Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster (2023)
Ego trip for old lady
I'm sorry, this woman's story is just ridiculous. She cared more about her involvement with this predator than she did about her own children's mental health. The story could be told in 60 minutes and she obviously involved herself with a predator and is trying to legitimize that involvement. The FBI has people trained to do these things, why use her? I feel terrible for the children truly affected by him. I sickened this woman is trying to draw attention to herself. I'm sorry her children were frightened and paranoid because their mother inserted herself into a child porn investigation. There is nothing noble about her behavior.
Beast (2022)
Stupid
Seriously, this was hilarious, unfortunately, I don't think that's intentional. When a lion is preying, don't get out of the fu$&ing car! Or leave the windows open. Or argue about a carriage ride from last year.
This movie is an insult to the intelligence of lions and to the audience. I'm embarrassed for Idris Alba, this is a pathetic mess. And the two teenagers in the movie must be related to the producers, neither was even convincing as petulant teenage girls. I honestly was rooting for the lion to take me out of the misery of watching.
But, just like a train wreck, it's hard to stop watching.
Under the Banner of Heaven (2022)
Read the book, this is different, but well worth watching
Having read this book many years ago, it rates as one of my favorites. The series relates the story in a "story " format, the book is nonfiction, so definitely different. But as a story, it's riveting, still. This book was one of the first to reveal the FLDS culture. It also documented LDS history quite well. Since the series is more of a story, it doesn't get into as much history or FLDS history, but it relates a good amount of the stories: I particularly liked the way this shows the conflict of a Mormon detective investigating Mormon fundamentalists, Garfield does a wonderful job showing the conflict. He should be nominated for an Emmy. It's a tragic, but true story, but to truly understand the story, you definitely need to read the book.
False Positive (2021)
WTAF.
This is insane. In poor taste and makes no sense.
I considered that it's possibly a satire, but it doesn't even make enough sense to be that. It's just confusing, disjointed, with multiple loose endings. I can't believe Piece Brosnan did this. He must need money. And Justin? Make better decisions.
Also, trigger alert for anyone who has suffered infertility or miscarriage or still birth or fetal demise.
