Creep
8 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
In Creep, the attempt is made to have the villain stalks his prey, take control of the his victim and destroy them. Unfortunately, this film shows no original story plot and lacks good acting.

There is several good attempts at making us believe that the stars are scared but it just doesn't quite convince us. With all the crying with no tears, screaming and yelling for no obvious reasons, its a wonder the cast even finished the film.

The story plot lacks several holes, mostly the why's. Why was there a hospital surgery room in the tunnel? Why was Craig's background not further explained? and the most unexplained question of all, why was this movie even made? Poor script and poor acting, what else can be said.

Pump a winning attitude
9 July 2006
This is a good look at the pre glittered Arnold. A look at the man himself as well as his competitive nature that he seems to still hold. This movie is based on bodybuilding but at a more in-depth and closer look it is about competing to be your best no matter the odds against you.

Arnold does a great job in showing his personal feelings towards his strive for winning everything he desires. After 29 years, this film shows the spirit of winning as well as the art of bodybuilding.

The desire, planning, training and the competition it's is all here and at its best when Arnold's title is challenged. When every well named bodybuilder during that era attempts to take the bodybuilding finale...who has what it takes?

Excellent movie.

Top Knotts, in Space
26 April 2006
Knotts plays a man who works at the local kiddieland as an "astronaut" for a children's ride. His war hero father's dream is to have Knotts be a real astronaut but Knotts is afraid of heights and most important, he is afraid of disappointing his father.

Knotts has a very good outing in this outer space flick. He brings the usual "I'm scared to death" character that made Knotts a star on both TV and film. Knotts was allowed to develop this character from a man who couldn't better himself and had no pride, into a space hero that the community looked up to.

This is a good family movie from the 60's and it's top for Knotts.

How to Frame a Fig
19 April 2006
This outing of Knotts includes one of his best sidekicks ever, Frank Welker. Welker makes the film. Knotts and Welker compete for the laughs and both receive plenty. Knotts works for a small "no where" town where the city is being run by some of the most ignorant officials. When things go wrong the city fathers, allow Knotts to take the fall. Frank Welker's character befriends Knotts and together they stumble together to clear up the mess and Knott's good name. This film shows the usual Knott's scared to death character that made him famous for years on television and film. This may have been Knotts' last good outing. When you have an extra 90 minutes, get a good old fashioned laugh a great icon, Don Knotts.

Charro! (1969)

A serious western...RIGHT
19 April 2006
After 30 films of watching Presley sing to everyone including the guy he just beat up, can you imagine trying to take Presley serious in a western? Not for fans like me. This film could have been a hit for Clint Eastwood or John Wayne but Presley...no way. Presley sings only the title song and only a fan with more time on his hands than brain power could sit through the first 30 minutes. Presley was showing obvious signs of extreme boredom during this film and you can tell his movie contracts were close to being finished. The unshaven, dirty western appearance of Presley was not tolerated by fans in 1969 and fans have not changed, So even from the biggest fan, Charro does not come with a recommendation.

Elvis a doctor????
19 April 2006
This last outing for Presley was his last attempt at making a drama. Presley fans over the years made it perfectly clear they did not want an "actor" named Elvis, they only wanted Elvis the "singer." Elvis obviously just goes through the motions to get this film over and onto bigger and better things such as future live performances. Elvis styles a new non-greaser looking hairdo and sings a couple of songs to make up for the bad acting performance. Mary Tyler Moore supports the cast with her usual "good girl" type character and keeps the film staying within the "Presley" film expectations. This last Elvis try was a flop and the least amount mentioned of it the better.

The End
26 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Burt Reynolds stars as a man who is terminally ill. He doesn't want to go through the pain of dying so he decides to takes his own life, problem is, he is afraid to.

Reynolds' made the most out of a weak story plot and script. His performance was of high quality and was backed by a good well talented supporting cast. Reynolds' usual pal, Dom plays a crazy lunatic that truly wants to help his buddy with his goal of doing himself in, but as the movie moves along Reynolds has second thoughts.

Many good talented actors in this movie, with a better script this may have been Reynolds best outing since, Smokey and the Bandit.

Double Trouble
26 August 2005
This David and Peter Paul outing lacks a script and a good solid story plot. The movie never takes off and it appears the supporting actors couldn't help fill in the gaps.

