
The tune, "Whatcha Say" was earlier recorded by Louis and Dorothy for Decca.
This version sounds like the studio recording.
Although not a great singer,Miss Dandridge emotes much sex appeal in her brief scene and Louis gets in some nice horn and vocal bits.
I also get a kick out of the patron stuck at a table with yackers who says-
"I'd like to hear this!!".
My sentiments exactly.
Tarzan's New York Adventure (1942)
Fun Finale to the MGM Series
This episode has a sure-fire premise and many obvious comic moments
with Tarzan adjusting to the BIg City.
A good supporting cast and the always lovely Maureen are highlights.
Johnny looks good, but was a bit heavier and not as toned as in the earlier films.
Catch him in "Tarzan and the Leopard Woman"-for one film,he really toned up.
Still a favorite episode.
Swing! (1938)
Watch for Dolly
Pretty Bad film, but Jazz Fans watch for Trumpeter Dolli Armeda,
sometimes known as Dolly Jones.
She plays two great solos on "I May be Wrong" and "China Boy".
Sort of a Mystery Figure-Roy Eldridge spoke well of her in an interview.
This lady could play.