Even with good talent behind the twins the movie flopped. The twins have made good appearances in their past movies but this just could not get off the ground.

It appears that the entire cast couldn't wait until they could get done with the filming of this movie and I couldn't wait until the movie was over. Enough said about this low budgeted project.

Hey, David and Peter get some good writers.

Kissin' Cousins
26 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Not only does Kissin' Cousins contain a bad script for Presley but this Presley outing contained a bad script for two Presley's. This movie was made in 17 days and it is obvious that the old saying is true, "put forth your best effort or it will be a flop."

Presley plays two character's in this 1964 attempt, date's his own cousins and sings to everyone about being barefoot. Not a movie for academy award fans but Presley fans will enjoy.

Presley couldn't have been proud of this one.

If you decide to watch this movie just be careful not to fall in love with your cousins after you watch it.

You may be a redneck, if you go to a family BBQ to find a date.

Speedway in a Badway
26 August 2005
Here, Presley is seen in his usual style 1960's vehicle. With song, love interest and usual music. As with most Presley movies of the 60's, this movie lacks a good script, story plot and unbelievable scenes. Presley must have been tired of doing movies where he sang to everyone whether the situation called for it or not.

In Speedway, Presley is a race car driver on a winning streak, when he meets up with Nancy Sinatra everything starts getting into the way including his old buddy, Bill Bixby. If your a Presley fan you won't want to miss this but if your looking for a well made movie this isn't the once. I rate, Speedway a 2.

Harum Scarum (1965)

Harum Scary
18 August 2005
Harum Scarum is an unusual Presley vehicle set in the the mid-east with a special blend of the 1960's and some typical Presley music. As with most Presley movie's of that era, this movie lacks a good theme and script but Presley does manage to pull out some of his best music.

Presley has been kidnapped but manages to escape his takers, sing to everyone along the way and finds safety in the arms of Mary Ann Mobley.

This Presley outing is based in an unusual area but typical for Presley in script. Presley obviously appears to be in this movie only because he is under contract and unfortunately, it lacks supporting actors/ actresses that could have helped pull the movie out.

Not the best attempt in scripts but then if Presley had been given good material to work with things may have been different in his movie career.

Meet The Killer
17 August 2005
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello star in this classic "who done it" movie. The team provides their usual funny pratfalls and mix-ups but along the way they manage to provide a classic theme to this movie. With Abbott and Costello, Karloff managing his way into the picture as the grueling possibility of the killer.

This may be Abbott and Costello's best attempt to provide some new material into their excellent routines. Costello's character, Phillips is mainly accused of murdering a well known lawyer after they have a public disagreement.

Phillips arrives at the lawyers hotel rooms to apologize but he finds that the lawyer has been murdered. Abbott goes far and above the the call of friendship to prove his friends innocents but who really did do it? Watch and see.

King Creole (1958)

King does King Creole
17 August 2005
Presley's acting career may never have been able to fully be utilized but King Creole shows promising possibilities that if given the opportunity, Presley could have acted well.

As Danny Fisher, Presley combines good acting talents with excellent songs. His character is both convincing and talented through the entire movie.

Danny, his sister and his father have been forced to live in the lower class area of town. By coincidence, Danny's singing talent is discovered. He is given the opportunity to sing in two different night clubs but he may have to choose between his new career and his family.

The entire cast provide a fully powerful and sometimes emotional support to Danny. The songs that Danny sings are second to none.

This movie should have been nominated for academy awards but if it had we would never have the later Presley vehicles to watch and perhaps Presley's career would have been taken into a different area.

The Old Dark House ready for return to television?
17 August 2005
The Old Dark House does not provide the gore and R-rated material seen in today's horror movies but it does reflect a more simple time when comedy and horror could be matched while maintaining a family rating.

As a child I saw The Old Dark House over one hundred times, I remember being on the edge of my chair during the entire movie every single sitting. If only the local television stations would be able to air this movie, a new generation of viewers could enjoy, The Old Dark House.

The film may be the last of the "old age" comedies that were popular during that time. Tom Poston does a good job of not only showing fear but does so in comedy style to allow us, the viewers, to use our imagination.

While The Old Dark House may not live up to today's standards, it was a "movie of the day" in 1963.
